Professional Non-Profit Auditing Services
Proposal Due Date: January 30, 2015
Our organization is accepting proposals from auditing firms to provide audit (and tax)
services for our 2014 fiscal year. We invite your firm to submit a proposal by close of
business Friday, January 30, 2015, for consideration. Proposals received after this date will
not be considered.
Background of RETHINK
Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools (KRNOS) is a 501 (C) (3) non pro-fit organization; the
organization employs 8 people in one location. Rethink is a youth organizing and
leadership development organization that uses participatory education and action
research to build organizing and leadership skills of New Orleans youth. Our mission is
to support young people in becoming thoughtful and capable leaders through the
process of rethinking their experiences in their own school communities and taking
action to make systemic improvements. The organization has a December 31 fiscal
year end.
Scope of Services:
Your proposal is expected to cover the following services:
1. Annual audit and meetings with finance committee and or board of directors, as
necessary.
2. Final audit presented to Board of Directors.
3. Year-end tax filings for the organization.
4. Produce statements and print audit reports.

PROPOSAL:
In responding in to this request, please:
1. Detail your firms experience in providing auditing and tax services to
companies in the not-for-profit sector. Provide information on whether your
firm will provide services to any related industry associations or groups.
2. Discuss the firms independence with respect to KRNOS.
3. Identify the five largest non-profit clients for which your firm has performed
audit services. Also, identify any clients your firm has lost in the past three
years and the reasons. Finally discuss instances where loss of the client was
due to an unresolved auditing or accounting matter and the process of
attempting to resolve the issue(s).
4. Identify the partner, manager, and in-charge accountant who will be
assigned to our job if you are successful in your bid, and provide biographies.
Indicate any complaints against them that have been leveled by the state
board of accounting or other regulatory authority, if any. Indicate any
corrective actions that have been taken by the firm with respect to these
people.
Also, please provide the following:
Participation of senior audit personal assigned to engagement;
Frequency of contact with fiscal personnel
Availability of staff to respond to questions within the scope of the
engagement and the hourly charge, if any, for services outside the
scope of the audit.
5. Describe how your firm will approach the audit of the organization, including
the use of any association or affiliate member firm personnel and the areas
that will receive primary emphasis. Also discuss the firms use of technology
in the audit. And finally, discuss the communication process used by the firm
to discuss issues with the management and audit committees of the board.

6. Set forth your fee proposal for the 2015 though 2018 audits. Provide your
proposed fee for the required year-end tax preparation (990) and other audit
services as outlined in the Scope of Services.
7. Describe what your firm considers to be services which fall outside the scope
of the audit; also provide the hourly charge, if any for those services.

8. Provide the estimated number of hours to complete the audit by
classification of your employees, i.e. partners, managers, audit staff, etc.
9. Provide a detailed list of expenses to be incurred, i.e. mileage, per diem,
telephone, etc.
10. Provide the names and contact information of other, similarly sized clients
of the partner and manager that will be assigned to our organization for
reference purposes.
11. Describe how and why you firm is different from other firms being
considered, and why our selection of your firm as our independent
accountants is the best decision we could make.
12. Include a copy of your firms most recent peer report, the related letter of
comments and the firms response to the letter of comments.

Evaluation of Proposals
KRNOS will evaluate proposals on a qualitative basis. This includes our review of
the firms peer review report and related materials, interviews with senior
engagement personnel to be assigned to our organization, results of discussions
with other clients, and the firms completeness and timeliness in its response to
us. The final discussions of the selection of the firm to conduct the audit will be
made by KRNOS Board of Directors. The final agreement will be in the form of a
written contract following the standard agreement form used by auditing firms.
