through God's grace, has encouraged me. I thank
God for your wisdom and insight. The Lord knew
that I needed a wife and friend like you. I love
you and will always thank God for you standing
by me.

Introduction

his book is for anyone who will be used in

the prophetic and the office of a prophet
especially the wounded and upcoming
prophets. This book is to challenge your
faith and calling.
God has lead me to write this book as simple
and plain as I can. I pray that your eyes will be
opened as you read this book. God wants to
develop your character, faith and Christian walk
in Him. There is a hunger for a supernatural
move of God, but there is a real need and hunger
for the word and the power.
I dare you to read this book if God called you
to be in a five-fold ministry. This day you have
cried to the Lord for some answers and I pray that
through this book, He will bless you and give you
some answers to your questions.
This book will bless many and anger many,
but no matter which way it affects you, praise
God!! It will touch a nerve. It's to build up those
that are lowly and humble and to cast down those
who are puffed up in pride.

woe be unto the prophets

Don't be afraid of who you are and what you

are becoming, but be afraid if you never become
what God called you to be. You must fight to read
this book. Get ready for your blessing because
you have won already when you picked this book
up.
May God bless you as you read this book.
STOP!! PRAY!! MY PRAYER FOR YOU IS
THIS: LORD, I PRAY THAT WHOEVER READS
THIS BOOK WILL MOVE INTO THE NEXT
LEVEL OF THE ANOINTING AND THAT
PROSPERITY
AND
BLESSINGS
WILL
OVERTAKE THEM IN JESUS CHRIST'S MIGHTY
NAME. AMEN.

chapter one
1

about prophets

here is a lot that the church does not know

about prophets other than the history
recorded in the Old Testament. The New
Testament brings in a new dispensation
concerning prophets. Dealing with the church,
most people think that we do not need prophets,
we have the word. But, if that were the case, God
would not have set prophets in the church.
And God hath set some in the church, first
apostles, secondarily prophets.
(I Corinthians 12:28)

So, to say there are no prophets is to say that

God is a liar; However, God cannot lie. If you
don't believe there are prophets, then you have
missed the revelation of Christ. Any time you take
truth from the Scripture and try to pervert or
misuse it, you take away from what God says and
9

woe be unto the prophets

you say what you think.

Elijah (My God is Jehovah) thought he was
the only prophet left in his time. He felt that there
were no more prophets. We need to understand
from his experience what God said.
Yet have I left me seven thousand in Israel,
all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal,
and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
(I Kings 19:18)

Among the apostlesones sent, sent forth

there were apostles who were prophets
themselves. An apostle is one sent. Being an
apostle is not just about building churches, but
building up the body of Christ.
And he gave some, apostles; and some,
prophets; and some, evangelists; and some,
pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the
saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ; Till we all come in
the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the
Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the
measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

(Ephesians 4:11-13)
Prophets are sent forth by God's word. To say
10

about prophets

that there are no prophets is to take away from

the word of God. I Corinthians 12 talks about the
fivefold ministries and the gift of prophecy,
discerning of spirits, word of knowledge,
wisdom, etc. To say prophets are only to operate
in these gifts is not true. Paul was an apostle, but
he was also called to evangelize.
It is true that you can have more than one
office. If you are in an office, the Holy Spirit can
release unto you the ability and power (dunamis)
to carry out any function. So, to say that prophets
are limited to those gifts is to say that apostles are
only limited to building churches.
Let's judge according to the word of God and
not according to what we hear people say.
Prophets hurt just like all saints, but there are
different levels of warfare. Prophets must abide in
the Holy Spirit and The Word of God. Otherwise,
they will lose their focus!
To understand prophets, you don't have to be
in the office of a prophet. Spend time with them
and the mantle of the prophets may rub off on
you. Get an understanding of the prophets
because what we may not know can hurt us.

11

woe be unto the prophets

My people are destroyed for lack of

knowledge: because thou hast rejected
knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt
be no priest to me: seeing thou has forgotten the
law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
(Hosea 4:6)

12

chapter two
2

the make-up of a
prophet

ere we need to deal with certain attributes

of prophets. The prophets formed a
network system throughout the Bible
concerning the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
From Genesis to Revelations, they agree on a
coming Savior.
And I will put enmity between thee and the
woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it
shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his
heel.
(Genesis 3:15)

The word wasn't just unto the serpent; God

was speaking to satan (in the serpent). The
makeup of a prophet starts with the word of God
before your birtheven coming through the
womb; even as others are chosen before the
13

woe be unto the prophets

foundation of the world. This calling is in the

spirit before it's in the natural.
The words "make" and "form" have two main
points. The Hebrew word for "make" is bara,
which means to create; fashion (as a formative
process). The word "form" in Hebrew is yatsarto
mold and to form; to determine for; earthen
fashion. The best example is Jeremiah, whose
name has great significance. It means whom God
has appointed.
Then the word of the LORD came unto me,
saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew
thee; and before Thou camest forth out of the
womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a
prophet unto the nations.
(Jeremiah 1:4,5)

It is important to see that God was sharing

with Jeremiah that He had chosen him and that
his life wasn't destined by himself. God ordered
his steps. So, that's why we need to ask God to
direct us.
The Lord made us and we are the works of
His hands. See Jeremiah 18:1-6 and Romans
9:20,21. Jeremiah had an appointment and it was
14

the make-up of a prophet

to do the will of God. When he tried to stop, he

couldn't.
Then I said I will not make mention of Him,
nor speak any more in His name. But His word
was in mine heart as burning fire shut up in my
bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I
could not stay.
(Jeremiah 20:9)

It is so important to know that if God has a

plan for you to do His will, You will! When God
makes you, He knows what can break you. So, it
is not wise to think that you can get around His
will. He is the potter and we are the clay.
In my walk with Christ, I find many trying to
walk out of the office and calling of being a
prophet. Once, I did it too, and it hurts more not
doing the will of God than doing it. So, if you are
talking about quitting, you're in for a surprise.
Yes, God allows you to choose. And, there are
circumstances that will help you choose Him and
say, "Yes Lord to your will and to your way".
Here are some make-ups of some prophets: God
separates them from people and draws them into
His presence. That doesn't mean that he separates
15

woe be unto the prophets

you from your church. It means separation from

anything that will influence you wrongly or will
try to draw you away from His will, His calling
and His word. Warfare may increase in this stage.

