The Admonitions have been called the “Beatitudes of Gospel
Minority” by Kajetan Esser. “Minority” is a key to unlock the
richness of the originality of Francis of Assisi, and the Admonitions-
--insights offered to his followers at their chapters and gatherings---
are an indispensable source to tap into Francis’ wisdom and insights
about the human person and the working of grace.
This retreat will provide a context for and exploration of the
Admonitions so that they can become a guide and a handbook for
our daily lives. At times seemingly harsh, at other times seemingly
benign, the Admonitions can help bring Francis’ true spirit to life
for a contemporary religious who seeks to follow in the footprints of
Jesus.

our own paths in relation to them. Clare kept “a vacancy for

announce the resurrection…how do we mirror this Hope with our

In The Canticle of the Creatures, Francis of Assisi showed us a way
of respecting the relationship we have with the rest of creation, as
he addressed sun and moon, wind and fire as his brothers and
sisters. This program will challenge us to think about how we are
keeping his vision alive as it focuses on “Who will speak for the
small but beautiful members of creation who are our brothers and
sisters, and what kind of life do we share together?”

Spiritual Book Club – August, 2010
This is an informal chance to meet with fellow seekers on a spiritual
journey. Group chooses the book to read and discuss. New book
discussion begins in January. All are welcome. Group meets third
Monday of the month from January through May. Fee is cost of the
book.
Drumming Circle
Since the dawn of time, people have created and used percussion
instruments to come together to honor spirit, dance, celebrate, and
participate in sacred ceremonies. Drumming is used for prayer,
meditation, healing, and expressing the energies and emotions of
our lives. No experience is required. Instruments are provided or
you can bring your own. Sessions held fourth Friday of the month
January through June from 7-9pm. Fee is $10 per session.
