Invitation to participate in the CFA Research Challenge 2015

Dear students,
As professor of finance and faculty advisor of the CFA Institute Research Challenge team at the
Faculty of International Business and Economics, I am inviting all 3rd year bachelor students and all
master students from our faculty to send their applications to be part of the team that will compete in
this years edition.
CFA Institute is an international organization dedicated to the promotion of ethical and professional
standards in the financial industry. CFA Institute administers the prestigious investment designation

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university
students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in
teams to research and analyze a publicly traded stock sometimes even meeting face-to-face with
company management. Each team produces an initiation-of-coverage report on their assigned stock
with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation and may be asked to present and defend their thesis to a

Starting in 2012, CFA Romania, the Romanian society affiliated to CFA Institute, has organized the
local edition of the international competition CFA Institute Research Challenge. Teams from all
major universities in Romania and the Republic of Moldova have participated. The winners have
advanced to the regional stage, where they competed against winners from the other countries in the
region (EMEA).
There are multiple benefits from participating in this competition, including:
Exposure to the top management of a stock exchange listed company
Direct interaction and mentoring from holders of the CFA designation
Opportunity to compete at the international level
Opportunity to advertise oneself to representatives of the major companies in banking, asset
management and finance industries, in Romania, and abroad
If you:

speak and write English fluently

are interested in financial analysis and plan a career in the financial industry
are proficient in working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
have basic knowledge of finance and accounting
are a 3rd year bachelor student or master student at the Faculty of International Business and

Economics
send your CV and transcript of grades (print screen from the student webpage would do) to
sorin.ase@gmail.com with the subject "CFA Institute Research Challenge application" by Friday,
Oct. 17 2014.
