T E C H
Overdrive Transmission vs. A Pulley Change
In 1936 Mother Harley introduced one of the benchmark
motorcycles of all time with the OHV 61 cubic inch EL. This
beautifully styled bike has become affectionately known as
the Knucklehead. What many people fail to realize is the
design of the transmission first used here would remain in
service until 1986, an incredible run of 50 years with the
same basic configuration. There where of course different
variations available in the early years, for example the standard 4 speed, a 3-speed w/reverse for sidecar use, hand
shift or foot shift. The original design was extremely bulletproof. Knuckles and Pans shared the same outer case.
The only exception was the 1965 Pan with the introduction
of the electric start. The tranny case grew a couple of ears
to support the new aluminum inner primary that the electric start bolted to and the mainshaft in the tranny got 1 /4
inch longer to accommodate these new goodies. Things
remained the same until the introduction of the alternator.
Adding an alternator affected the tranny. The primary had to
be moved out to accommodate the alternator. So the mainshaft grew again. These minor changes went on until the
demise of the 4 speed in 1986. The biggest complaint of the
4 speed was pretty universal throughout the years. Many
felt that the bike simply should have had another gear.
In 1980 Harley introduced the FLT series motorcycle.
Once again a pretty revolutionary bike in Harley history.
A rubber mounted engine with a 5-speed gearbox was the
major design change. This was in response to public opinion. What many did not understand was the final drive ratio
of the 4 speed & the 5 speed was the same 1 to 1. Many
mistakenly thought the 5th gear was an overdrive. The
lower gear ratios in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd allowed the engineers to
raise the overall gear ratio to achieve the same off the line
performance with a higher top speed.
Todays higher road speeds have raised the requests for
another gear once again. While Harley hasnt listened
yet, the aftermarket has. There are a variety of 6 speed
transmissions available these days. Baker, Jims Machine,
RevTech & Milwaukee Twins all produce overdrive gearboxes. These new trannys feature a high gear that is .86 to
1 or .80 to 1, less than the stock 1 to 1. This results in a reduction in engine RPM at a given speed, or a faster speed
at the same RPM. For example; a mid 90s softail would
have an overall ratio of 3.36 to one. This is determined by
the number of teeth on each of the gears or pulleys in the
primary drive and the secondary drive. (see figure 1 for
THUNDER ROADS MAGAZINE 6

T I P S
the changes in RPM) The problem with any overdrive type
system is that if you slow down too much in that overdrive
gear the engine will lug when you attempt to accelerate.
This is detrimental to the engine. The solution? Downshift to
accelerate.
An alternative to adding an overdrive is to change the
overall ratio of the bike to reduce engine RPM at a given
speed. When motorcycles had a chain drive secondary this
was very easy to do. Chains are easy to obtain in various
lengths to accommodate the differences a larger or smaller
sprocket would require. With the advent of the belt secondary things got more complicated. Due to the fact that belts
are fixed in application we have some serious limitations in
what we can do. In our example Softail the 3.36 to 1 ratio
was achieved with a primary ratio of 1.54 to 1 (24/37 tooth
combo) and a secondary ratio of 2.1875 to 1 (32/70). A
change to a 65 tooth rear pulley would make the secondary
ratio 2.03 and the overall ratio of 3.12. At 70 MPH engine
RPM would drop 235 revs.
When making a change like this the physical difference
in pulley diameter is of serious concern. Our example
Softail has a 132 tooth belt & a pulley center to center
distance of 22.07 inches with the stock 32/70 pulley combo.
If we change to the 65 and use the same 132 tooth belt, the
new center to center distance will need to be 22.82 inches,
or 3/4 of an inch farther apart. It is unlikely for us to have
that much room in the axle adjusting slots. We do have the
choice of changing the belt to a new length of 130 teeth
to get a center to center of 22.27 which will be much more
likely to work in the slots. One other important note is the
fact that upper & lower belt guards that work for one combination will not satisfy the needs of another.
In summary, using a six speed overdrive transmission is a
fine way to lower engine RPM. Changing pulley ratio can
get similar results as long as you understand all the variables to make it work. For further info on the content in this

