Second Issue Plot:
On May 3, 1982 Edwin and Jane got married under the Islamic rites.
Edwin was a Muslim ever since
Jane converted into Muslim on April 3, 1982 ; prior to their marriage
Due to undying love and admiration, the two got married again on July 2, 1982
Such second marriage was solemnized by RTC Judge of Quezon City under Civil Rites
After some time, the two had various misunderstandings and differences, hence Edwin filed a
divorce by Talaq under Muslim Law on December 18, 1983
Such reconciliation seems to be impossible thus the Sharia Courts rendered the divorce decree
dated June 18, 1992.
Marvin, sometime after the filing of the divorce decree of Jane, courted and flirted with her.
Marvin, having no knowledge that Jane had a prior marriage with Edwin.
Since he was mesmerized by the stunning beauty of Jane, he proposed for marriage and then
got wed on June 18, 1995.
Edwin came into a realization that his true love was Jane. He wants her back and so, He
searched every corners of the Philippines to see Jane.
He saw Jane with Marvin. They were very happy.
He confronted Marvin and said that Jane was already married to him.
Jane told Marvin that they were already divorced
Edwin invokes their second marriage and that such was not yet dissolved because it was
solemnized under Civil rites
Marvin got very angry, and decided to leave Jane.
Feeling disappointed of what happened to him, he filed a case for bigamy.