16

chapter three
3

true prophets

t is so important to know that there are true

prophets out here. Not everyone is a prophet.
God has released His anointing for such a time
as now. And, it is to deal with these false and
perverse prophets.
True prophets are pioneers in the hall of faith.
Read Hebrews 11. Sometimes, we look at
prophets as a threat. But, a true prophet is only a
threat to satan and sin. So many fear true
prophets because they fear that their sins will be
revealed. Yes, that is true. But, a prophet can't just
judge your sin only; they can speak to you about
the sin that you may be trapped in to help deliver
your soul from the enemy.
Many people ask, "Where are the true
prophets?" They are here. Most prophets may
speak about your past conditions to share with
17

woe be unto the prophets

you where God brought you from, but if it

wounds you or causes embarrassment, it brings
rebuke to that prophet.
True prophets must be instructed by God
before they go digging into your past. That is
unless it is for correction and for healing by the
Spirit of God. True prophets speak and live the
word of God and they bear fruit from it.

18

chapter four
4

the hand

ach prophet must humble himself and stay

under the mighty hand of God. If they are
not lead by the Holy Spirit, satan will
seduce that prophet. There are five stages
which prophets may go through. As you read this
book, you will see a few.
There are some depths that we may go into. A
true prophet is one that speaks the word; above
all, they try to live it. There is so much that can be
written about true prophets, but there's a lot that
we should know about false prophets. Woe be
unto the prophets.
As we deal with the hand of God, we will see
how it affected the lives of the prophets. The
prophets operated as God's voice and hands.
They delivered the word that was written upon
their hearts as the Lord revealed mysteries to
19

woe be unto the prophets

them. These were men whose lives were affected

by the hand of God. Here is an example of how
God affected some prophet's lives.
ad amthe f ir st m an
And the Lord God formed man out of the
dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
(Genesis 2:7)

God took time to make Adam and He formed

a body for man to live in with His hand. That's
why I love what David said in the Psalm:
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works;
and that my soul knoweth right well.
(Psalm 139:14)

As we see in stage one, God takes a nobody

and makes them a somebody. The Lord starts to
mold you when He breaths into you His will and
His purpose for your life.

The magicians of Egypt realized that they
20

the hand

were not fighting with Moses, but with God.

And the magicians did so with their
enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could
not: so there were lice upon man, and upon
beast. Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh,
This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart
was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them;
as the LORD had said.
(Exodus 8:18,19)

When God calls you, His hand is upon your

life. But those that rise up against you will not be
able to stand if they are trying to change God's
will for your life. If God wants you to go forward,
you will. God gave Moses the Ten
Commandments and the Lord wrote them with
his finger.
And he gave unto Moses, when he had an
end of communing with him upon mount Sinai,
two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written
with the finger of God.
(Exodus 31:18)
AND the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee
two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will
write upon these tables the words that were in

21

woe be unto the prophets

the first tables, which thou brakest.

(Exodus 34:1)

As you learn more about the hand of God

upon your life, you will feel God writing upon the
table of your heart. He will write His Law, His
love, and His will for you. And, others will see it.

And it came to pass at the seventh time, that
he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of
the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up,
say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee
down, that the rain stop thee not. And it came to
pass in the mean while, that the heaven was
black with clouds and wind, and there was a
great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.
(I Kings 18: 44,45)
Elias was a man subject to like passions as
we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not
rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space
of three years and six months. And he prayed
again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth
brought forth her fruit.
(James 5:17,18)

22

God was faithful to Elijah. When Elijah

prayed that it wouldn't rain, it didn't. I present
this example to show you that you can have
whatsoever you say. Believe it and you shall
Receive it.
Elijah had his struggles, but God blessed him.
And, I believe that all who have a divine
commission from God must believe all the
promises of God, even when doubt arises. Elijah
prayed for rain and on the seventh time, a cloud
appeared. Don't quit praying, God will bless you.
d anielmy g od i s ju dgment
Then they brought the golden vessels that
were taken out of the temple of the house of God
which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his
princes, his wives, and his concubines, might
drank in them. They drank wine, and praised the
gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of
wood, and of stone. In the same hour came forth
fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against
the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the
king's palace: and the king saw the part of the
hand that wrote. Then the king's countenance
was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so
that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his
23

woe be unto the prophets

knees smote one against another.

(Daniel 5:3-6)

We must be careful how we handle God's

vessels, they are Holy.
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
(I Corinthians 3:16)
What? Know ye not that your body is the
temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which
ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
(I Corinthians 6:19)

I believe at this point that God will show you

mysteries and reveal to you things that others
may not be able to understand. When God wrote
on the wall, no one could interpret it but Daniel.
I believe that most prophets, who yield their
lives over to the Lord will receive certain
revelation knowledge from out of the word of
God. When we look at the judgment of King Belshazzar, it was the word that God wrote on the
wall; that judged him. His name (Bel-shazzar)
means may Bel protect the King.
In the same hour came forth fingers of a
24

the hand

man's hand, and wrote over against the

candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the
king's palace: and the king saw the part of the
hand that wrote.
(Daniel 5:5)

Certain things are delayed until interpreted,

you must always pray for understanding. The
Lord will lead you and help you understand.
jes us c hri stjehovah sa ves
As the one Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is
and always will be the complete fulfillment of
God's perfect and divine will. He is the Word of
God made flesh.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt
among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as
of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace
and truth.
(John 1:14)

He is the perfect example, the sinless Son of

God. In this part of your development, you are
going to deal with people who will be offended
by you. They don't know about the supernatural
and they will speak against you because of envy. I
25

woe be unto the prophets

hope that you will understand that when you

decide to follow Christ, you must remember you
will be persecuted. Jesus Christ is the hand of God
and we as living epistles are read of all men.
Ye are our epistle written in our hearts,
known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are
manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ
ministered by us, written not with ink, but with
the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of
stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

(II Corinthians 3:2,3)

As you can see, everything stops with Jesus
because He was the Last Man, Adam. Jesus is on
and at the right hand of the Father.

26

chapter five
5

the call

ost prophets try to resist the calling of

God to their office or position because
they are unlearned and afraid of what
people will think. They may feel the
inspiration of the Holy Spirit to open their mouth
during praise and worship. However, not
understanding the bubbling down inside, they
will try to restrain themselves from speaking.
But, they can't hold it because of the powerful
sensation to speak and the desire to open their
mouth. They can't resist it because out of them
flows rivers of living waters as the Spirit speaks.
They are under the unction of the Spirit when
they speak. They sometimes don't remember what
they said because the Spirit has spoken.
This stage of separation causes them to think
that people will judge them. Yes, the majority of
27

woe be unto the prophets

people do judge according to the flesh. So, when

you began to separate yourself from people and
long for a deeper relationship with God, it's the
calling of God causing you to separate yourself, to
be filled with His presence.
Through desire a man, having separated
himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all
wisdom.
(Proverbs 18:1)

If you are feeling this pressure in your spirit,

get on your knees and pray. Fast and read your
Bible. Humble yourself to your leaders. Ask God
for directions and depend upon the counsel of the
Holy Spirit.
Also, in this stage of pressure, God is shaping
the prophets to depend upon His word. The
pressure that comes upon the called is the
pressure of duty; and they don't know what to do.
They struggle in their flesh because most new
prophets have to deal with their emotions.

