Butterfly garland by ATERGcrochet


Material:

- each butterfly 6 colors cotton suitable for crochet needle B / 2,5mm


- I used Catania Schachenmayr / fingering weight yarn)
- velvet band 3.5 m or longer if you like
(I chose velvet so the butterflies do not slide)

Measurements

- butterfly - 5.1 x 5.1 inch /13 x 13 cm


- I filled a garland of 3m with 7 butterflies

slst = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
trc = triple crochet
picot = 3ch - slst in first ch

crochet two wings

ROUND 1

crochet 10ch stitches and join round with slst into ring
3ch (=first dc) + 21dc in ring (total 22)
join round with slst, fasten off

ROUND 2

attach a new color between 2dc last row - 1ch


(1sc between 2 dc last row - 1ch) 21 times (total 22)
join round with slst, fasten off

To crochet between the stitches = not as usual in the stitch of the last row but
insert your hook lower between the stitches.

How to attach a new color?

ROUND 3

attach a new color between 2sc last row - 1ch


(1sc between 2sc last row - 1ch) 21 times (total 22)
join round with slst, fasten off

ROUND 4

attach a new color between 2sc last row, 1ch, 1hdc in the same space, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) in
next space, 2hdc in one, 1ch, (1sc, 1ch) 8 times, 2hdc in one, (2dc, picot, 2dc) in one, 2hdc
in one, 1ch, (1sc, 1ch) 8 times, join round with slst, fasten off.

WING 2

crochet two wings

ROUND 1

crochet 10ch stitches and join round with slst into ring
3ch (=first dc) + 21dc in ring (total 22)
join round with slst, fasten off

ROUND 2

attach a new color between 2dc last row - 1ch

attach a new color between 2sc last row, 1ch, 1hdc in the same space, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) in
next space, 2hdc in one, 1ch, (1sc, 1ch) 8 times, 2hdc in one, (2dc, 7ch, 4trc together in the
4th ch, 5ch, slst (in the end stitch 4trc tog), 3ch, 2dc) in one, 2hdc in one, 1ch, (1sc, 1ch) 8
times, close with slst, fasten off

crochet chain stitches on/around the dcs of row 1 (see picture WING 1)
sew the wing parts together using 10 stitches on each side

BODY
24 ch, 4trc together in 4th st from hook - 5ch - slst [in the st of the 4trc tog]
20sc - 2ch 20sc on the other side of the chain stitches
join round with slst in the st of the 4trc together
cut thread
wind the thread 2 times around the neck
fasten off and sew on the wings using 8 stitches of wing 1 + 10 stitches of wing 2

Put the velvet band through the wings and create your garland.
