Proposed Scope of Presentations

A first category of presentations and workshops can relate to one or more components of a
geospatial infrastructure, hence, the geospatial data policies and co-ordination frameworks,

the technology and standards, human resources, and related activities necessary to
acquire, process, distribute, use, maintain, and preserve geospatial spatial data. Presenters
and workshop organizers are particularly encouraged to document the perceived or
expected effectiveness and efficiency gains of using geospatial infrastructures.
With regard to' geospatial data policies and co-ordination frameworks' presenters or

workshop proposals could cover:

The nature and scope of the policy and/or co-ordination framework in terms of
geographical coverage - local, national, regional or global.
What specific or cross- community aspects has been addressed through the policy
How and who does the policy covers in its mandate
How has it facilitated development/advancement of meeting the goals of the policy
and/or framework
Best practices, major challenges encountered and lessons learned

With regard to 'the technologies and standards necessary to acquire, process, distribute,
use, maintain, and preserve spatial data', presenters or workshop proposals should

cover:

The specific scope and features of the technology, standards or products

Unique features and value proposition of specific technology, standards vis-a-vis other
existing technologies/standards
Name associated technologies (both geospatial and mainstream) required for using
technology/product by users
What are the major applications of the technology/standards
Name existing and potential challenges in deployment of the technology/products

A second category of presentations and workshops can focus both on the requirements of
public sector policies and/or the private sector for data, information and services, and on
demonstrations and reports of user practices.
For requirements

Present the policy background and/or business case

Present the data/information requirements and work flow process of the policies and/or
business

For User practices

Present the scope and objectives of using geospatial infrastructures & technologies
Describe the geospatial and other relevant data and information policies and coordination frameworks in place to support the practice, their strengths and weaknesses.
Describe the types of geospatial data used, how they are organized and managed.
Describe the type of standards and technology solutions implemented to share data and
information with the eventual different user stakeholder communities.
Document the added value in terms of efficiency and effectiveness through using
geospatial infrastructures where possible
Comment on major hindrances and shortcomings of geospatial technology and
infrastructures and possible ways to overcome them.
