Lampropeltis getulus californiae
Habitat
Southwest Oregon, through California to Baja California. South Utah and Nevada
and Western Arizona.
Forest areas, deserts but also agricultural areas
Size
Up to 130 cm
Life Expectancy
Over 15 years
Reproduction
5-10 eggs. Incubation period at 28C approx. 60-70 days. A short resting period
at 10-15C is recommended for breeding.
Temperature
Ambient air temperature between 25-28C, Natural temps up to 33C. Night turn
down to about 20-23C.
Humidity
50-60%
Lighting
Daylight fluorescent tubes e.g. "Natural Sunlight" or "Zoo Med ReptiSun 2.0" or
similar.
Substrate
Loamy soil, Aspen, Beach chippings, Desert or river sand with rocks
Dcor
Hides, Moss box, stones, roots, drift wood Mopani wood, branches climbing, a
small flat water bowl.

Vivarium Size
Minimum requirement 1x0.5x0.5m (LxWxH)
Food
Mice of appropriate sizes, small lizards and snakes
Comments
Should not be housed together as they eat other snakes including other Cali
Kings!