There are two memorials to Uncle

Military Metal
Harley-Davidson has a long history of supporting
the military, with both the products it has supplied and in the
other ways it has shown appreciation over the years.
The first official U.S. military order for Harley-Davidson
motorcycles dates all the way back to 1916, when the U.S.
Mexican Border Conflict pitted Mexican revolutionary
Pancho Villa and his raiders against General John Blackjack
Pershing and the U.S. Army. Pershing believed in using
modern technology automobiles, airplanes, telegraphy, and
motorcycles to give the Americans the advantage. The initial
request for 12 bikes, later expanded to a grand total of 24,
included bikes attached to a sidecar gun carriage, invented
by none other than co-founder William S. Harley.
When the U.S. entered World War I, Harley-Davidsons
production ramped up aggressively to meet the demand.
Approximately one-third of all bikes made over the course of
1917 and 1918 were purchased for use in the war. While the
first bikes shipped were adapted civilian models, H-D quickly
developed the FUS and LUS models with the trademark high,
flat fenders for muddy conditions and other military-friendly
features. On November 12, 1918, one day after the armistice,
the very first American to set foot in Germany was riding a
Harley-Davidson (see Pages 8-9).
By this time, military leaders realized the motorcycle was not
a pure combat vehicle, but it would soldier on as a courier and
escort mount. It was also during the Great War that the Motor
Companys Quartermaster School which exists today as
Harley-Davidson University began training Army mechanics.
Development of motorcycles for the military did not stop
between the two World Wars. Company documents from the
1930s mention the development of a three-wheeled vehicle with
an opposed twin engine under development. Its not known if
that engine ultimately became the XA of World War II years.
Only about 1,100 of the XA bikes, with opposed cylinders
and a shaft drive, were built and shipped before the U.S.
government canceled the contract. But it did give rise to the
experimental XS, a sidecar version featuring a driven sidecar
wheel. Other experimental side projects included an engine for
a mini tank to be built for the Canadian military, with two
Knucklehead V-twin engines working in tandem. Although
this project never took hold, Canadian versions of the WLA
(the WLC) were delivered.

William S. Harley checks out the performance of motorcycles built for

World War I.

The U.S. had already shipped motorcycles to the UK and Russia

as part of the Lend-Lease Act of 1941, but after Pearl Harbor,
military production soared to numbers in the tens of thousands.
At wars end, almost 70,000 WLA models, the workhorse of
wartime American motorcycles, were in service. For its wartime
efforts, H-D was awarded the Army-Navy E Award for
Excellence in Wartime Production three straight years.
Motorcycle production for the military never again saw the levels
of the 1940s. Military versions of the smaller Sportster model were
produced in the 1960s, and saw both police and military service in
nations including Vietnam and Indonesia.
Harley-Davidsons final military motorcycles were the MT500 and lesser-known MT-350E. The MT-350E was produced in
the 1980s by Armstrong-CCM Motorcycles. When H-D acquired
Armstrongs military division, the MT-500 was already in
production. It originally saw action in the Falkland Islands
conflict (between Great Britain and Argentina), but later was
built strictly for the militaries of Canada and Jordan.
Today, Harley-Davidson continues to support groups and
programs such as the Disabled American Veterans, Rolling
Thunder motorcycle rally, Veterans of Foreign Wars (for the
National World War II Memorial), The Vietnam Traveling Memorial
Wall, and many more. Its a history of which the Motor Company
is very proud but not as proud as we are of all the fine military
men and women who have served our great country.

