SCHOLARSHIPS

Acadia PTA Scholarship – Two scholarships of $750 each are being offered to deserving seniors who attended for at least two full
years and graduated from Acadia. Student must plan to attend a two or four year college or a technical school. Student must have a
satisfactory academic record (B or above) and demonstrate participation in extra-curricular activities, in-service activities, sports,
clubs, family responsibilities, employment and/or music. Deadline to the Counseling Center is March 5, 2010.

American Legion Auxiliary is offering 6 scholarships: Department Scholarship, Department District Scholarship, Raymond T.
Wellington Jr. Memorial Scholarship, 1st Lt. Michael L. Lewis Jr. Memorial Fund Scholarship, The Helen Klimek Student Scholarship
and Maryann K. Murtha Memorial Scholarship. More information and applications are available in the Counseling Center and are due
back in the Counseling Center February 2, 2010.

Arongen Elementary PTA Scholarship will award three $500 scholarships to a deserving senior who formerly attended for at least
two years and graduated from Arongen. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by March 1, 2010.

AT&T & The Better Business Bureau Science and Technology Scholarship – recognizes college bound seniors. Seniors must
currently attend a high school located in the 50 county upstate NY service territories and have a commitment to pursue a Bachelor of
Science degree at an accredited college or university. Three students will be chosen from upstate, 1st place $3,000, 2nd place $2,000
and 3rd place $1,000. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and are due back by February 1, 2010.

Berkshire Bank Foundation is offering three $2,000 scholarships for seniors with a record of volunteerism in the community in non-
school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities. Applicants must have a GPA of 85, a total family
income under $75,000 and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college or technical school. Applications are available in the Counseling
Center or may be downloaded at www.berkshirebank.com. Deadline to the Counseling Center is March 10, 2010.

Better Business Bureau “Student of Integrity Award” recognizes a college bound student in their senior year who exemplifies the
Bureau’s standards of ethics and integrity (which you may read over on their website at www.bbb.org). Students must plan on
attending an accredited college of his or her choice. Better Business Bureau wants to recognize a student who not only succeeded in
academics, but community involvement, leadership, and ethics. Only one application per school will be sent to BBB where judges
will select two students to receive a scholarship of $2,000.00 each. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and need to be
completed by February 1, 2010.

Capital District SUSU Women’s Club Scholarship will award $500 to a senior who has been accepted at an accredited institution
for the academic school year. Families of Capital District SUSU Women’s Club are prohibited from participating. Judging will be
based on an essay, community activities, transcript and references. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be
returned by March 1, 2010.

Chango Elementary PTA Scholarship – Two scholarships of $750 each will be awarded to graduating seniors. Student must be a
graduate of Chango and have attended at least two years. Student must also have a satisfactory academic record (B or above) and
demonstrate participation in at least two of the following areas: extra-curricular activities, sports, clubs, community activities, family
responsibilities, and/or employment. Deadline to the Counseling Center is March 1, 2010.

Christy Fund - This scholarship was set up in remembrance of Christina Massa, a member of the Class of 2002. The fund will award
four $500 grants to student athletes who plan to continue their secondary education and one $500 grant to a student who has taken a
business sequence and plans to continue their secondary education in Business/Marketing. Deadline is March 8, 2010.

Dollars for Scholars – is offering several scholarships: Community News Scholarship, Adam Haswell Memorial Scholarship, Susan
Jill Hughes Memorial Scholarship, Knights of Columbus Scholarship, New York Long Term Care Brokers Ltd., Nicole Lee Memorial
Scholarship, Patrick James O’Donnell Memorial Scholarship, Matthew Proctor Memorial Scholarship, and John J. Sanvidge Memorial
Scholarship. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by February 22, 2010.

First New York Federal Credit Union Scholarship – There will be three $1,000 scholarships available to graduating seniors who
meet the following criteria: must be a First New York FCU member in good standing, students planning to attend an accredited two
or four year college and must be an active volunteer and/or active in the community. Deadline to Counseling Center is February 22,
2010.
Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library Community Scholarship – will award two scholarships of $1,000 each.
One award will be given to a Shenendehowa High School student and one will be given to a resident of the library tax district who
does not need to be a Shenendehowa High School student. Students must plan to attend an accredited two or four year college or
university in the fall of 2010. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and also the library. Applications need to be
returned to the library by March 5, 2010.

