Philippine National Police Director General Alan Purisima Case

Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Alan Purisima is facing plunder and graft
charges for alleged bribery and accumulation of illegal wealth.Purisima defended the P11-million
donation from his friends in the construction industry, saying that the donation was made to the
PNP as an institution and not to him personally.
His friends, who he said had no PNP contracts, offered to build the new quarters because the old
one had been submerged in floodwaters. But the process by which he approved such a donation
is whats really questionable, maybe the friends who donated the White House were probably
after a favor.Theyre not doing that out of the goodness of their hearts. As long as hes in office,
they know they can get something. Human nature being what it is and debt of gratitude being a
strong cultural trait in our society, in our country, thats what will happen. Purisima should have
spent the money for the betterment of the facilities of the PNP or the Hospitals, and not for his
private place. Like Pope Francis did, he was granted quarters for him to stay, but he chose to stay
in a modest apartment with other priests and bishops. That is a true leader, someone who thinks
of his men first before himself
Purisima also defended his 4.7 hectare Nueva Ecija property, saying he bought this with his own
money. The lot has a 204 square-meter house and has a fair market value of P3.75 million. He
said, it wasnt a mansion and doesnt have an Olympic size swimming pool but an ordinary
house and a pool which is far from being Olympic size. But noting the size of the house and the
pool, its far from being ordinary. Not anyone could afford it. Even the police chief cannot afford
it, considering his monthly salary He also insisted that he bought his Toyota land Cruiser worth
P4-million for just P1.5-million, because a dealer from Pampanga had offered him a big
discount. But who on earth would give such a huge discount without any personal interest
specially to the PNP Chief. He didnt do it for nothing, he gave it to him in a lower price hoping
that Purisima would return the favor.
His personal properties include the Prado Land Cruiser, a Toyota Hi Lux, a Starex, a Toyota
Innova, a Toyota Alphard, a backhoe, two loaders, bank deposits, books, furniture and
appliances. three houses and lots in Caloocan City, a lot in Ilocos Sur province and a
condominium unit in Cubao. Its the inconsistencies in some of his answers that really gave way
to the suspicions. It is a common sense that theres no way he was able to buy all this properties
using his own money, noting that his mothly salary is P100,000 only.Considering this properties,
I would say that Philippine National Police Director General Alan Purisima is guilty.Philippines
needs a PNP chief who has moral authority, someone who serves and protects the country and its
people.PNP Chief Alan Purisima must be jailed.