Corbin Introduces Fleetliner Fairing for

Triumph Thunderbird LT/Commander
Hollister, CA - Corbin has had a lot of rider requests for a
Thunderbird fairing with long range in mind...The result is
the new Fleetliner fairing. Designed to fit the Commander
and LT models, it provides excellent wind protection with
a traditional look. Comes prepainted and color matched to
your Triumph paint so its ready for immediate installation.
Subtle details like the center rib and sculpted line of the
wings add to the visual appeal. Crafted to work with the air
flow to provide more stability to the front end while relieving
rider fatigue. Another example of form and function expertly
combined in Corbin fashion.
Corbin started with a fairing shape similar to designs youve
seen on cruiser models, but improved the design to provide
better aerodynamics. Notice how the shape of the fairing
starts at the headlights and flows back to part the wind more
gracefully. This transfers the highest pressure area back to
the steering pin which gives greater stability at speed. This
shape also brings the slipstream bubble further back to get
you out of the wind.
As the fairing is designed to slip through the wind, it creates less turbulence and buffeting which gives you a quieter
and smoother ride than the standard plexiglass windshield.
Naturally this stability and low pressure slipstream for the
rider helps to relieve fatigue associated with long days on
the highway. It also helps to lower wind noise which adds to
the comfort value.

THUNDER ROADS MAGAZINE 14

Constructed of Corbins Fibertech material for a smooth

clean finish and durability, the Fleetliner fairing is available
in either solid color or two-tone paint schemes to coordinate with your stock Triumph paint.
Topped off with a smoked windscreen for a beautiful
piece that is ready to install right out of the box. Speaking of the windscreen, our fairing will actually work with
just about any windscreen or wind deflector designed for
the 1997-2006 Harley-Davidson FLHTC model fairings.
This will allow you to easily customize the performance to
your stature. A local Harley dealer can show you a selection of H-D and aftermarket models or just run with the
cool dark-smoke model that is included. If you are a taller
rider and prefer a little more wind protection, Corbin offers
an optional 10 clear windscreen in place of the smaller
smoked one.
Simple to install with complete directions and all required
brackets included. To assure a perfect look on your bike,
brackets come painted silver to give a subtle appearance.
Installation can be accomplished by an average weekend
mechanic.
For those interested in obtaining more information on
Corbin, you can reach them at 800-538-7035 or online at
www.corbin.com. Visit Corbin Headquarters at 2360 Technology Parkway, Hollister, CA. 95023 or Corbin Florida at

MINNESOTA ANTI-PROFILING MEASURE INTRODUCED
A proposed anti-profiling bill before the Minnesota House
would create rules to reduce perceived profiling of motorcycle
riders and would require several law enforcement groups
to draft anti-profiling practices when dealing with the riders.
Once drafted, law enforcement agencies would then have to
train every officer and verify that with the state. House File
59, Motorcycle Profiling, was filed on January 12, 2015 in
the state House of Representatives and referred to the Public
Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee,
and the bill stems from claims that police have been pulling over motorcyclists without reasonable cause: Purpose.
The legislature finds that the reality or public perception of
motorcycle profiling alienates people from police, hinders
community policing efforts, and causes law enforcement to
lose credibility and trust among the people law enforcement
is sworn to protect and serve. No stop initiated by a peace officer should be made without a legitimate reason; the fact that
someone rides a motorcycle or wears motorcycle paraphernalia is not a legitimate reason. Law enforcement policies
and training programs must emphasize the need to respect
the balance between the rights of all persons to be free from
unreasonable governmental intrusions and law enforcements
need to enforce the law. The measure defines motorcycle
profiling as (T)he illegal use of the fact that a person rides
a motorcycle or wears motorcycle-related accouterments as
a factor in deciding to stop and question, take enforcement
action, arrest, or search a person or vehicle with or without
a legal basis under the United States Constitution or Minnesota Constitution. HF 59 is co-sponsored by Rep. John
Petersburg (R-Waseca) who said that he signed on to the bill
in part because he heard claims of profiling on the campaign

trail. In October, he attended a forum hosted by American

Because theyre riding motorcycles and wearing motorcycle

legislative priorities. Minnesota was the first and only state
in the country to enact a biker anti-discrimination law; Minnesota Statute Section 604.12, enacted in 1998 states in part:

