Ford Volunteers Take to Communities in Vietnam as Part of

Ninth Annual Global Week of Caring

More than 13,000 Ford employees, retirees and dealers will work on 310 community
service projects in 26 countries for the ninth annual Ford Global Week of Caring

Ford Vietnams local team of volunteers is engaged in a range of activities to improve

the environment, and assist disadvantaged children and communities

Volunteers this year are putting a special emphasis on projects that support and
protect water resources, in keeping with the companys corporate water strategy

HAI DUONG, Sept. 09, 2014 Current and former Ford Vietnam employees and dealers today
cleaned the park and lake in Hai Duong city and planted trees at Bach Dang, as a part of the
companys local activities for Fords ninth annual Global Week of Caring.
In the coming days, the volunteers will hold a charity fair at the companys Hai Duong Plant to
raise money to support disadvantaged fishermen in Kim Lai village these funds will be used to
install a filter to provide safe drinking water. The volunteers will also be working with locals in
Kim Lai to provide information about ensuring the sanitation of water supplies, as well as
pollution issues.
Next month, the Ford Vietnam will use money from both its Global Week of Caring fund and its
Better World Plan fund to build a new wall for a struggling local school near the companys Hai
Duong plant. Volunteers will be conducting a Play Day for children, in which they will also be
providing education about road safety.
The volunteers have already undertaken charitable activities at Nam Son secondary school
(Soc Son province, Hanoi) in late August, cleaning classrooms, installing a water filter, and
providing scholarships and bicycles for disadvantaged children.

our Global Week of Caring activities in Vietnamits very much indicative of the positive culture
that weve worked to foster at Ford Vietnam, said Jesus Metelo Arias, Managing Director of
Ford Vietnam. Whether its working at schools to help provide children with better learning
environments, assisting struggling communities by improving their water supplies, or getting
involved in bettering the environment for the general community, I am proud to say that our
volunteers have put in a great deal of effort, and will continue to do so, in order to help improve
the lives of others in our community.
In all, more than 13,000 volunteers from Ford operations on six continents Africa, Asia,
Australia, Europe, North America and South America will contribute 81,000 hours of expertise
and labor to improve their communities during the companys Global Week of Caring.
Ford volunteers are putting a special emphasis on projects that support and protect water
resources, a basic necessity for people everywhere. This is in keeping with the companys
corporate water strategy aimed at understanding and reducing water consumption at its global
facilities and across its supply base.

In Asia Pacific alone, 5,300 Ford volunteers will participate in over 80 projects in China, India,
Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, and seven
emerging markets, including Cambodia, Singapore, Laos, Guam, Tahiti, Tahiti, Vanuatu and
New Caledonia to support local schools and kids, local community and improve the
environment.
In addition to thousands of volunteers, Ford also is contributing $348,000 to nonprofit partners
to purchase the tools, supplies and materials needed to complete many of the community
service projects.
Ford Global Week of Caring is one of the many ways Ford and its employees are going further
to improve the quality of life for people in the communities where we live and work, said Jim
