CHS Functionality Presentation: Tips and Tricks

Presenter Instructions:
(Perform the day prior to the presentation)
1. Open the TSS Community Homespace Functionality presentation (Posted to
the Small Document Repository).
2. Detach the CHS Functionality Presentation Final.ppt to your system
3. Go to Slide # 13 and refer to the leader notes. Place the current Queue # for
that day (as listed in the leader notes) within the slide in the specified
location.
4. Print the changed document by selecting File, then Print. Under Print What,
select Notes Pages, and then check the box for Scale to Fit Paper.
5. Go to File, then Save As, and choose the location to save the document,
however, click on the drop down box next to Save As Type. Choose PowerPoint
Show.pps. This will save the document as a Slide Show without the leader
notes.
6. When presenting, use the PPS version of your document. This will save you
the number of open documents open on the screen.
(On the day of the presentation)
1. Make sure you are in a closed location (office, closed door, etc).
2. Make sure all programs except Sametime are closed.
3. 15 minutes prior to the start of the session, go to the scheduled meetings,
and find the TSS Community Home Space Functionality session for that day.
Start the session. Choose to share your screen, and open the PPS version of
your document. Also open a new Internet Explorer Window and go to the
CHS.
4. Dial in to the ACT dial in number and make sure the ringleader is online. If
not, send a Sametime.
5. Place your Sametime on Do Not Disturb
(During the presentation)
1. When switching between the CHS and the slides, use the <alt> and <tab> or
<alt> <shift> and <tab> command to change screens.

5. Dial in to the ACT dial in number.
6. Place your Sametime on Do Not Disturb.
(During the presentation)
1. Be sure to take the Attendance both before and after the presentation to grab
all participants. Leave at least 5 minutes to do this task both times.
2. When reading keep your head up, and if possible, hold the notes at eye level.
The more you keep your head up, the better you project.
3. What you say is as important as how you say it. If you pretend youre reading
from a script, your voice will come out the same. Add some personality
behind the words. Inflect your voice to add highs and lows and increase the
level of excitement in your participants.
4. Relax! This isnt Rocket Science! You know your stuff, and you are the expert.
Take charge.
5. Dont be afraid to make mistakes. It can only help to show youre human.
6. Dont be afraid to ask your presenter to go back a slide, or to another feature
in the CHS. The more you show, the more your participants learn.
7. Keep track of time, just enough to make sure youre not rambling on. Limit
your time for your speaking points and questions.
8. Did we mention to RELAX?

For Ringleader: E-mail this to your scheduled participants one day prior to
the course.

Please make sure you have the following:

sharing, please try to have the machine connected to a data projector

Questions! We will be picking attendees at random for questions to gauge

help. :-) Questions can be asked at any time during the presentation, and
there will be time at the end of the session to ask any questions of the
Knowledge Champion moderating.