Require Child Safety Seats And Belts On Motorcycles A bill
that would require babies and small children to be secured
to a motorcycle with seat belts is under consideration by
South Carolina lawmakers. S.C. state Rep. Joseph Daning
(R-Berkely Co.) filed legislation (H. 3040) that would require a
standard, rear-facing child safety seat to be used for motorcycle passengers from birth up to 1 year of age, and for a
belt-positioning booster seat with both lap and shoulder belts
for children younger than 7 and weighing 40-80 pounds. We
take care of our children in cars, but theyre so unprotected
on the back of motorcycles said Daning, who added that the
bill was prompted by constituents who feared an ex-spouse
would ride their children on a motorcycle. Rep. Bill Taylor
called Danings proposal government overreach and said
motorcyclists are a safety-conscious community, but childsafety advocates support Danings efforts. Only a handful of
states impose a minimum age for riders, and South Carolina
is not one of them according to the Childrens Trust of South
Carolina, pointing out that 25 children required emergency
medical attention due to motorcycle injuries in the state
from 2007 through 2009. ABATE of SC state coordinator,
Ralph Bell, emphasized that there have been no fatalities
of passengers under 7, and said changing the law would
hinder charity events. Dennis Welborn, the state legislative
coordinator for ABATE told the Morris News Service that Its
passage would cause much more harm than good, and in
particular, mounting a child safety seat on a motorcycle would
change its center of gravity, making it unwieldy, affecting its
handling and braking abilities.
MSF CONTRACTED TO MANAGE INDIANA MOTORCYCLIST SAFETY PROGRAM The Motorcycle Safety Foundation has been awarded a four-year contract by the Indiana
Bureau of Motor Vehicles to provide motorcycle training,
beginning March 1, 2015. The contract award marks the
end of the states training relationship with ABATE of Indiana,
which had been training riders since the 1970s. According to
Jay Jackson, ABATE executive director, more than 125,000
students completed its courses during that time. The ABATE
board of directors voted not to renew its contract. The MSF
will oversee Indianas statewide training locations, provide
an Indiana-dedicated website and online class enrollment
function and administer all aspects of training, including
MSFs extensive quality control program. Indiana law requires would-be motorcycle riders to first obtain a learners
permit, and then pass a motorcycle skills test or present a
certificate of completion from a BMV-approved motorcycle
safety course. After March 1, Hoosiers who pass the MSF
Basic RiderCourse will not need to take Indianas on-cycle
skills exam. Wed like to recognize ABATE of Indiana for
their achievements in providing motorcycle training over the
past several years through the states network of training
sites and trainers, said MSF Vice President Robert Gladden.

VEHICLE DATA PRIVACY CONCERNS VOICED IN MONTANA A Montana House panel recently heard a bill to give
vehicle owners more control over the large stores of information now accumulated by newer cars and trucks, and motorcycles. House Bill 78, sponsored by Rep. Ryan Lynch (DButte), would give vehicle owners more control of that data
by codifying provisions stating that only owners, lessees and
authorized representatives can gain access to recorded data
in the event of a crash. Insurance companies already make
use of telemetrics -- the many pieces of data that reflect driving habits -- but insurance lobbyists say theyre willing to sit
down with supporters and hammer out a bill thats agreeable
to everyone. This is just one of several privacy bills the Montana Legislature will consider this session and, if enacted, the
law would become the nations strongest driver-privacy act.

FEDERAL LEGISLATION REINTRODUCED TO CURB

MOTORCYCLE-ONLY CHECKPOINTS Motorcycle-only
checkpoints would be discouraged under a bipartisan bill reintroduced January 8, 2015 by a group of senators in the new
114th Congress. The bill would prohibit the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration from issuing grants to states to
fund motorcycle-only checkpoints. Sponsoring senators say
such roadblocks are discriminatory, where riders are specifically targeted by police to check that their vehicles meet state
standards for noise, handlebar height, tire condition and other
requirements, including helmet compliance. The states of
California, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Illinois, New
Hampshire and Virginiahave all passed legislation to prohibit
motorcycle-only checkpoints.

