Objectives

Student is able to:


1. plan lessons that are in line with the current Malaysian English Language syllabus
for primary schools to develop writing skills based on the theories and principles of
teaching writing skills, including the selection, design and evaluation of materials
for developing writing skills
2. implement lessons to develop writing skills in the primary ESL classroom, including
appropriate assessment and feedback, and subsequently assess and review
teaching performance

Assessment strategy:
1. Continuous assessment is carried out to ensure the students have attained and
achieved the expected level of the prescribed course learning outcomes. The set
coursework will contribute 50% to the final grade for the course.

11. Synopsis

Summative assessment consists of a written examination consisting of shortresponse and essay questions to assess student performance. The examination
questions will be set by the course lecturer and the examination will be held at a
scheduled time. The examination will also contribute 50% to the final grade for the
course.

This course focuses on the nature and purpose of writing, developmental stages of writing,
approaches in teaching writing skills, techniques of teaching writing, selection and
adaptation of materials and activities, assessing writing skills, planning for teaching writing,
lesson planning, remedial and enrichment activities for developing writing skills, and
microteaching.
Kursus ini berfokus pada sifat dan tujuan penulisan, peringkat-peringkat perkembangan
penulisan, pendekatan pengajaran kemahiran menulis, teknik pengajaran kemahiran
menulis, pemilihan dan penyesuaian bahan dan aktiviti, pentaksiran kemahiran menulis,
merancang untuk pengajaran kemahiran menulis, perancangan pelajaran, aktiviti
pemulihan dan pengayaan untuk meningkatkan kemahiran menulis dan pengajaran mikro.
