believes that the death penalty inherently violates the constitutional ban against cruel unusual
punishment and the guarantees of due process of law and equal protection under the law. Those are
against the capital punishment also state that it is an intolerable denial of civil liberties and
inconsistent with the fundamental values of our democratic system.
However, there is a difference between murder and execution. The distinction is that the first is
unlawful and undeserved; the second is a lawful and deserved punishment for unlawful act. By
committing the crime, the criminal volunteered to assume the risk of receiving a legal punishment
that he could have avoided by not committing the crime. The punishment he suffers is the
punishment he voluntary risked suffering and therefore it is more unjust to him than any other event
for which one knowingly volunteers to assume the risk.
Our resolve to crime is only as strong as the laws we pass to punish criminals. By making the
death penalty the law of the land in the New York, we have demonstrated that resolve, that
strengthening the promise that our children and future generations will grow up in a state that is
free of violence.

Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common cause of intellectual deterioration in middle-aged
and elderly North Americans, affecting more than two and one-quarter million men and women over
the age of 65. The usual symptoms of AD memory are loss and a progressive of mental faculties.
Presently, there is no cure for Alzheimers disease.
Once a person is affected by Alzheimers, it becomes more difficult for the brain to perform its
main functions. These changes in the brain are so intense and crippling that a person diagnosed with
Alzheimers disease usually dies within 10 years.
For a long time, the symptoms of Alzheimers disease (memory loss, slurred speech, and
confusion) were thought to the natural side effects of getting old. AD went unrecognized because
victims often seemed physically healthy; it was just their memory and general mental performance
that were affected.

For the past six weeks the people of my village have had no water.
We knew several months ago that our well was drying up and wrote to
the District Officer about it. He promised to send drilling equipment to dig
another well. We waited for a month but the equipment did not come.
We wrote to the District Officer again. He replied that he had decided
not to dig another well in the village but to put in piped water. We were very
pleased to hear this.
That was three months ago. Our well has now dried up. Now we have
no well and no piped water. We have written again to the District Officer but
we have received no reply.
There are 274 people in my village and we think it is disgraceful of the
District Officer to break his promise to us. If he had told us he could not help
us, we would have arranged to dig a new well ourselves. But he promised to
help; we relied on him and now we have no water. It will take us at least two
months to dig a well ourselves because we cannot afford to hire drilling
equipment.