Coconut Oil

80 TOTALLY AWESOME USES FOR COCONUT OIL

These are only suggested uses that have been gathered from many
resources. Use at your own discretion. Coconut Oil has become
extremely popular in the past 5 years even though its been around
forever. There are probably hundreds of great uses for coconut oil but we
have are only getting you started here with 80 of them. Be sure to buy
organic coconut oil. Most Wal-Mart stores carry it on the aisle with the
other cooking oils. Many grocery stores are carrying it now because of
its popularity, as well as health food stores too.
Personal Hygiene/Body:
1. Moisturizer simply scoop some out of the jar and apply all over your
body, including neck and face.
2. Eye cream apply under the eyes to reduce puffiness, bags, and
wrinkles. Use on the lids in the evening.
3. Preshave coconut oil will prep skin for the pending damage caused
by shaving.
4. Aftershave coconut oil will help heal your skin after shaving without
clogging pores.
5. Deodorant coconut oil alone can be used as a deodorant, but even
more effective in combination with cornstarch/arrowroot powder and
baking soda!
6. Hair Conditioner/Deep Treatment - use as a leave in hair conditioner
by applying a teaspoon of coconut oil to your ends and then running your
fingers through your hair to distribute the rest! For a deeper treatment,
rub in a tablespoon of coconut oil onto your dry scalp and gently work
through to the ends. Put a shower cap on to prevent transfer onto bed
linens and leave on overnight.
7. Hair Gel/Defrizzer rub a little between your palms and either scrunch
into hair (for curly hair) or finger comb in through from scalp to ends (for
wavy/straight hair).
8. Toothpaste there are numerous recipes out there but I just mix
coconut oil and baking soda and dab a little of the mix on my toothbrush.
9. Make up remover use a cotton swab and a dab of coconut oil and
you would be amazed at how well it works!
10. Chapstick just rub a little into lips and it not only acts as a softening
agent but it also has an SPF of about 4 so you get a little protection!
11. Massage Oil pretty simple; grab some and rub!
12. Lubricant it is an all natural, perfectly safe personal lubricant. Not
compatible with latex!
13. Sunscreen
14. Stretch Mark Cream coconut oil is great at nourishing damaged
skin. It may not be the magic stretch mark cure but it will help.
15. Nipple Cream works great to nourish cracked, sore, or dry nipples.
Apply to a cotton ball and leave on your nipples between feedings.
16. Diaper salve very comforting on a rashy bum with no harsh
chemicals. Also safe for cloth diapers.
17. Cradle cap having issues with dry skin on your babys scalp?
Coconut oil will not only nourish your babys skin, it also helps eliminate
cradle cap. Just rub a teaspoon onto scalp daily.
18. Body scrub mix coconut oil and sugar together and rub all over!
Rinse off and your skin will be super soft! You can add in essential oils if
you would like a specific smell.
19. Healing - when applied on scrapes and cuts, coconut oil forms a thin,
chemical layer which protects the wound from outside dust, bacteria and
virus. Coconut oil speeds up the healing process of bruises by repairing
damaged tissues. Plus, it smells a heck-of-a-lot better than anything from
the pharmacy.
20. Bug Bites when applied directly to a bug bite, coconut oil can stop

the itching and burning sensation as well as hasten the healing process.
21. Skin problems coconut oil relieves skin problems such as
psoriasis, dermatitis, and eczema.
22. Swimmers Ear mix garlic oil and coconut oil and put a few drops in
affected ear for about 10 minutes. Do this 2-3 times a day and it usually
works within one or two days.
General Health and Wellness
23. Stress Relief - relieve mental fatigue by applying coconut oil to the
head in a circular, massaging motion. The natural aroma of coconuts is
extremely soothing thus helping to lower your stress level.
24. Digestion - the saturated fats in coconut oil have anti-bacterial
properties that help control, parasites, and fungi that cause indigestion
and other digestion related problems such as irritable bowel syndrome.
The fat in coconut oil also aids in the absorption of vitamins, minerals
and amino acids, making you healthier all around.
25. Fitness - coconut oil has been proven to stimulate your metabolism,
improve thyroid function, and escalate energy levels, all of which help
decrease your unwanted fat, while increasing muscle.
26. Nose bleeds - coconut oil can prevent nose bleeding that is
caused by sensitivity to weather such as extreme hotness and extreme
coldness. This condition happens when the nasal passages become dry
because of cold or dry air resulting to burns and cracks in the mucus
membranes so bleeding happens. To prevent this just put coconut oil in
you nostrils. Coat your finger with coconut oil and then lie down and coat
your finger inside your nose. Doing this will strengthen and protect the
capillaries in the nasal passages. A Vitamin C supplement will also help
prevent nose bleeding.
27. For breastfeeding moms, consuming 3 tablespoons of coconut oil
daily will enrich your milk supply.
28. Helps with weight loss & controlling cravings.
29. Helps keep blood sugar levels stable and/or helps with cravings in
those with diabetes.

