Answer:

In this case Martin and Green have different attitudes for operating business internationally.
Here Martin holds geocentric and Green holds ethnocentric attitude. There are different
factors those influenced their respective attitudes.
At first we consider about the attitude of Martin. He is a very well educated young man and
completed his graduation from the University of Wisconsin. There he worked with small
business project of African nations. He gathered much practical knowledge and he knew very
well how to operate business well in African countries. So, it is clear that his educational and
practical knowledge influenced him to hold geocentric attitude. He had been given a threefold
task which was quite difficult to finish without being geocentric.
Green always wanted to follow the rules of HG those mainly paid more concentration on U.S.
He thought that the company may fall in danger if they dont follow their own culture. For
example, he was worried about the recruiting strategy because it was illegal to US culture.
CEO of this company was a devout Christian and he thought that every employee should be
accountable for their job. So, Mr. Green was very much aware of following his own culture
for avoiding the risk of adopting foreign culture. He was always thinking of the international
image of HG and he didnt want to spoil its reputation by following the culture of a country
which belonged to an instable political and economical environment.
Answer:
The answer is positive. HG should employ someone who can easily mix up the corporate and
host country culture.
We think that martin is the right person who can do this very well. Construction phase is very
much important and proper monitoring as well as management is also important. Martin can
do this in a skilled way because he is very much familiar with the culture of Uganda. He
knows very well how to motivate them, how to direct them and how to make them work in a
very effective and efficient way.
Another logic for retaining Martin at construction phase is that he was the maker of primary
design of this project. He can handle this project very well than any other person. When HG
find a new man for construction phase he may need time to cope with the primary plans done
by Martin.
Martin also has some practical experience of working in Africa and those experiences help
him as well as HG to carry on the project well. After all, Martin is the person who knows well
both the company and Uganda which is too much crucial to carry out such type of project in
the environment of Uganda.