Gowana PTA – is offering two $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who attended Gowana for at least 2 years. The
major emphasis of these awards is on student academic achievement during high school and involvement in extracurricular and
service activities. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned completed by March 5, 2010.

Hudson River Community Credit Union is offering two different scholarships to students who are credit union members. One is
the 2010 Making Life Better Scholarship for $1,000 to seniors who are planning to attend college in fall 2010. Students must have
completed 40 + hours of community service work over the last 12 months. The second scholarship is the 2010 College Scholarship
Program which is four $1,000 scholarships to seniors planning to attend college in the fall. Applications are available in the
Counseling Center and must be returned by March 11, 2010.

James Grande Award for Volunteerism – will award $750 to a student who is applying to a 2 or 4 year college. The college bound
student must demonstrate outstanding traits of character and service as evidenced by participation in volunteer activities at school
and/or in the community. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and the deadline is March 18, 2010.

Karigon PTA is offering two $750 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who formerly attended Karigon for at least two
years and plan on attending either a 2 or 4 year college. Applications are in the Counseling Center and must be returned by March 1st.

Koda Middle School PTA Scholarship – will award three $500 scholarships to deserving high school seniors who formerly attended
and graduated from Koda. Student must be planning to attend a two or four year college or university in the fall of 2010.
Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by March 1, 2010.

Macedonia Scholarship Fund is offering a $1000 scholarship to students of African ancestry who maintain a GPA of 85 or greater
and serve in a leadership position in school, religious institution, community and/or civic organization. This may be used to purchase
textbooks upon matriculating in an accredited two or four year college or university. More information and applications are available
in the Counseling Center. Application deadline to the Counseling Center is March 18, 2010.

Okte Elementary PTA Scholarship will award three scholarships of $500 each to deserving seniors who formally attended Okte.
The scholarship will be paid by the beginning of the fall semester to each recipient’s college or university. More information is
available in the counseling center. Applications must be returned by March 1, 2010.

Phi Beta Kappa is awarding a $750 scholarship to two area high school graduates from this region planning to enter college in the
fall of 2010. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by February 8, 2010.

Skano Elementary PTA Scholarships- Three $750 scholarships to former Skano students, two academic scholarships and one in
memory of Lisa Kunz, who was a dedicated Skano parent. The student must have graduated from Skano and attended for at least two
years. The student must also have a grade point average of at least 80 or higher. Applications are available in the Counseling Center
and should be returned by March 1, 2010.

Southern Saratoga County Women’s Club - The criteria for this $500 scholarship is based both on financial need and academics.
More information and applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by March 1, 2010.

Tesago PTA Vincent R. DeLucia Scholarship is proud to offer two $750 scholarships to former Tesago students. Applications are
available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by March 5, 2010.

Tina A. Dailey Memorial Scholarship – A $1,000 scholarship is offered to a Shenendehowa High School graduate who plans to
attend a four year college or university to pursue a degree and career as an elementary teacher. Students must have maintained a
minimum of an 80 average and has demonstrated an interest and/or skill in working with children. Applications are available in the
Counseling Center and must be returned by March 1, 2010.

Zonta Club of Schenectady is offering (2) scholarships; Young Women in Public Affairs which recognizes pre-university or pre-
college high school senior women who show evidence of active commitment to volunteerism, volunteer leadership achievements and
dedication to advancing the status of women world-wide. District recipients receive $1,000 and five international recipients are
selected from district recipients to receive $3,000 each. The Jean M. Coon Humanitarian award is $400 and is given for outstanding
community service. More information and applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by February 1,
2010.
WORKSHOPS, OPEN HOUSES, CONTESTS AND OTHER SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:

The Saratoga/Capital District Region of the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation conducts a Lifeguard Testing
Program to select lifeguards for summer employment throughout the state. Packets are available in the Counseling Center.

The State University of New York is hosting Statewide Student Financial Aid Days on Saturday, January 23, 2010 and Saturday,
February 27, 2010 to answer questions and provide assistance regarding the financial aid application. Students may register online at
www.suny.edu/studentevents or call 1-800-342-3811 for more information.