sauting, etc.
71. Nutritional supplement melt and add to smoothies.
Other Uses
72. Insect repellent mix coconut oil with peppermint oil extract and rub
it all over exposed skin. Keeps insects off better than anything with Deet!
Tons safer too.
73. Great for dogs and cats for general wellness. Just add a teaspoon to
their water bowl daily.
74. Goo Gone - just mix equal parts coconut oil and baking soda into a
paste. Apply to the sticky area and let it set for a minute. Then scrub off
with an old toothbrush or the scrubby side of a sponge.
75. Chewing Gum in Hair Remover just rub some coconut oil over the
stuck chewing gum, leave in for about 30 minutes, then roll the gum
between your fingertip. Voila! Its out!
76. Polish Furniture - coconut oil with a little bit of lemon juice to polish
wood furniture. However, I recommend you test it first on a very small,
unobtrusive part of your furniture to make sure it works the way youd like.
77. Polishing Bronze - all you have to do is rub a little oil into a cotton
towel and then wipe down the statue. It cleans and helps deepen the
color of your bronze.
78. Seasoning animal hide drums.
79. Seasoning cookware.
80. Moisturizing and cleaning leather products.

SUPER SIMPLE STEAK FETTUCINI ALFREDO

for VALENTINE LOVERS
1 Bottle of Prepared Fettuccini Alfredo Sauce
1 Package of Fettuccini Noodles or Standard Egg
Noodles; your choice
1 Extra Large Flank Steak or 1 Large Filet Mignon
1/2 Stick of Real Butter
1 Tbls. of Parsley
1/4 tsp. of Nutmeg
Take your flank steak or (1) large Filet Mignon and
grill it on an indoor grill pan if you have it. You can pan-fry
it in a cast iron skillet also on medium. Keep and eye on it
though as you dont want to ruin an expensive cut of meat
like Filet Mignon. If your local grocery doesnt carry Flank
Steak, which is a very inexpensive, but very flavorful (with
very little fat), then ask them if theyll cut it for you. If you ask
the Butcher at any grocery they will almost always try to
please their customer. I always marinate my steak w/ salt &
pepper, each side, then mustard rubbed into it, then Worcestershire sauce on top. Do both sides and let sit for at
least 1/2 hour to get the flavor in. Do not pierce your meat
as that releases precious juices when cooking. After youve
cooked your steak, place on a plate and just let it rest for a
solid 10 minutes to allow the juices to draw back into it, then
if its Flank Steak, slice it against the grain (if unsure, look
online and see how this is done). But if you just look close as
to how the lines are running on the steak, turn the steak and
slice the opposite of how the lines are running. If slicing your
Filet Mignon, slice extremely thin slices, slice thinly on Flank
Steak also. Once sliced, just set aside. Pour your bottle of
Alfredo sauce into a medium saucepan and just let it simmer
on medium-low. Add your dash of Nutmeg. Get your water for
pasta boiling. Be sure and salt pasta water generously. When
pasta is cooked to your likeness, drain and put in a big pasta
bowl along with 1/2 stick of butter and Tablespoon of Parsley.
Mix well. Now add your Alfredo sauce and mix well. Add the
steak slices last and just blend gently. Sprinkle your fave Italian cheese on top for extra taste. Pour the wine, toast each
other and enjoy with hot, crusty bread and butter. Devine!