28

chapter six
6

the run from the

call

ow it may seem strange, but it's not.

Almost every prophet tries to run from
their call as a prophet. After spending
days with the Lord and walking in His
word, the enemy brings in the fear of rejection.
This is stage two.
The demon of rejection comes in and says,
"They don't like you around them". Yes, this also
may be true. That's why it is wise to stay in the
company of other prophets. Now, these demons
will try to cause you to run from the work of God.
You may feel that you don't want to do it because
the spirit of discouragement now oppresses you.
These stages of attack come to cause you to
run from God. Now hear this very well you
prophets and prophetess reading this book: You
29

woe be unto the prophets

can't run!!
Look at the diagram which appears on the
next page:
As you can see, you are running around in a
circle back to the hand of God. You can't run from
your own destiny because you are in the center of
it.

There is a prophet that we all can relate to; his

name is Jonah. If you read the book of Jonah you
will see that he thought he could run from the
purpose of God. He had to go to a city called
Nineveh. As you can see, we can run left to right,
but it's still back to the hand of God. Let's stay in
the race that God called us into.

30

chapter seven
7

young prophets

here are so many people claiming to be

prophets because they prophesy. It's sad
to hear people, who may have had a
dream or vision, say they are prophets.
The office of a prophet doesn't just revolve
around dreams and visions. A prophet is called to
be a steward of the word of God and to live in the
Spirit under the counsel of God. So, it is not wise
to say that everyone is a prophet.
FOLLOW after charity, and desire spiritual
gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
(I Corinthians 14:1)

It's also not wise to think that because we

edify, it makes us able to say that we are true
prophets. Paul says, "Follow after love and desire
spiritual gifts". He did not say seek a spiritual
office, but desire the gifts of the Spirit.
31

woe be unto the prophets

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I

would not have you ignorant.
(I Corinthians 12:1)

There is a difference between the gifts and the

offices. We do not make these offices that God
sets us in. Our gifts will make room for us
(Proverbs 18:16). Concerning the perfect will of
God, too many people think that because they
speak a wordand it comes to passthey are
prophets.
There are words of knowledge, wisdom and
divine utterance gifts. We can't be a novice (a
beginner) in the things of God and think we have
it. Everyone must make full proof of their
ministry (1 Timothy 4:5).
With regard to lying prophets, they are the
opposite of true prophets. The difference is not
necessarily in the gifts, but in their nature and
character. They have these gifts and think they
own them.
So, the difference in these prophets is that one
group says, "It comes from God." They exalt the
creator and giver of these gifts. Instead of serving
the gifts, they serve the God that has blessed
32

young prophets

them.
The other group of prophets does the
opposite. These false prophets exalt the gifts and
not the giver. The gifts of God are without
repentance and they are given to you for the
edifying of His church.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is
from above, and cometh down from the Father of
lights, with whom is no variableness, neither
shadow of turning.
(James 1:17)

Let's keep our eyes set toward God and desire

spiritual gifts. But, don't worship the gifts, only
the giver. It's important to understand that King
Saul looked at his position, the people and
himself. Let's keep our minds stayed on the Lord.
Where your heart is, there will your treasure
be also. If God called you to an office, He will seal
you and confirm it by His word and His
anointing.

33

chapter eight
8

the young prophet's

testimony

find it rewarding to write about the young

prophets who the Lord is calling by His grace.
It is important to see the power of God
operating in these young, gifted believers as
they grow in the wisdom of God and His counsel.
They
will
experience
the
supernatural
manifestation of God's presence in their lives.
Young prophets are immature in their gifts.
And, it's easy for satan to deceive them without
the right guidance in their lives. The right
teaching is important. They need to learn how to
hear the voice of God in their inner man and
rebuke the voice of satan, trying to attack their
minds. They must be taught the difference
between the spiritual mind and the natural mind.
Most people associate the call to the office of a
35

woe be unto the prophets

prophet with the gift of prophecy instead of the

office itself. Why do so many people call
themselves prophets? It is because they feel that
once they speak a word and it comes to pass, it is
confirmed and that makes them prophets. That's
why it is our duty, as prophets who walk in this
office, to teach them the difference between the
two. Yes, prophets prophesy in the church, but
their gifts differ, especially in the spirit realm.
Early in my life, some strange things
happened to me. Almost everything I would say
happened most of the time. Furthermore, it was
accompanied by a vision or a word. My family
members were not Christians.
It got so bad in my life that even more strange
things started happening. I would try to tell
people what I saw or dreamed, but they thought I
was crazy. But, not as much as I did.
That's when it happened. We bought a VCR
and rented horror movies. For a young person to
be exposed to something like that in my family
was not strange.
One day, I was watching TV and a picture
came on about the creation in the book of Genesis.

36

the young prophet's testimony

It drew me to the Bible, but I didn't realize

something else was trying to draw me too. After
the movie went off, I went and prayed. I found a
Bible and started to read.
The last book I remember reading before the
torment began was Isaiah. That's when they came,
I didn't believe in demons, but they are real. I was
always tormented when I read my Bible.
No one understood what was going on. My
dreams and visions began to increase. Now, you
may be reading this and don't believe it. That's
fine because I didn't believe it when it was
happening to me. It seemed that ungodly material
was coming from everywhere to me.
At the age of eighteen, I was ironing my
mother's clothes and I had a vision. This time, I
was in front of a group of people. They had on
black clothes with their heads bowed down. They
were chanting and it was gloomy and dusty.
I was shown another vision at the same time,
it was of a group of people shouting and praising
God and laughing. In each vision, I was in front
leading the people. Then, a voice said to me,
choose which road.

37

woe be unto the prophets

Now as you can see, the Lord led me by His

grace, but this battle was not an easy one. I had to
learn to suffer for Christ. Then I was delivered
and the torment stopped. I wasn't going to use my
personal experiences as examples, but I believe
that someone needs to hear this.
Even after I came to Christ, there was still a
struggle. But, God has given me the victory. The
Lord shared with me later that the things that I
went through were to help others. But, I didn't go
through it alone.
My wife stood beside me and rebuke was
continued in our house. If I would have had
someone to teach me then, I believe that the
warfare wouldn't have been so great. Now in my
deliverance, it took time for me to be delivered
from the spirit of fear, death, rejection and
intimidation.
As a prophet being called by God, the devil
was trying to stop that which God was doing. But
these Scriptures, Romans 8:28,31,33, are true.
Whatever God has allowed in your life, give Him
praise. It's for His glory. He said, "Resist the devil
and he will flee from you".

