in order to:
- Familiarise with models applied in research of similar
focuses;
- Spot weaknesses of existing models, those deal with the
identification of ideology in translation, in the discipline.
Conduct an initial analysis of the chosen translations and
identify issues that need to be addressed:
- Comparative analysis of controversial verses;
- Design an analytical framework that covers all the issues
concerned.
Read concepts in the field of sociology regarding ideology,
focusing on:
- Multiple interpretations and definitions of the concept;
Write a literature review, defining the concept (3,000 words).
Read concepts in the field of sociology regarding ideology,
focusing on:
- Discourse and Ideology
Write a literature review, discussing how ideology impinges in
discourse (4,000 words).
Read concepts in the field of sociology regarding ideology,
focusing on:
- Ideology and Religion
Write a literature review on this regards (4,000 words).
Read models of discourse analysis, focusing on the work of:
- Norman Fairclough
- Ian Mason
- Establish potential points of applicability of these models
with new adjustments.
- Apply CDA to materials collected.
Write an initial analysis through the application of the analytical
model (5,000 words) and discuss with supervisors on:
- The validity of materials;
- The applicability of the model of analysis;
- Pointing out issues in the methodology.

- Grammatical aspects of Ideology.
Write a literature review of 8,000 words discussing how
ideology could be traced in grammar.
Analyse materials identified as having grammatical aspects of
ideology and add them to this chapter. 4,000 words expected.
Reading up to date books and papers that focus on:
- Lexical aspects of Ideology.
Write a literature review of 8,000 words discussing how
ideology occurs in vocabulary.
Analyse materials spotted as having lexical aspects of ideology
and add them to this chapter. 4,000 words expected.
Reading up to date books and papers that focus on:
- Stylistic aspects of Ideology.
Write a literature review of 8,000 words discussing how style
can become a heaven for ideology.
Analyse materials that have stylistic aspects of ideology and
include them to the literature review to develop this chapter.
4,000 words expected.
Having organised the materials in various chapters, I move
forward to finish all textual comparisons and discuss them with
supervisors seeking a systematic feedback.
Send out samples of analysis to academics and specialised in the
field of Quran translation, so to seek further criticisms regarding
any potential weak points highlighted in the analytical model of
materials.
Refining the analysis of materials, approving new possible
amendments for the final drawing of the comparative analysis
and finally discuss them with supervisors.
Reading in the field of Translation Studies in order to explore
the relationship between ideology and translation.
Write a literature review of 12,000 words which constitutes
chapter two.
Consider reading regarding the syntactical aspects of ideology
and see whether they are applicable to the case study.
Refine the case study in case of adding any syntactical aspects
analysed examples.
Write the introduction of the dissertation and focus on refining
research questions, structure and methodology. 7,500 words
expected.
Send out samples of the thesis to experts in the field, so to
receive critique for optimizing the work.

Define potential weaknesses and address them in conclusion of

the research. Write a full draft of the conclusion and discuss it
with supervisors. 7,500 words expected.
Make changes based on views of critiques and discuss them
with supervisors. Prepare a full draft of the dissertation.
Final editing, proofreading and preparation for submission and
viva. The whole thesis is expected to have 80,000 words.