SO EASY STUFFED MUSHROOMS

10 Larger Sized White Mushroom Caps; just pull out the
stem for filling
1 Can of Premium, Pure White Crab Meat or Fresh
from your Deli if they have it
1 Group of Scallions
1 Cup of Real Mayonnaise
2 Tbls. of Lime Juice
Salt & Pepper to Taste
1/2 Cup of Shredded Swiss Cheese
In a small glass bowl place in your clean, white
crab meat. Mince about 3 stalks (whitish green part only)
of your scallions. Mince them fine. Salt & Pepper to Taste.
Add Lime Juice. Add your Mayonnaise and blend gently.
Crab is such a delicate meat, you really dont want to
overpower the taste of it. Now many people stuff their raw
shrooms, add the filling and bake. This, to me, produces
a rubbery tasting mushroom. I always saute mine in quality
margarine first to get them golden brown. Turn upside down
on a paper towel to drain thoroughly. Preheat oven to 350
degrees. Now, take a cap and spoon a generous amount
of filling into it. Finish them all and place on a flat oven pan
lined with aluminum foil for easy clean-up. Cook for apprx. 15 minutes as youre really only heating up crab mix.
Remove from oven and sprinkle Swiss shredded cheese
generously all over the top and place back in oven for
just a minute to melt cheese completely. These are totally
scrumptious!
MOUTH WATERING RED VELVET CUPCAKES with
CREAM CHEESE & BUTTER CREAM FROSTING
Someday Ill give you the homemade long version, but
youre going to be so busy getting in your sexy lingerie, lets
keep it REALLY SIMPLE!
1 Box of Red Velvet Cake; prepare per directions
Prepare cupcake tins & bake as directed. Take
1 Tub of Cream Cheese Frosting and 1 Tub of
Butter Cream Frosting. Mix together thoroughly.
Pile that frosting up high on those cooled cupcakes. Pour
some Asti-Spumonti or Champagne, put on slow, sexy music and make his/her night. Whew! Gettin Hot Up In Here.

February

The greatest act of love involves sacrifice. In the Bible Jesus tells
us in John 15, Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his
life for his friends. And that is exactly what He did for us. Not only did
Jesus die for his friends, He also died for his enemies and everyone
else. All of us have messed up at some time or another, and there
is nothing that we can do to earn Gods love, but we dont have to.
Jesus took matters into his own hands and provided a means for us to
experience the love that God has for us. And He did it out of love for
us. All we have to do is trust in Him. And then we too can get out there
and share that love with the world around us.

Its February and I feel spring approaching just around the corner.

5 Undeniable Facts
1. We all love to spend money buying new clothes but we never
realize that the best moments in life are enjoyed without clothes.
2. Having a cold drink on hot day with a few friends is nice, but having a hot friend on a cold night after a few drinks Priceless!
3. Breaking News: Condoms dont guarantee safe sex anymore.
A friend of mine was wearing one when he was shot dead by the
womans husband.
4. Arguing over a girls bust size is like choosing between Molson,
Heineken, Carlsberg, & Budweiser. Men may state their preferences,
but will grab whatever is available.
5. I havent verified this on Snopes, but it sounds legit. A recent
study found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer
than the men who mention it.
A young New York woman was so depressed that one night she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the ocean. Just before
she could leap from the docks, a handsome young man stopped
her. You have so much to live for, said the man. Im a sailor, and
we leave for Italy tomorrow. I can stow you away on my ship. Ill
take care of you, bring you food every day, and keep you happy.
With nothing to lose, and having always wanted to go to Italy, the
young woman accepted. From then on, every night he would bring
her sandwiches and a bottle of red wine and he would make love to
her for hours.
A week later, the captain discovered her during a routine inspection. What are you doing here? he asked.
I have an arrangement with one of the sailors, she replied. He
brings me food and I get a free trip to Italy .
I see, said the captain.
Her conscience got the better of her and she added, Plus, hes
screwing me.
He certainly is, replied the captain. This is the Staten Island
Ferry.