38

the young prophet's testimony

Submit yourselves therefore to God, Resist

the devil, and he will flee from you.
(James 4:7)

Young prophets find themselves in spiritual

warfare and don't understand what's going on.
Satan's main attack is to make prophets feel
rejected and alone like outcasts. But, the truth is
we are not alone.
There are many prophets that need to come
forth but the devil tries to use the fear of rejection
to hinder them. He wants you to compromise the
word and your calling. I find something else just
as undermining as satan. That something is an old
bitter prophet.
He knows God has called you, but wants to
use the gift that God has given you to try to
prostitute you and to pervert you. They will try to
draw false prophecies out of you. They will
misuse you and the zeal that you have for God.
Then, they will have you operating out of your
human spirit and not the Holy Spirit.
There was an old prophet that caused the
downfall of a young prophet and took advantage
of his lack of experience. This is what I call a bitter
39

woe be unto the prophets

prophet. He is one who the Lord did not call to do

a task but will stop you from completing your
destiny.
Now, some prophets are so quick to think
they've got it instead of waiting on the Lord and
they jump too fast. This race is not for the quick
but for him that endureth. If you have someone
who thinks all they need is their gift, don't fight
with them. When they find that it's not about
prophecy, but about love, they will receive the
revelation.
I hope that this has given you some insight on
young prophets. Most have been torn and
wounded in the body of Christ and rejected by
their own peers. If you feel that you have been
called into the office of a prophet, you need to
seek God. Go to your pastor, if he is a man of God
that believes in prophets. If not, you should pray
for him and ask God for some direction.
If your leader doesn't believe in the office that
God has given you, go to the word of God and
find out what else in the Bible he doesn't believe
in. Then, find out what the Bible says about those
that don't believe. It's better to know the word of
God.

bitter prophets

e talked a little about bitter prophets in

the last chapter. The word "bitter"
comes from the Hebrew word marah
to be bitter (or unpleasant); to rebel or
resist, to provoke bitter, change, be disobedient,
disobey, grievously, provocation, rebellious,
against.
There are so many bitter prophets. There is
such a division in the body of Christ dealing with
up-coming prophets. Instead of the senior
prophets training the younger, the majority of the
time they destroy them because of the spirit of
envy. The Hebrew word for "envy" is qana, which
means to be zealous in a bad sense, jealous or
envious.
Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel;
and his sons came and told him all the works
41

woe be unto the prophets

that the man of God had done that day in Bethel:

the words which he had spoken unto the king,
them they told also to their father.
(I Kings 13:11)

There was a prophet in a city where God sent

another prophet to bring the word. The Lord
could have used this prophet, but He called for a
man of God from across the Jordan. Now the sons
of this old prophet heard what the prophet said to
King Jeroboam.
We can learn many things from God and how
He uses a generation. Each generation is used by
the Lord in different ways than the former. That's
why we can't expect each generation to always be
used the same way and have the same anointing.
There is a new anointing for each generation.
We can't expect this generation to function
like the last. The Spirit of the Lord doesn't change,
neither do His gifts. But, we do change.
That's why we must be careful, in the body of
Christ, not to allow hindrances from certain
teachers to stop the new move of the Spirit. We
must stay in the wave of the anointing so we don't
miss the next wave.

42

bitter prophets

It hurts to see great men and women of God

fall off because they miss the timing of God. Don't
hinder the next generation because of your past
failures or mistakes. We shouldn't destroy these
young prophets. Let's pray for them. If God told
them to do something and we see the power of
God working through them, do not tear them
down; build them up.
bitte r pr op hets
I often wondered why the Lord didn't send
that old prophet. The older prophet was hearing
from God, but he was testing the young prophet's
obedience. We could say that, but it's much more
than that.
God said don't stop to eat or drink, leave after
the service. But, the young prophet stopped.
When God tells you to do something, do it! Then,
satan won't have the opportunity to ambush you.
In reading, I Kings 13, you will find that many
people will try to keep you from fulfilling your
destiny in God. This old prophet knew the right
way. And, had he encouraged the young prophet,
it could have saved his life. If he had said, "Do as
the Lord said and leave this place", things may
43

woe be unto the prophets

have turned out differently. But, the old prophet

lied:
He said unto him, I am a prophet also as
thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the
word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with
thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and
drink water. But he lied unto him.
(I Kings 13:18)

This old, bitter prophet used his position and

lied to the man of God. Then, he used another
way to deceive him. He said, "the angel of the
Lord said...". Now he didn't say the Lord said, but
he lied and said the angel said.
The last thing the verse of Scripture said is
that the old prophet lied. Beware of whose table
you may be sitting at to eat. If God told you not to
go and the person said, "the angel said...", the
devil is a liar. Don't believe what an angel said.
But though we, or an angel from heaven,
preach any other gospel unto you than that
which we have preached unto you, let him be
accursed.
(Galatians 1:8)
BELOVED, believe not every spirit, but try
44

bitter prophets

the spirits whether they are of God; because

many false prophets are gone out into the world.
(I John 4:1)

Paul and John made it clear, don't let anything

pull you from the truth. We have to be careful of
what we allow to influence us. That's why we
need to be in a church where the word is being
taught.
So he went back with him, and did eat bread
in his house, and drink water.

(I Kings 13:19)
It's important to see what happened. This
young prophet disobeyed God because of the old
prophet. It's just like times now when an old saint
would say, "We don't believe in prophets." Or
"You can't think like that because God did away
with prophets a long time ago. So, just accept our
church rules".
It's sad that people believe that prophets are
no more. They say, "The only thing that prophets
do is confirm." That's a lie. Prophets do more than
that. So, when they say, "God gave me a
revelation, there are no more prophets,"
remember that satan is a liar and the father of it.
45

woe be unto the prophets

bitte r pr op hets
And it came to pass, as they sat at the table,
that the word of the Lord came unto the prophet
that brought him back; And he cried unto the
man of God that came from Judah, saying, thus
said the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast
disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not
kept the commandment which the LORD thy
God commanded thee, But camest back, and hast
eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the
which the LORD did say to thee, Eat no bread,
and drink no water; thy carcass shall not come
unto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
(I Kings 13:20-22)

The Lord brought judgment upon the young

prophet for disobeying him. And, he brought it
through the old prophet. Why didn't God judge
the old prophet? Because God didn't send him to
King Jeroboam. But, He sent the young prophet.
So, the young prophet died before his time.
Beware of bitter prophets!! You don't want to miss
out with God and die before your time.

