TITLE Water and Solution

AIM To prepare a dilute solution, a concentrated solution a saturated solution
MATERIALS Table salt in powder form, Water

APPARATUS 50ml beaker, spatula, glass rod, beam balance

PROCEDURE i- Add 10g of table salt to 25ml of water and stir with a glass rod
ii- Repeat step 1 by adding 30g and 50g of table salt to the water.
iii- Record your observation in the table below.
OBSERVATION
E1C7 (a)
AND RESULT
Mass of salt (g) The solution produced
10 Dilute solution
30 Concentrated solution
50 Saturated solution
E1C8 (a)

1
DISCUSSION 1. What is the content of solute in a

AND a- dilute solution A little

b-concentrated solution A lot
ANALYSIS
c-saturated solution Maximum
2. Suggest the test of the saturated solution if you were to taste it
with your tongue
Very salty

3. Why it is that the same amount of solute can dissolves faster in

50ml of water than 25ml of water?
Because the bigger the volume of the solvent , the faster the
solute dissolves in water E1C7 (c)

4. State the relationship between the mass of solute and the solution
E1C7 (d)
produced
If the solute increase, the solubility of salt will increase
If the solute decrease, the solubility of salt will decrease

5. State another factor that affect the solubility of salts

a. Size of solute particles E1C8 (b)
b. Rate of stirring the solvent
c. Temperature of the solvent

6. Predict what happen to the salt solution when we add

a. 5g : Dilute solution E1C8 (c)
b. 70g: Saturated solution

6. Define dilute solution, a concentrated solution a saturated solution

operationally E1C8 (d)
i- Dilute solution contains a little solute
ii- Concentrated solution contains a lot of solute.
iii- Saturated solution contains the maximum amount of
solute.
CONCLUSION Different mass of salts have different solubility in a solvent.
