The 11th edition of the FIFA Club World Cup will be held in Morocco for the second time in a row.
To date, three Brazilian clubs (Corinthians in 2000 & 2012, So Paulo FC in 2005, and Sport Club International in
2006), two Italian clubs (AC Milan in 2007 and FC Internazionale in 2010), one Spanish club (FC Barcelona in 2009
and 2011), one English club (Manchester United in 2008), and one German club (Bayern Mnchen in 2013) have
won the FIFA Club World Cup.
FC Barcelona (ESP) and Corinthians (BRA) are the only clubs to have won the tournament twice.
The 2014 edition will greet five newcomers: Moghreb Athletic Ttouan (MAR), ES Stif (ALG), Western Sydney
Wanderers FC (AUS), Cruz Azul FC (MEX), CA San Lorenzo (ARG).
So far, 49 different teams have participated in the FIFA Club World Cup. Only two teams have competed in five
editions of this tournament, Al Ahly SC (EGY) and Auckland City FC (NZL), making the upcoming 2014 competition
the sixth participation for Auckland City FC.
Daniel Koprivcic (NZL) is the only player to have played in six editions of the FIFA Club World Cup. The midfielder
saw action in 2007 and 2008 with Waitakere United, and has featured in four tournaments with Auckland City
since 2009.
The Brazilians Dida and Danilo and Spains Thiago are the only players to have won the tournament twice with two
different teams. Goalkeeper Dida with Corinthians (BRA) in 2000 and AC Milan (ITA) in 2007; Danilo with So
Paulo FC (BRA) in 2005 and with Corinthians (BRA) in 2012; Thiago with FC Barcelona (ESP) in 2011 and Bayern
Mnchen (GER) in 2013.
Filippo Inzaghi (ITA) and Lionel Messi (ARG) are the only players who have scored a brace in a FIFA Club World Cup
final. In 2007 Inzaghi scored two goals for AC Milan (ITA) against Boca Juniors (ARG). Messis two goals were for
FC Barcelona (ESP) in the 2011 final against Santos FC (BRA).
Ronaldinho (FC Barcelona and Clube Atltico Mineiro), Dwight Yorke (Manchester United and Sydney FC) and Neri
Cardozo (Boca Juniors and Monterrey) are the only players to have scored for more than one team in the
competition.
Topping the overall list of goalscorers with five goals is Argentinian player Csar Delgado (2012, 2013).
Sanfrecce Hiroshimas Toshihiro Aoyamas (JPN) goal against Auckland City (NZL) in the opening game of the 2012
event was the 200th goal in the history of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The 2013 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup went down in history with the highest goal average of 3.5 (28 goals
in 8 matches).
The adidas Golden Boot was presented once in 2000 and has not been awarded since. The adidas Golden Ball and
the FIFA Fair Play Award, however, have been presented since the tournaments inception in 2000.
Five consecutive finals between 2005 and 2009 were all between teams from South America and Europe, but that
run ended in 2010 when TP Mazembe Englebert (COD) played FC Internazionale (ITA), thereby becoming the first
African team to reach the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
With six different clubs, Brazil have had the most number of participating teams. Including this years newcomer
Cruz Azul FC, Mexico will also have had six different clubs taking part.
With the participation of ES Stif in the 2014 edition, Algeria will be represented for the first time (new total of 24
different countries).

History
Intercontinental and Toyota Cup
Between 1960 and 1968, the Intercontinental Cup was a competition endorsed by UEFA and CONMEBOL and
contested between the winners of the European Champions Cup and the South American Copa Libertadores.
The system of play was a home-and-away series, decided by points only (the same format used by CONMEBOL
to determine the winner of the Copa Libertadores final until 1987). Because of this format, a third match was
needed when both teams were tied on points.
From 1969 to 1979, the Intercontinental Cup continued as a two-leg competition between the UEFA and the
CONMEBOL club champions. However, it adopted the European standard method to decide the winner by
adding the goals of both matches to the aggregate score.
As of 1980 and until 2004, the competition was held as a single match in Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan. It was
called the Toyota Cup, named after its sponsor.