46

chapter ten
10

to the prophetess

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is

neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor
female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
(Galatians 3:28)

ome will set gender on an office or calling.

It's a lie to say that women cannot lead the
people of God. Some would take
Scriptures out of context without studying
the history of them. God never said women
couldn't be used by Him.
Certain men will not agree with me because of
their lack of knowledge. Why do people resist the
counsel and wisdom of God? It's pride and
ambition. God doesn't see gender when you serve
Him from a pure heart. He sees your spirit.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a
new creature: old things are passed away; behold
47

woe be unto the prophets

all things are become new.

(II Corinthians 5:17)

Too many people mix gender up with

Heaven. God will not stop anyone who loves Him
from doing His will. He does not have a respect of
persons. He'll use "Bobby" or "Susie" if he or she is
willing to do His will. God will use who He
wants. And, we cannot contain Him to the mere
idea of a thought to justify why we do what we
do.
So many people are in bondage by the
doctrines of men. If you are a woman in the
ministry, God bless you. Continue because
Heaven is behind you. The religious spirit will
fight anything that disturbs its comfort zone.
Don't worry about what people think or feel when
you are doing what God has called you to do.
It's like a woman who works a job, making
fifteen dollars an hour, and her husband makes
six dollars. Yet, when they are home or out, he is
still her head. The occupation or success doesn't
make her greater then her husband. He is still her
head, even in the ministry. She can pastor and he
can assist. Or, he can pastor and she can assist.
She knows her place.
48

to the prophetess

Too many people are not being shepherds.

They are trying to be lords over God's heritage.
Prophetess, you need to learn about Mariam,
Deborah and Anna. You need to know that you
don't have to be afraid. Come forth in the name of
Jesus Christ.
Beware of false prophetesses who walk as
Jezebel to seduce and mislead you. I have dealt
with this firsthand. If you are reading this and
you are in a church and the Lord is feeding you
and the gifts flow, don't be seduced. Be watchful.
Don't follow a title. Follow only God's word and
anointing. Stay humble and God will exalt you.
Repeat this prayer: "Father God, in the name
of Jesus Christ, forgive me for speaking things
that you didn't say. I rebuke evil spirits, I will
walk in my call no matter what comes against me.
And, I will stand in your name. I am what you say
I am in your word. I will be what you called me to
be in your word. And, I am anointed. Thank you
Father, for healing me and hearing my prayer. In
Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen."

49

chapter eleven
11

the attack of evil

words

here is a spirit which comes to abort what

God is trying to develop in your mind by
causing envy, strife, gossip, and discord.
These are all negative word spirits. These
demons operate against prophets in the words of
those who speak against them.
Prophets stand as the voice of God in the
earth realm. The devils fight prophets because
they can discern them in the spirit. Prophets are
standing against these evil spirits that try to attack
their souls. When prophets, who are beginning to
walk in the word, speak God's word, the devil
will fight them. These spirits operate in the words
of people who don't believe in prophets or who
just hate prophets.
This office of a prophet is covered by God and
51

woe be unto the prophets

governed by His Spirit. No matter how many

words may be spoken against you, speak God's
word; it will stand any attack. Speak the promises
of God in your life.
Most prophets don't reach their full potential
because of demonic, negative words that are
operating in their life. You have to quote the word
of God in the atmosphere. This is called the battle
of words. It will teach you about wise words and
foolish words. James 3 will teach you as well.
Prophets, guard your words as people speak evil
against your life. Prophesy victory in your own
life.
Death and life are in the power of the
tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit
there of.
(Proverbs 18:21)

Whatever you produce, that's what you will

eat. Whatever you sow, that's what you will reap.

52

chapter twelve
12

the crush of pride

ride is such a destructive tool that satan

uses against prophets who first start in
the word. And their knowledge tries to
puff them up.

Now as touching things offered unto idols,

we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge
puffeth up, but charity (love) edifieth. And if any
man think that he knoweth anything, he
knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
(I Corinthians 8:1,2)

Some prophets lose their focus and start to

place their eyes on themselves and forget God. In
this stage of growth, the enemy tries to bring in
false revelations to pervert the word. This is the
time when prophets have to rebuke themselves,
bring their flesh under control, exalt God and
study to be more humble.
53

woe be unto the prophets

As children, we have heard of "Puff The

Magic Dragon". Beware of the puff spirit. The
Hebrew word for "puffeth" is puwachto puff,
blow with, breath or air, to kindle a fire, to scoff,
break, puff, bring into a snare, speak, utter.
Your knowledge will set a snare to your spirit.
The Hebrew word for "snare"naquashmeans
to entrap with a noose, catch, lay a snare. All
prophets, hear this: pride is one of your greatest
enemies. So, enjoy the revelation knowledge that
God gives you in humility.

54

chapter thirteen

imagery prophets

Then said I, Ah, Lord God! Behold, the

prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the
sword, neither shall ye have famine, but I will
give you assured peace in this place. Then the
Lord said unto me, The prophets prophecy lies in
my name: I sent them not, neither have I
commanded them, neither spake I unto them:
they prophesy unto you a false vision and
divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit
of their heart. Therefore thus saith the Lord
concerning the prophets that prophesy in my
name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword
and famine shall not be in this land; By sword
and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
(Jeremiah 14:13-15)

55

woe be unto the prophets

t's not strange to go into a mall, ride down the

street, pick up a book or even the newspaper
and read about someone trying to tell you the
future.

This is a time when everyone wants to know

what tomorrow will bring because of fear. The
world is seeking after sign seekers, stargazers, but
not Jesus Christ.
They don't want the bright and morning star
to shine in their hearts. They are after satan, the
fallen cherub. People are not seeking for truth to
live right in the eyes of God. But, they seek to
please themselves by looking forward to psychics,
palm and leaf readers, crystal balls, charms or
madam-x.
It's true that everyone is trying to seek out
their own destiny through mediums. It's all about
money and promoting the kingdom of darkness!
Regard not them that have familiar spirits,
neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them:
I am the LORD your God.
(Leviticus 19:31)
And the soul that turneth after such as have
familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a
56

imagery prophets

whoring after them, I will even set my face

against that soul, and will cut him off from
among his people... A man also or woman that
hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall
surely be put to death: they shall stone them
with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
(Leviticus 20:6,27)

