What is environment pollution? Environment pollution is a term that refers to all the
ways that human activity harms the natural environment. The pollutants are clearly defined and
measured and can be directly related to biological, ecological, and human health effects. This
includes air, water, and soil pollution and climate change. The World Health Organization
(WHO) estimates that about a quarter of the diseases facing mankind today occur due to
prolonged exposure to environmental pollution. Most of these environment-related diseases are
however not easily detected and may be acquired during childhood and manifested later in
adulthood. The haze is a constant phenomenon faced by Malaysian and their neighboring
countries. The haze basically is a pollution of atmosphere, which is clogged with pollutants and
other substances from forest fires. There are four ways on how to protect you from haze.
Firstly, local air quality updates. Besides, you can check air quality from Malaysian
Meteorological Department which is vital to give authentic information to help you make
informed, health-protective decisions about moving or vacationing. They also allow you to
compare air quality between counties, based on specific health concerns or activity level. You
can also use it to get the monthly average of unhealthy air quality days for one state or multiple
states.
.

Secondly, avoid outdoor activities, especially outdoor sports. This is because the people

most affected are the children, pregnant women and the elderly. Inside haze, particles are called
PM10. Breathing in an excess of these particles can gain a persons risk of establish viral and
bacterial infections such as heart and lung diseases, cancer and stroke. While the massive air
particles are filtered out by the respiratory tract, tiny particles are typically deposited in the
lungs. These tiny particles can accumulate over time and harm the body. For example, hospitals
and clinics report a dramatic increase in respiratory problems, lung infections and asthma
attacks. The Air Pollution Index (API) usually indicates the hazardous and dangerous levels of
pollution during this period. The haze has long-term side effects. Thus, prolonged inhalation of
polluted air will result in serious lung infection which particularly affects the elderly.

Thirdly, stay hydrate by drinking a lot of water. By taking fruits and vegetables are
another alternative besides drinking water. Moreover it infused with high water content for you
to consume. Staying hydrated will help regulate toxins and waste in your body. Your lungs and
skin are absorbing the toxins caused by breathing in the haze and this means your kidneys are
working overtime to ensure everything runs smoothly. Drinking more water helps your kidneys
work in excreting the toxins caused by the haze.

Lastly, avoid driving if your visibility is bad. As the visibility levels drop due haze,
driving can be a nightmare for you. The worst affected areas due to fog are outskirts of a city,
highways, road networks around a river, roads with farms on sides, especially if its a rice farm,
and places with less habitation. Besides, it will bring to accidents. For example, a high level of
haze caused visibility in the vicinity of the road into the grave by smoke-insulated sound stages.
Therefore, if you cannot avoid driving, do not speed and drive at a speed that suit conditions.
They are four main in conclusion to protect from haze is pay attention to local air quality
updates, avoid outdoor activities, especially outdoor sports, drink more water and increase the
take of fresh fruits and vegetable and lastly is avoid driving if visibility is bad. My advice is
everyone must response reliability to take our environment. In my opinion, every individual have
to remember that we do not own the world, but instead we lent it from our future generations.
We must protect our world so that our grandchildren would have a healthy earth to live.
