LICENCEFORWORKINGNEWLIFT

TheOwnerofthePlacewhoispermittedtoerectalift,oncompletionoferection
shallapplyforalicencewiththefollowingdocuments.
a. DulyfilledinForm'B'thenoticeofcompletionoferectionoflift(Download
FormB)andenclosethefollowing
b. TheworkcompletionreportoftheManufacturerofLifts
c. TheWorkCompletionreportoftheElectricalContractor.
d. CopyofLicenseoftheelectricalcontractorandsupervisorpermit.
e. Original receipt/ challan for Rs. 2000/ (The amount shall be remitted at any
Govt.TreasuryorBankunderheadofaccount0043oratofficecashcounter.)
f. ForwardtheaboveincompleteshapetotherespectiveDeputyChiefElectrical
Inspector(ToknowtheOfficelocationClickHere)
Onreceiptoftheabovecompletioncertificate&documents,theDeputyChiefElectrical
Inspectorshallinspecttheliftinstallationonthepreintimateddateinthepresenceof
the owner lift manufacturer and the Electrical Contractor. Necessary tests will be

conductedduringtheinspectionandonsatisfyinghimselfthattheLiftinstallationisin
general conformity with the Karnataka Lift Act & Rules and I E Rules, 1956,
recommendationswillbesenttotheChiefElectricalInspectorforgranttheLicence.On
theotherhandifanydefectsarenoticedduringtheinspection,thesamewillbeasked
tocomplyandtosubmitthecompliancereport.Reinspectionwillbetakenupandthe
compliance report will be verified before the recommendations are sent to the Chief
ElectricalInspectortoissuetheLicence.
After receipt of the Licence every owner of a lift shall enter into a contract with the
makersoftheLiftortheiragentsforthesatisfactorymaintenanceincludingcleaning,
oiling,adjustingandrepairingoftheLift.

TheChiefElectricalInspectorwhoisthestateInspectorofLiftoranyofficerauthorized
inthisbehalfmayatanytimeaftergivingnoticeinFormEtotheOccupantenterupon
anybuildinginwhichaliftisinstalledorisbeinginstalledforthepurposeofinspecting
thelift.Ifonsuchinspectiontheofficerisoftheopinionthattheinstallationisinunsafe
condition,hemayissueanorderontheownerorhisagentrequiringsuchrepairsor
alterationstobemadetosuchliftashemaydeemnecessarywithinthetimespecified
thereinandmayalsoifnecessaryordertheuseofsuchlifttobediscontinuedtillthe
repairsoralterationsareeffected.Theownerortheagentshallcomplywiththeorder
withinthetimestipulatedandreportinwritingtotheofficerofhavingsocomplied.
The owner or the agent of the lift shall afford all reasonable facilities to the officer
inspectingthelift.
