The National Weather Service has described the impending snowstorm heading for the Jersey Shore as
crippling and potentially historic.
The signs are ominous, wrote National Weather
Service Meteorologist Gary Szatkowski on Twitter.
The weather service expects as much as 3 feet of
snow to fall in areas of Monmouth County and as much
as 2 feet in most of Ocean County between today and
Tuesday.
A blizzard warning was issued for New Jersey on
Sunday, warning that heavy snow and high winds will
make travel hazardous if not impossible at times, this
evening and Tuesday.
Business was busy Sunday at County Line Hardware & Lawnmower of Jackson, said Martin Flemming
III, whose family owns the business. They called in all
of the employees they could, expanding their staff
from the usual three who work each Sunday to eight,
Flemming said.
Its a normal Sunday with a snowstorm coming, he
said, noting that the store was packed with customers
who were stocking up on rock salt and shovels and
seeking repairs on their snow removal equipment.
Light snow showers will move into the region from
the Ohio Valley early this morning, but a coastal storm

call out the number of days until
Friday.
Four days!
Three days!
Two days!
The boy was not counting down because he had big weekend plans. He was anticipating
Fowler stuffing his backpack with food for Saturday
and Sunday. Why is that a big deal? Because otherwise, he might go hungry until Monday.
A lot of people dont realize there are families who
struggle to feed their kids on the weekends, said
Barbara Scholz, advocacy and programs director of
the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
To fill that need, the food bank in 2008 adopted a
backpack program that has caught on among food
pantries around the country. It started with a handful
of kids at Keansburgs Bolger Middle School and now
