Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ 1

Once again time has escaped us, and this newsletter is overdue! Time really
flies the older we get. There is much going on, and our days are full.
We regret that we are losing one of the charter members of the work here.

Nancy McQuire is leaving the area as her husband has been posted to another
base. He is in the Royal Air Force, and is due to retire in two years. When
you reach that stage in your military career over here, the military moves you
to the base closest to your original home that is possible. We will sorely miss
Nancy, but wish her good hunting in finding a church home at her new residence.

We continue to plan for our summer intern, Becky Bartly, who should be with
us on or about May 28th. There is much that we wish to accomplish this summer
with Becky's help.
Please pray for good weather, as much of what we will be

doing is done out of doors - things like surveying, leafleting, etc.

We are

looking forward to having Becky with us.

The work here continues in an up and down circle. People continue to come
and go, and it is extremely hard to get people to make a commitment to our Lord.

Part of the problem is

teaching.

The rest of the problem is the times that we live in.

I believe that

people think that God will be satisfied with a common-law marriage as is the
government.

Jeanne continues to teach the women on Monday nights.

On Monday nights, while the women are meeting, the men gather for a time of

prayer.

It started with just Chris, Robert, and I, and has grown to average

In addition to prayer, we have been able to do some

teaching to these young Airmen. It was good to hear Andy tell Wayne that they
had been lied to when they were told to just ask Jesus into their hearts and
they were saved. He said that for the first time in the four or five years that

Please continue to raise us up in prayer.

Pray for the unsaved of this

area. Pray for our spiritual, physical arid monetary health. Pray for Lorell
who is having real marital problems.
Pray for Robert as he labors with us.
Pray for growth in numbers at Forres Christian Church. Pray that the Lord would
raise some one up to provide us with a building to meet in that would be open to
us other than Sunday mornings.

We have finished our financial statement from last year.

Total giving for

the year was $30,800.88 given by sixty different supporters. We finished the
year in the red, almost to the Pound that we were behind at the end of 1990.
What this means is that giving has increased to the point that it covers
expenditures.
In fact, we are just slightly less in the red than the end of
1990. With an increase of giving of about $400.00 per month, we could be in the
black by the end of this year, and also be putting away a small reserve for
emergencies. We ask for your prayers in this matter, that God would raise up
these funds. If you would like a full financial reporL, they will be available
after May 15th from our forwarding agent. Just drop him a note.
As some of you may know, Jeanne spent the month of February in Michigan
City, helping to nurse our son Charlie back to health after a spell in intensive
care.

want to thank all of the folk who helped during this time with meals,

transportation, prayers and a shoulder to cry on when needed,

I wish to also

thank the anonymous donor of the ticket for Jeanne to travel home and back. You
will never know how much your generosity is appreciated.
May God richly bless
you.

With the exception of the average Scottish spring head cold, which one
normally catches in March and has until February (editor's note: I'm not sure if
Jim is joking or serious here), we are enjoying fairly good health.
We are
looking forward to summer and the programs that go along with it. We will try
to be a little more prompt with our next letter.
We would love to receive
letters from any who wish to write, and will answer all that we can. We thank
all of our supporters for their faithfulness.

In His Love,

July 7,

1992

Greetings in Jesus' Name:

I promised that I would try to be more prompt with our quarterly

newsletter in our April edition.
Here i t is July already, so I
thought a few lines would be in order.
The most exciting news that we want to relay to you is that we
have introduced our people to "The Ambassadors Peace Treaty" program
of evangelism.
For those of you who are not acquainted with this
program, i t is written by John Hendee, and is available from Standard
Publishing.
It was readily adaptable to our situation and difference

in language (yes, the language is different here, mostly in usage).

We have gone over the program with three people so far, and while we
have not had any decisions from i t so far, two of the people have not
said "no" to Christ yet, and they are still thinking about accepting

Him.
Please pray for us and the people that we have taught so far,
along with those that we hope to reach in the future.
I guess the
best part of the program is that it gets our people involved with
other people.

The next most exciting news is the growth we see in some of our

people.

This past Sunday we saw two of our young mothers sing special

music in a trio with Jeanne. They did a wonderful job!! This may not
sound like much of an accomplishment, but I assure you that it is a

major break-through for these two. A year ago if anybody would have
told me that Jacqui and Lorell would even sing out loud I would not
have believed it. Jacqui is now leading the women's Bible study for
this quarter, and Lorell is teaching Sunday School. They have really
grown, and we praise God for them.
I wrote last time about our summer intern.

and the ability to sing.

