Captulo 1
SEISAN
El sistema de analisis ssmico SEISAN es un conjunto de programas y una base de datos
para el analisis de datos sismologicos.[Ottemoller et al., 2013]
Con SEISAN es posible picar digitalmente, las fases ssmicas (P y S) y/o ingresar las
lecturas de tiempos de arribo en forma manual , localizar eventos, editar el archivo de lecturas
de las fases (S-file), localizar mediante el azimut para una estacion de tres componentes,
desplegar epicentros, entre otras tareas que lleva a cabo una agencia sismologica.
La caracterstica principal de SEISAN es proporcionar un sistema sencillo para el procesamiento rutinario de diversos datos sismologicos, ya sean digitales, analogicos, banda ancha,
telessmicos o locales. Otra caracterstica importante es la capacidad de almacenar y recuperar todos los datos en un sistema u
nico.[Havskov et al., 2012]
El sistema consta de un conjunto de programas vinculados a la misma base de datos. Usando
los programas de b
usqueda, es posible utilizar diferentes criterios para buscar en la base de
datos para eventos particulares y trabajar con este subconjunto sin extraer las formas de
onda. La mayora de los programas pueden funcionar tanto en forma convencional (mediante
un archivo u
nico con diversos eventos), o en forma de base de datos.

1.2.
Instalando SEISAN
1. Crear un directorio con el nombre seismo en cualquier ruta, en este caso en particular
la ruta ($PATH$) empleada es: /home/ccri/Programas.
ccri@ezln :~/ Programas$ mkdir seismo
De aqu en adelante la ruta absoluta a la carpeta seismo, sera una variable de entorno, cuyo valor es: $SEISAN TOP$=/home/ccri/Programas/seismo
Y que modificaremos en el archivo $SEISAN TOP$/COM/SEISAN.bash
en el punto n
umero 3.
Para el caso de los lectores, esto dependera de la ruta elegida y de la configuracion de
su equipo.
2. Desempaquetamos y/o descomprimimos los archivos *tar.gz para proceder a la instalacion de SEISAN.

11. Una vez modificados estos 5 archivos (SEISAN.bash, 2 Makefile, tdmt invb.h y

Ingresamos a la carpeta PRO, y escribimos en la terminal:

Con esto se eliminaran los ejecutables de SEISAN de la carpeta PRO, para poder
compilarlos desde cero.
Tardara un par de minutos, dado que se estan compilando los programas desde cero. Si
no encontramos errores en la compilacion ya tenemos instalado el programa SEISAN
en nuestra computadora.

2. Descargar y descomprimir en alguna ruta de su eleccion (directorio WOR, e.g.), la carpeta archivosSEISAN.zip que contiene los archivos de lnea de costa y coordenadas
de las estaciones: MEXICO.MAP, STATION0.HYP, respectivamente, y los directorios con las formas de ondas y archivos de respuestas: sismogramas y calibracion.

El nombre de la base de datos sera uno que este relacionado con los datos que se
analizaran y las fechas de inicio y fin tambien estaran relacionadas con los objetivos
del experimento que se este realizando.
Antes de empezar a trabajar con cualquier archivo, debe registrarse previamente en
una base de datos de SEISAN, nosotros hemos creado la base de datos CURSO, que
sera la que utilizaremos en este ejemplo.
8. Ingresar al directorio donde se tienen las formas de onda a registrar (para este ejemplo,
los sismogramas ya estan en formato SEISAN, en caso contrario, primero habra que
convertir del formato nativo al formato SEISAN con alg

14. Para cada fase leda asignar un peso (de 0 a 4, ver Tabla 1.2) en funcion de la confianza
en dicha lectura (si la asignacion de pesos en MULPLT no funciona -SHIFT + teclas
1 a 4 (peso 0 por defecto)-, asignar el peso posteriormente, editando el archivo S
(S-file).
15. Repetir los pasos 13 y 14 para todos los registros. En la Figura 1.4 se muestra un
registro local donde se han identificado la fase P y la fase S.

rms. Para las estaciones mas lejanas, y en caso de que el rms aumente demasiado, se
recomienda asignar a las lecturas de dichas estaciones un peso de 4.