The word divination, puthon in the Greek

means "python" in English. This evil was taught
and practiced widely in the eastEgypt, Babylon,
and Mesopotamia. It spread into the medieval
times in Europe, as well as the present times.
Everyone attempts to find some super power,
whether human or demonic. It's sad, that people
think that they can control devils. When I see
those in the body of Christ seeking answers from
psychics, it is a sign that they don't know the
word. Many need to learn to depend upon the
Holy Spirit not other spirits.
It's a shame to see saints being controlled by
these demonic powers. And, though certain
manipulations, saints are being deceived by
devils. People today want a quick fix, they want a
fast answer for everythingwhether true or false.
They expect everyone to have a word from
57

woe be unto the prophets

the Lord and most of the time they run into

familiar spirits or soothsayers. "Soothsayer" in
Hebrew is qacamtodivine magic (divination).
The Hebrew word for "witchcraft" is kashaph,
which means to enchant.
I have heard what the prophets said, that
prophesy lies in my name, saying I have
dreamed, I have dreamed. How long shall this be
in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies?
Yea, they are prophets of deceit of their own
heart;
(Jeremiah 23:25,26)

Hebrew for "deceit" is remiyah (rem-ee-yaw)

remissness, treachery, deceit, false guile, idle,
slack, and slothful. Saul had a problem when he
stepped out of the will of God and was rejected.
He was chosen by God to be the first king in
Israel. The Hebrew word for Israel is Yisrael [He
will rule (as) God].
Saul had a prophetic mantle upon him. Saul
was a prophet that prophesied after God gave
him a new heart (I Samuel 10:1-11). Saul's pride
caused his downfall through disobedience. Saul's
rebellion
was
against
the
word.
The
commandment of the Lord was to kill all the
58

imagery prophets

Amalekites. God gave him a heart to do his will,

but Saul looked at the peoplethe position and
not the giver of it.
Keep your eyes on God and not the people
because your eyes will take their focus off eternal
things and place their focus on temporal things.
Saul backslid for not obeying the word of the
Lord. And the kingdom was taken from him.
You can think you still have a position and try
to operate out of the soulish realm. When in
reality, the Spirit of the Lord has departed from
you and you can't hear from God. Your anointing
which was given by God has departed.
Saul was a prophet who couldn't hear from
God anymore. Furthermore, Samuel was dead.
Saul went looking for a witch because he could
not hear the voice of God. The Lord had stopped
speaking to him. Don't think that God won't stop
speaking to you. Repent!!
Saul killed the priest of the Lord in his
rebellion. How many people want to hear from
God after trying to kill God's preachers with their
tongue? Saul visited a witch. There are many men
and women of God who have fallen back into sin,

59

woe be unto the prophets

seeking witches, warlocks, and wizards. And,

now they are serving devils.
Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had
lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in
his own city. And Saul had put away those that
had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the
land. And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the
LORD answered him not, neither by dreams,
nor by Urim, nor by prophets. Then said Saul
unto his servants, Seek me a women that hath a
familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire
of her. And his servants said to him, Behold,
there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at
Endor.
(I Samuel 28: 3,6,7)

As we see, Saul had went back also on God's

word. Instead of repenting, he went to a witch.
Endor is a place of dwelling and many people are
like Saul. When they can't get an answer from the
Lord, they go from place to place to try to find
directions. All they have to do is learn to wait on
God. There are too many popcorn Christians; they
want everything to pop up all at once.
We must learn to wait on God, even if it
means a little suffering (2 Corinthians 4:16-18). So,
60

imagery prophets

remember a witch is a witch whether black magic

or white magic. Witchcraft is witchcraft. There is
no color. It's all demonic powers working against
the truth to pervert you.
Now, some prophets have forgotten the God
that called them. They speak and prophesy out of
their soulish realm. Instead of waiting to speak as
God leads them, they will say God said and He
hasn't spoken to them. They will say they had a
vision and they would have made it up.
Imagery prophets imagine things and try to
make it seem as if God gave them a vision, but it
is of their own imagination. The psychics talk
money, mates, and jobs. Now, we have so called
prophets that say cars, jobs, and money are falling
from the sky.
You might think I have something against
prophets. NO! My very first prophetic vision was
when I was about six years old and I was not
raised in church. I am not a self-proclaimed
prophet. It's true to say, if God wants you to be in
the prophetic office, He will confirm it.
But, to the ones that always say, "Bless, bless,
cars, wealth, etc", they must realize that some

61

woe be unto the prophets

people can't receive a blessing in the realm of the

prophetic until their lives are in line with the
word of God.
God judges His prophets by sound wisdom
and love. We have a great responsibility on this
earth to respect this office and to keep it within
the context of the Scriptures and not to use it for
personal gain, nor to be recognized, but to stay
humble before God.
It hurts to see some prophets become angry
when they are not allowed to set up money lines
for prophecy. If that was the case, they could call
the 1-800 catch-a-sucker! It's enough of false
dreams and visions; it's time for the real prophets
to come forth and stand for holiness and
righteousness. These things are sometimes easy to
say, but we must live them.
There are true prophets and there are false
prophets, trying to make a profit. Beware of those
false prophets!! It's not about money, but it's
about the anointing. For the record, prophets
must be filled with the Holy Spirit and baptized
under water in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
If a person ever gives you a word and says

62

imagery prophets

they are a prophet, pray about it. Don't receive

everything someone says because they have a title
in front of their name. Make sure they make full
proof of their ministry. Now, if a prophet does
come to your church and try to prophesy to
everyone, pray about that prophet, as well.
If the church is small, that's understandable.
But, if you have over 300 people and he tries to
speak to a hundred or more, one by one, he may
be speaking out of his flesh (soul) or even his own
spirit. Webster's defines imagery as the art of
making images, mental images; the products of
imaginations.
I thank God for true prophets. Now, if you
have read this far and you are upset or disagree
or you think that I am picking on your office as a
prophetmaybe you need to look at it. If you
examine yourself, then you are walking in
humility and not in pride. If you know that God is
working with you, then let a man examine
himself (Galatians 1:10, II Corinthians 13:5).
Jesus said, "Not everyone that will say, 'Lord:
will enter into the kingdom.'" Be mindful. Watch
what you hear and watch what you pray.

