This exercise has similar concepts as
the wood choppers - working on full
extension while coming out of an athletic basketball position (functional
squat - triple extension). The main
differences are the thumbs lead the
motion and the ball is moved side to
side via a continuous sweeping 8
motion. Start by standing with knees
slightly flexed, feet shoulder width
apart, upper body erect - core tight,
ball extended high overhead. With
thumbs leading, arms straight, bring
ball down to one side of body, outside of and below the knee. Continue
the motion (thumbs leading) circling
the ball back overhead, and down to
the other side of the body, outside of
