Rights Development Ms Khadija Mohamed Dirie, It is illegal,
inhumane and a human rights violation to cut of parts of any
girls body. That is why the Government formed the Ministry
of Women and Human Rights Development, which is
mandated to prevent and respond to violations of womens
rights and as such, we have partnered here today to do that
jointly with the Ministry of Health, UN Agencies like UNFPA
and UNICEF and civil society organizations.

maternal health Advisor Dr. Achu Lordfred Nde, Change is
coming from within communities, breaking the silence and
dispelling the myths around Female Genital Mutilation are
the first steps along the way to eliminating it all together.
On this International Day, I call upon all people and partners
to end Female Genital Mutilation and create the future we
want where every girl can grow up free of violence and
discrimination with full dignity, human rights and equality.

Network organization Abdinasir Ismail, We as Somali men
from Banadir region have taken the responsibility to end
violations against women and have agreed to continue
sensitizing the community against violating womens rights.
Today, we took part in this campaign and we will continue to
take part in such campaigns until we eradicate FGM in our
country.