63

chapter fourteen
14

false prophets

But there were false prophets also among the

people, even as there shall be false teachers
among you, who privily shall bring in damnable
heresies, even denying the Lord that bought
them, and bring upon themselves swift
destruction. Having eyes full of adultery, and
that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable
souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous
practices; cursed children: But was rebuked for
his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's
voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
(II Peter 2:1,14-16)

ebster's defines false as not true, untrue,

dishonest, deceive, inaccurate not
faithful or loyal; treacherous, sham,
artificial,
mistaken
ideas.
These
prophets have seduced so many people through
their lies. They devour your substance. They like
65

woe be unto the prophets

to look superfly in their robes and rings and their

eyes are full of greed. They promote themselves
and their power of a false gift when it comes from
satan. They are transformed into false ministers.
For such are false apostles, deceitful
workers, transforming themselves into the
apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan
himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also
be transformed as the ministers of righteousness;
whose end shall be according to their works.
(II Corinthians 11:13-15)

False prophets are not easy to discern unless

you live the word of God. These spirits of
falseness will have you believe a lie before you
believe the truth. You can see their character by
the fruit that they bear, through the word of God.
Now, dealing with this spirit: Some will call it
a religious spirit, which use Scriptures as a cloak
to hide their sins. These spirits have the ability to
change at times; some can quote Scriptures very
well, but they can't keep it within the context of
the truth.
False prophets lie to gain some control
through prophecy. They will lie through their
66

false prophets

teeth to manipulate you and bewitch you with

demonic lies. They teach falsely. They will not
hold to the whole truth of the text of the Bible.
Their goal is to rob you of what you have. This
spirit is an undermining spirit.
Here are some key words to show you a false
prophet: FALSEIn Greek it is apoleia, meaning
damnable, ruin or loss, spiritual or eternal
destruction, die, perdition, perish. The word,
PRIVILY is overlooked: In Hebrew it is lathra
secretly, covertly; covered secret; by incantation,
covertly enchantment, softly.
It's so true that these leaders have great
influence upon newly saved Christians. It's sad
when someone says to a babe in Christ that they
can do the same thing their leader does a few
weeks in a church. These devils will cause a split.
Beware of their false humility for the devil is
QUIET before he strikes through deceit. Another
word is HERESIEShairesis in the Greek
meaning disunion, sect.
You can discern a false prophet when he
brings into the church three things: enchantments,
disunion, and destruction. The object is to scatter
the flock of God and to devour the sheep. I have
67

woe be unto the prophets

talked to false prophets who wanted me to

prophesy lies even when I said "I couldn't". They
even came to the point of speaking failure in the
church. Some even fasted to destroy the church.
You can't let someone tell you what you are
becoming if they're not walking in the love of
God. Why do so many saints think they have it?
They believe that all they have to do is have a gift
or copy someone else's. The body of Christ is
becoming a stage for actors.
They believe they just have to act saved, but
not live it. II Peter 2:14 says, "Having their eyes
full of adultery". Hebrew for "adultery" is naph,
which means to commit adultery, and that they
cannot cease from sin. "Cease" is betel, meaning
stop; beguiling, unstable souls: "Beguiling" in the
Greek is deleazoto seduce, entrap, allure, entice;
ebullient is defined as: a boiling or bubbling up,
seething excitement or outburst. Webster's
definition of "turbulence" is the quality of state of
being; turbulent causing disturbance.
The Scripture goes on to say, "...an heart they
have exercised with covetous practices; cursed
children." Hebrew for "covetous" is batsa, Which
means to plunder, to finish; "Curse" in Hebrew is
68

false prophets

alah, meaning imprecation. There is another

Hebrew word for "curse". It is cherem, meaning
doomed object.
Read II Peter 2:15,16. The devil has sent these
impostors into the church to try to destroy that
wonderful name, Jesus Christ, through false
teachings. There is much more than this on false
prophets but it will take me about three books to
write it.
God wants His body, the church, to be alert.
We can't allow everyone with a false gift to
seduce the people of God. These verses of
Scripture will help. Read them. Pray and ask the
Lord to give you insight on the workings of the
enemy in your ministry. God will hold you
responsible and accountable for His flock. Read
these chapters as well: John 10, Matthew 24 and I
Peter 5.
Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets
prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not,
neither have I commanded them, neither spake
unto them: They prophesy unto you a false
vision and divination, and a thing of nought,
and the deceit of their heart.
(Jeremiah 14:14)
69

lying prophets

ince my call to Christ, I have seen many

come and go. Some go because of pride.
The others left because of a lie. If you had
someone to tell a lie on you, it doesn't feel
good because you didn't do or say what you were
accused of. That is the same way God feels. Many
people are saying that God has said things He did
not say.
Early in my ministry, we had a young man
come from out of town. We took him in and
placed him with some saints. This young man
once operated in the prophetic. He arrived with
no money and was also in a backslidden
condition. I was hoping that he would get it right
with God. But, this young man was deeply
wounded.
We prayed for him and certain saints started
71

woe be unto the prophets

to help him. They helped him by buying him

clothes and things. But, little did I know that he
was out there trying to destroy my name. I asked
him why would he say these things about me and
he said that they were true.
He also said that I needed to be disciplined.
The young man said that I had no fun. He said
that I stayed in the Bible too much and that the
ministry should be his. He started to spread lies
about me. I wanted to argue with him, but my
wife said, "Just wait on God".
Little did I know that this man was flirting
with sisters in the church and praying against me.
He was a single man and thought that he could
just run all over the church. I became very angry
and began to pray. But, it seemed as though his
lies were more powerful than the truth I was
preaching.
One day, I asked him to leave the church. But,
he refused to leave and continued to cause havoc.
He continued to spread his seeds of discord until
he caused a minor split in the church. After this
situation, only the faithful were left supporting
the ministry. This young man prophesied in the
church that God was going to destroy my
72

lying prophets

ministry. I responded back and said, "We will

see".
There is a lot that was learned from that
incident. I did not try that spirit. I was trying to be
nice. We learned to acknowledge God in
everything after that. But that lying spirit caused
many to think that I was wrong and that I
shouldn't minister the word in boldness, but just
talk about the things of the world and love.
Lying prophets are deceiving prophets; satan
fills these prophets with thoughts of confusion
and tells them whatever they say is the truth and
that everyone else is wrong. This young man
actually walked around the church, praying
against my teaching. He literally tried to usurp
the order of the service while I was still
ministering the word. He would get up, walk
around the church and start talking to people. He
would leave the church, pointing to his watch as
if to tell me to hurry up.
If you ever have this problem, the best thing
to do is to rebuke openly. Don't wait as long as I
did. Deal with it as soon as you see it. This advice
comes from first-hand experience dealing with a
lying spirit. They will try to find people who
73

woe be unto the prophets

would agree with them against you. But, stand

and teach against gossip and discord. You will see
a major difference.
Read the following Scriptures for reference:
Galatians 5:6-26; II Thessalonians 2:7-12; II Peter
2:1,2; and I John 4:1. Form a prayer group and
pray for that soul. That the lying spirit will release
the tongue of the person it has possessed or
oppressed.
In my case, this young man was still
possessed with this spirit and not desiring to be
liberated (set free). He thinks I am the devil
because he could not have the ministry. I still love
him, even to this day He was once a powerful
prophet of God when I first met him. That is why
it is best to try all spirits to see if they are of God.

