article, but after looking deeper behind words, i can say that the
article is rife with holes and assumptions. Although the Dr. Karp
article provides some evidences and informations, still there are a
lot of facts that let us wonder about, and thus, not strong enough to
refute Dr Field results.
Dr. karp mentioned that he has interviewed a group of
childrens living in islands, but he forgot to indicate how many
children he has interviewed, this could be a significant factor when
determining the accuracy of his observations, let us consider that
his results were based on five or six childrens out of thousands
childrens in the village, this way his results base on those five
childrens would never reflect the traditional of the majority of
others.
A second aspect that let us wonder about is the fact that Dr
Field results were constructed and observed since twenty years, alot
of changes could happened, the traditions and cutlers changes over
the years. In my opinion twenty year is enough to allow cultures
traditions changes significantly.
Additionally, Dr Karp has not indicated any fact about what kind
of interview he has with the childrens, what kind of questions. Such
these facts could hardly shape the response of the childrens. For
example, if Dr karp questions where mainly about family issues and
directed towards there parents, his results axiomatically will refute
Dr Field results since its directed towards this.
To sum up all, Neither Dr karp nor Dr Field results would provide
an overall picture to study the behavior of childrens in poor islands,
Since each region has its special systematic life , and its worth
mentioning here that Dr Karp mentioned at the end of his article
that he would like to use his interview-centered method in another
island cultures which seems logically not reasonable.
