EARLY CHECKOUTS, ROOM DAMAGES AND YOUR DEPOSIT

Residents (with the exception of scholarship athletes) may leave Miner Heights beginning
May 1st and will only be charged for the days they remain on campus. Room damages, such
as charges related to cleaning, removal of items left behind, and replacement of broken Miner
Heights property will be assessed to your student account. NOTE: If one roommate does not
accept responsibility for noted damage, all roommates will share the cost(s). Failure to clean or
failure to properly check out of your apartment could result in the delay (or forfeit) of your
room deposit along with whatever additional cost is necessary to return the room to an
acceptable condition.

and other items during
exam week.
All items will be
collected in Horizon
Hall at designated
locations. Think of
others as you begin to

helpful hints!
*Horizon Hall will be lending out brooms, dust
pans, mops, cleaning chemicals, vacuums,
dollies for moving heavy items, along with
replacement light bulbs and trash bags for your
use. Bring your ID to the office or call 747-6112
for more information.
*Remember that the drawers in your kitchen and
bedroom can be removed easily for cleaning.
Just pull them out and lift up! The refrigerator
can be moved out of its location for cleaning.
They are on wheels!
*When arranging a checkout appointment with
the staff, remember that you should be prepared
to hand over your keys at that moment, and not
thirty minutes later. Your departure may be
delayed if staff come to your room and cannot
complete your checkout in a timely fashion.

OUR CLEANING EXPECTATIONS ARE


LISTED BELOW. EACH ROOMMATE
SHOULD ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR
THE FOLLOWING TASKS TO AVOID
CLEANING CHARGES! NOTE: RESIDENTS
ARE FREQUENTLY CHARGED FOR ITEMS
IN BOLD. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO
THESE ITEMS!!
Living room
Wipe down outside and inside of front door,
remove all stickers
Sweep and mop tile entry
Clean window, sill and blinds of all dust
Remove cushions and Vacuum sofa and chair
Dust and/or wipe table tops
Vacuum carpet
Remove and clean light fixture cover, replace
Replace any burnt out bulbs (available at the
Horizon Hall Office)
Kitchen
Sweep and mop tile to include under stove and
refrigerator
Remove all items from cabinets and refrigerator
Clean inside as well as outside of all cabinets
Wipe off counter top
Thoroughly clean stove top, drip pans, vent
hood and oven. Making sure sides of stove are
free of dirt and grease
Wipe out the inside of refrigerator, to include
freezer. (Use an all purpose cleaner such as
409, or mild soap and water)
Wipe down outside of refrigerator including
sides and dust in back
Bathroom
Sweep and mop all tiled areas
Wipe counter
Scour sinks with Comet or Ajax powder
Clean mirrors
Clear out drawers and under cabinets and wipe
down with mild detergent
Replace any burnt out bulbs
Scrub toilet and shower-Comet may have to
set on shower bottom for hour to loosen any
ground in dirt
Bedrooms
Remove all trash and personal items from room,
drawers and closet
Vacuum carpet
Dust blinds and window sill
Dust dresser and desk tops as well as inside
drawers
Remove and clean light fixture cover-replace
Replace burnt out bulbs

**The room deposit of $200.00 will be returned
within 30 days to residents who have not incurred