the motivation of
the lying prophet

here is a lying spirit and his name is satan and

he is the father of lies.
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts
of your father ye will do. He was a murderer
from the beginning, and abode not in the truth,
because there is no truth in him. When he
speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a
liar, and the father of it.
(John 8:44)

The devil is the author of a lie and the finisher

of it. He is our enemy because he opposes the
truth. He can't tell the truth. As prophets, when
you are walking in the word and the counsel of
God, He will direct your steps. There is an
anointing called truth. And anytime you stand for
the truth, you are walking according to the word
75

woe be unto the prophets

of God. The devil cannot handle the truth because

the truth is that he is defeated.
Many prophets are condemned for speaking
the truth. If they expose sin, they will be
persecuted by people who say that it was not
done in love. When Christ rebuked leaders, He
did it in love to save their souls from hell. That is
if they believed that He was the Messiah.
Lying prophets operate in pride, they say the
Lord has spoken, but they speak out of their flesh.
Most lying prophets prophesy for money. They
tell you what you want to hear instead of what
you need to save your soul from hell. The Hebrew
word for "lying" is Kedab, meaning false,
misleading. Kazab means to lie, deceive.
Balaam was a true prophet who became
disobedient. Read Numbers 22-24. Balaam was
motivated by greed and his own greed killed him.
Also read Numbers 31: 8,16. Balaam's name
means not of my people.
A lying prophet hides behind material things
and takes gifts to prophesy in the name of greed.
This is what motivates a lying spiritGREED. We
can see this in 2 Kings chapter 5. Gehazi went

76

the motivation of the lying prophet

behind his master's back and lied saying that his

master wanted these gifts (worldly possessions)
that he had refused. Naaman gave and Gehazi
received.
Lying prophets love the things of the world
and they lie to get what they want. This servant of
the prophet did just that; he lied by using the
name of Elisha. How many false prophets lie by
using the name of the Lord? This young man was
being trained as a prophet, but when his master
asked him where he was, he lied. So many of us
try to lie when the Lord asks us where have you
been. Elisha said to the lying prophet.
But he went in, and stood before his master.
And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou,
Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no
wither. And he said unto him, Went not mine
heart with thee, when the man turned again
from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to
receive money, and to receive garments, and
olive yards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen,
and menservants, and maidservants? The
leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto
thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went
out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
(II Kings 5:25-27)
77

woe be unto the prophets

You can try to covet a blessing or allow greed

to attach itself to you. But, a curse will come upon
you because of the love of money. The lust of this
world is the root of evil if you do not have the
love of God in you. This young man learned a
great lesson and it was that lying didn't work. The
prophet said:
Did not my spirit go with you when you
when the man turned from his chariot to meet
you? Was it a time to accept money, garments,
olive orchids, vineyards, sheep, oxen,
menservants and maidservants.
(II Kings 5:26 AMP)

It is important to understand that the young

servant's name, Gehazi, means "valley of a
visionary" in Hebrew. It shows a lot about his
character. In the valley, he allowed what his
natural vision saw to destroy him with leprosy,
which eats away at the flesh. How much more
does sin eat away at the soul? There is a lot we
can learn from this young man. If you don't keep
yourself from the lust of the eyes and of the
world, you will lie to get what you want.

blessings vs. curses

ying prophets can't stand the truth. And,

they hate it when someone shows up
speaking the truth. These people are
miserable, bitter and lustful. Sometimes
these prophets prophesy for positions. It's sad to
see people use the gift which God gave them for
selfishness.
Many people don't like to have prophets
around because they fear the truth. They hate to
hear about the judgment of God against sin and
they hate rebuke. They will fight the perfect will
of God for their own causes and for their will to
be done.
They believe that every word shall be to no
correction. If they see the enemy coming, they lie
about it. They don't want you to know the truth
because it would take away their positions. They
79

woe be unto the prophets

prophesy lies (I Kings 22:19,23).

It is true that real sincere people can be
seduced by this spirit. This lying spirit controls
the tongue and it tries to possess it. The Greek
word for "tongue" is glossa. Why do these lying
spirits want to control the prophet's tongue? If
they control the tongue instead of blessing people,
they will curse.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father;
and therewith curse we men, which are made
after the similitude of God. Out of the same
mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My
brethren, these things ought not so to be.
(James 3:9,10)

I have seen prophets of God say, " I'm going

to curse this person and they will die". It may
sound strange, but many prophets curse instead
of bless. I'm not speaking of all prophets, but a
few. I can remember meeting prophets of God
who started talking about people who hurt them.
They also felt that everyone did them wrong.
They were prophets but it is sad that they
cursed so many people. They shared with me
about the people dying if they came against them.
80

blessings vs. curses

The majority of the times, these people would die.

This false sense of power made them think that
they were doing God's will.
To the contrary they were being deceived by a
lying spirit. That's why Paul said this:
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(Ephesians 6:12)

The devil perverted these men of God's

understanding about spiritual warfare. It's sad to
say that today they have to deal with the spirit of
fear and are afraid of so much. They are great
men of God who were wounded in the spirit and
started to curse and bless people. If they had only
looked at Ephesians 6:12.
It's disturbing to see these prophets trying to
control people through a lie. They think that so
many are trying to kill them. Satan does have a hit
out on their lives. Webster's defines against as
directly opposite to face, as defense from, to
strike, touch. The word of God says bless and
curse not.
81

woe be unto the prophets

We find Paul and Peter spoke of those that are

cursed, who have a desire to believe a lie instead
of the truth.
Having their eyes full of adultery, and that
cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls:
a heart they have exercised with covetous
practices; cursed children.
(II Peter 2:14)

Here we find that most lying prophets will try

to hide the works of the flesh Peter was speaking
of. We know it as witchcraft. They are beguiling.
Greek for "beguiling" is deleazo, which means to
delude or seduce.
In Paul's letter to the Galatians, he wrote:
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from
him that called you into the grace of Christ unto
another gospel: Which is not another; but there
be some that trouble you, and would pervert the
gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel
from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you
than that which we have preached unto you, let
him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now
again, if any man preach any other gospel unto
you than that ye have received, let him be
accursed.
82

blessings vs. curses

(Galatians 1:6-9)

Paul also wrote to the Corinthians:

The salutation of me Paul with mine own
hand. If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ,
let him be Anathema Maranatha.
(I Corinthians 16:21,22)

Anathema Maranatha is a divine curse.
