As I was taking the confessions, a young lady

who Ammermans have been talking with (she is working for them in the house)
stepped forward and will be baptized today. When the service had closed, a
strong man whom we have known for several years and was here to help care
for his mother-in-law who was a patient, walked up and said he wanted to
take Christ as his Saviour and be baptized. So today again the Chapel Bap

For this month I guess I'll close, but will be anxious for next
month to report what God is doing through your gifts, as we anticipate ex
citing service each day of the weeks. May God richly bless you.

Dear Co-Worker:

Greetings in the name ' of Christ. The aftermath of the hospital

dedication, isn't what we expected at all. We h^d though"^ things would
quiet down" a little bit, but. there were still many things to be done
to finish up. Much excitement had been created toward the dedication,
and praise God we are still "wound up" with new excitement. Within the
first three weeks after dedication seventeen people accepted Christ and

were baptized in the new hospital Chapel.

Several of the hospital con

struction crew have also become Christians, and now several more are
strongly indicating their belief in Jesus Christ, and desire to be

obedient to Him.

A slide set is now ready about the hospital.

we suggest

We mainly would like

to be with the regular supporters, reporting

fully and discussing freely what has been done; and, outline future
plans for your consideration. Our hope is that you would contact us
with your preference of time, and we'll try to work it all out to your
convenience.

I regret that Helen, much of the time, must remain with our three
children, two of whom will be in school at Metz, Missouri near to her

It really isn't as bad as it sounds, I guess. We would ask your

Dear Christian Friends:

Greetings in the name of Christ.

The miles went quiclcly as we :

journeyed on the airliner from Salisbury, Rhodesia to Chicago, Illinois.

Total flight time was about twenty-twoJ hours traveling at about 550. M.P.H.
Vile were met in Chicago at 5 P*M., August 5th by a bus from the Church at^
Lowell, Indiana which brought loved ones and friends.
Farewell From Rhodesia

It was hard leaving Rhodesia; For, it. seems that the work Is
now blossoming out with unlimited opportunities as never before since we
moved there seven years ago. About 300 to 400 people of Chief Dandawa's

area, including many leaders attended as well and brought gifts and words
of thanks. Pood was served to all as well and we enjoyed a rich time
together. We are anxious to return as soon as. possible in mid-1969.
While In The U.S.A.

We are amazed at the requests for speaking dates and feel

honored that God is opening these opportunities to preach the Gospel and
present it's effect as preached in Rhodesia this past missionary term.
There are many to report too, especially because we were involved in the

Christian Hospital program so closely, l/i/e hope we can see many of you
personally to report and express our thanks. I'll be teaching a class
at the 21st National Missionary Convention, and hope to see many of you
there.

Helen and the children will settlt near the Church at Rlnehart,
(near Horton, Missouri) where two of our three children will attend school

W regret that we'll be apart, and thus not able to visit you as a family.
You are so wonderful and sacrificial in your giving and we make
no apology when asking you to continue giving while we are here in the
U.S.A. The hospital "chapel is not yet paid for, and with about 25 to 40

being converted each month through the chaplaincy program, we are thrilled
and know that it is worth whatever sacrifice we can possibly make. W had
to borrow some funds for our travel to the U.S. and these must be returned.

It is so kind of you to express your love through prayers and support, ...

Reporting of Their Work

Chidamoyo Mission - 1962 Through 1968

A Witness Through Medicine

It was the ninth of April 1964, that the missionaries at Chidamoyo, in consultation with Dr.

on furlough;

WALTER BIRNEY would lead in the campaign. Bricks had been made, and now the moment had come for ground
breaking.

Two years of sweat and toil in construction and sacrifice by those who are giving to this project produced
a 22,000 square foot building at the cost of $3.50 per square foot. This includes the lovely chapel which is not
yet paid for. We request your prayers and help in this regard.
Christian Hospital-ChidamoyoMi ssion was dedicated on the 20th of January, 1968, and now stands as a beacon
of light not only to physical suffering, but ever pointing the way of the thousands who will enter to Jesus, the
Great Physician. Dr. Dale Erickson is now in charge of the hospital and cost of operation, supplemented by the
Rhodesian Government and hospital fees of the patients.
The work is |ust beginning, and we are thrilled at the many conversions through the work of the medical staff
and the hospital chaplain.

Present Goals - "That They May Know"

Having consulted with other missionaries, and praying for some time, the Ziden L. Nutt family will transfer to
Sinoia, Lord willing. They will relieve the Dole E. Marshall family who will be due for furlough.
Having lived in Rhodesia seven years, Ziden will produce filmstrips based around African culture and language,
using them in nightly gospel meetings, and olso in a concentrated program for training local church leaders.

Prayers for help were answered. The Lord of Harvest raised up BRUCE AMMERMAN and family who arrived

scripture in the schools begun, and, a class for young recruits.

out of the bush at Chidamoyo by volunteer labor. Twelve farms and schools were being preached in, and there

Spotlight African Leadership in

Churches, As hundreds come to Christ

and begin to evangelize their oun peo

ple, ue concentrate on developing a
local church leadership. One group of
about twenty live men were led by Ziden
as seen in the picture. Already there
are churches functioning by themselves
with a lay-leadership in the Chidamoyo
area.

A vital role in missionary life is

secretarial. Besides being a housewife
and mother of three, Helen spends many
hours in the office helping with office
duties, such as reporting to those who
support the work, and supplying infor
mation to our forwarding agents, Mr.
and Mrs.

Ziden E.

Christian Day Schools offer a tremendous opportunity to

if God permits. Much of the church work has been started
by those who have come from Christian day schools. Their
are four in the Chidamoyo area led by Bruce Ammerman.