An attorney arrived home late, after a very tough day trying to get a
stay of execution. His last minute plea for clemency to the governor
had failed and he was feeling worn out and depressed...
As soon as he walked through the door at home, his wife started on
him about, What time of night to be getting home is this? Where
have you been? Dinner is cold and Im not reheating it.
And on and on and on. Too shattered to play his usual role in this
familiar ritual, he poured himself a shot of whiskey and headed
off for a long hot soak in the bathtub, pursued by the predictable
sarcastic remarks as he dragged himself up the stairs. While he
was in the bath, the phone rang. The wife answered and was told
that her husbands client, James Wright, had been granted a stay of
execution after all. Wright would not be hanged tonight.
Finally realizing what a terrible day he must have had and feeling
bad for nagging on him the second he came through the door, she
decided to go upstairs and give him the good news.
As she opened the bathroom door, she was greeted by the sight of
her husband, bent over naked, drying his legs and feet.
Theyre not hanging Wright tonight, she said.
He whirled around and screamed at his wife;
For the love of God woman, dont you ever stop complaining!?
During her physical examination, a doctor asked a middle-aged
woman about her physical activity level.
The woman said she spent 3 days a week, every week in the outdoors. Doc asked her to elaborate.
Well, yesterday afternoon was typical; I took a five hour walk about
7 miles through some pretty rough terrain. I waded along the edge
of a lake.I pushed my way through 2 miles of brambles. I got sand
in my shoes and my eyes. I barely avoided stepping on a snake. I
climbed several rocky hills. I went to the bathroom behind some big
trees. I ran away from an irate mother bear and then ran away from
one angry Bull Elk. The mental stress of it all left me shattered. At
the end of it all I drank a scotch and three glasses of wine. Amazed
by the story, the doctor said, You must be one hell of an outdoor
woman! No, the woman replied, Im just a really, really lame-ass
golfer.

Biker after a bad crash! It was late in the night when he regained
consciousness. He found himself in agonizing pain in the hospitals
ICU, with tubes up his nose, wires monitoring every function and
a gorgeous nurse hovering over him. In only a few moments, he

February 2015 is the Road Scribes Of America third year Anniversary! Thank
you to all our Publishers, Fans, and Supporters for this incredible Literary Journey!
Founder ~MarySusan Williams-Migneault, Co-Founder ~Eddie Sorez
Biker Poetry is more --than images on a page,
more powerful than
Spoken Word - Slam
Rant - or - Rap

THE WELL WORN VEST

She never watched him leave

Or stood between the door
She just handed him his leather
And turned to look away..
She would listen from the kitchen
As he did his ritual jump
once, twice .. then the engine kicked
caught its gear - ra rarrr vrum rum
the good-bye blast would roar
lasting till the road turned
heading him out of town
She never thought
too long or hard
bout where he went
or if --or when -he'd head back home to her
Instead she stayed tuned in
for the sounds no one else
could ever hear a kind of psychic
radio-scanner ear
listening for her man....
Knowing he was riding
somewhere out there
maybe in the rain --but always she knew
in her heart of hearts
he'd ride out any storms
or sun that maybe came.
And yes her soul
was tied to his
and so she also knew
no matter what might come his way
his road would never end,
his steed and him
would always ride
forever in the wind.

Old man ...

Your vest is well worn It has seen better days,
Like when it hung beside your bike
Biker Poetry is --In the middle of the livingroom
The leather still strong and street black. the gravel in your pores
the bugs up your nose
the rain scraping your skin
Old man..
as it whizzes across your face
Your steed has carried you far
Through wind and rain
Biker Poetry is --And narrow pass roads
the sun setting
Hidden in winter's whiteouts
while the engine cools
Or clicking and cranking down
and you sit staring out
While you both rested
the Roadside Diner window
In summer campgrounds
admiring your Steel pony
Beside rivers and hills
breaking bread
A day's journey up ahead...
with your biker
brothers and sisters
Old man...
Your memories are packed
Biker Poetry is --In saddle bags and photos
standing on the edge
Of bike runs to Vermont,
throttle open
New Hampshire and Maine,
engine firing
While the horizon of Connecticut
rat-a-tat-tat
Held you steady with traces
pulsing through your blood
Of your Yankee family ties
fire-breathing straight pipes
And roads that brought you back
blasting towards the horizon
Again and again.
forever stretched before you
Old man...
Biker Poetry is --Your life has twisted into knots
the Spirit of a soul
So much lost, never to be replaced
chasing after the wind
A mean streak fills in the spaces
listening for the Road
Left by roads that just led nowhere
Rusting your chrome and stripping love ............. to call them HOME
From your heart like a thief in the night