They both are gifted with the children,

It is really great to have young folks

around the house again. We praise God for Becky and Tina, and the
work they are doing. We hope that they are learning a lot.
1 would like you to please pray for a family that has left the
church here this past week. They seem to feel too much pressure from
outside committments to be involved in the Lord's work, and that is a

tragic thing.

We pray that they will see how much the body of

believers here love them, and want them back with us. Please raise

them up in prayer. Their names are Chris and Sandra Penny and sons,

Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe that it is the end of October already!

We
have just, today, had our closing program for Holiday Bible Club
(V.B.S.).
We held our H.B.C. over the fall school holiday this year
to see if it would be better attended.
God really blessed usl
We
enrolled thirty-four different children, and averaged thirty a day for
the week. We also immersed three young people on Friday, October 23.
Please pray for Allan, Emma and Sarah Glen as they start their walk
with Jesus.
By the way, since we do not have a building of our own,
we
baptize
in
the
North Sea.
The
air
temperature was
about
forty-three to forty-five degrees farenheit, and the water temperature
was about thirty-four degrees.
Our closing program was also eventful. As we only have an average
attendance of eighteen to twenty people per Sunday, including nine to
eleven children, we were really pleased to have seventy-one people in
services, including our closing program, this morning.
That is double
the best attendance that we have ever had for anything before.
Praise
the Lord!!!
Many of the parents that attended this morning indicated
that they would allow their children to come to Sunday School on a
regular basis.
Threr were a few who even indicated that they might
attend as a family.
We are absolutely over- joyed at God*s greatness
and goodness!

We need to thank all of our supporters for their generosity and

dilligence in supporting the work here. A very special thank you goes
to Mark and Peggy Dace, our Forwarding Agents, for traveling to Forres
to help us with H.B.C. this year.
A special thanks also to First
Christian Church, Michigan City, IN., for allowing Mark the time and
means to come.
You will never know how much they were needed and
appreciated.

As most of you will know by now, Jeanne and I will be on furlough

from November 17, 1992, until May 11, 1993.
If you have not yet
conversed with Mark about us visiting your congregation while we are

Baptism in the
FRIGID North Sea

in the States, please do so as quickly as possible as we are trying to

get our itinerary put together.

We really want to visit all that we

can while we are on furlough.

We do have a few needs that need to be met. We are in desperate

need of an automobile while we are stateside. If there is anyone that
has a second or third car that we could use while on furlough, we
would be most grateful. Please let Mark know If you can help out in

this way. We will also have some added expense of keeping things
going here in Scotland and traveling stateside. If you can help out
it would be so appreciated also.

As I mentioned in our last newsletter, we have been using the

Ambassador's Peace Treaty to reach people for the Lord.

We were

successful in teaching Mandy Walsh, and immersed her in Christ in the

North Sea on August 23. The ladies have been having their Bible Study
in her home on Monday nights. P.T.L.IM Please pray for Mandy, and
her young daughter, Kim,

On the Friday night of October 9, we had an overnight video party

most grateful for those who have shared our home with us. We are also

looking foward to having our daughter, Terri Kay, visiting with us on

November 5th through the 17th,

Please pray for the following:

- A car for our use while on furlough.
- The congregation hers in Forres,

Robert Caudle, as he ministers here on his own during our

Increased support to allow us to enact more programs here

- Safe travel for us while stateside.

- Follow-up of those who attended H.B.C.

We are so looking foward to seeing family and friends very soon.

A Note from the Forwarding Agent

It is difficult to sum up the experiences gained in twelve days in

the country of Scotland, but I'm going to attempt my best. My wife
and I went to Scotland with the desire to help encourage Jim and
Jeanne,

and

the

people

of

the

Forres

Christian

Church,

and

was

encouraged by tnem in return. We thoroughly enjoyed working with the

children, and the other adults, in their Holiday Bible Club. The Club
not only met, but exceeded their expectations. To highlight a great
week, we were blessed with three baptisms;

and Jim and Jeanne were

estatic with the number present for the closing program.

The praises

and the honor for the week belong to God.

Two things about the work were confirmed by our trip; 1) the high
cost or living in Scotland; and 2) the great spiritual needs of the
people. While we were there, the value of the American dollar was its
highest in about three years. While the items in the stores are about

the same in Pounds, as Dollars here; as a result of the exchange rate,
