IMPORTANT
Notes on Modifying Tags for Foundation Fieldbus Devices
1. Specification
y When a tag is modified, the communication connection information (VCR and Link
Object) is automatically cleared. This information is defined in the Foundation
Fieldbus specification.
y When a tag is modified, the schedule information of the function block
(FB_START_ENTRY) is automatically cleared. This information is defined in the
function specification for communication cards of National Instruments.
To conclude: When a tag is set, the schedule information and communication connection
information are automatically cleared.
2. Yokogawa Device Operation
When the schedule information of the function block is cleared, the operation of AI Block
stops and the LCD display values (for example, a pressure value in the case of EJA)
cannot indicate the current state.
You need to be careful, because there is a possibility that the displayed PV value
(usually, OUT of AI Block) is different from the actual value. You can confirm the actual
value in Device Viewer.

DTM Works
DTM Works is a frame application in which device DTM is able to run.
DTM (Device Type Manager) is a GUI application specifically designed for devices
that enables devices specific parameters to be set. Because it complies with the
FDT/DTM standards, it also enables the parameters to be adjusted or set in the
same window in others host systems that support DTM.
TIP
The following describes the Yokogawa device DTM. When you use the device DTM of other
manufacturer, operation and display are subject to change depending on the device manufacturers.
Refer to the instruction manual for the device DTM of the respective manufacturers.

DTM has the following two device parameter setup windows:
Online Parameter window:
Used to directly display, set, or modify device internal parameters in the connected
status.
The Online Parameter window is available only in the connected status.
In addition, the Online Parameter window enables the display of dynamic data such
as process data, in addition to setting parameters.
Online Parameter function
Communicating with the connected device directly, parameters are displayed and
adjusted. Parameters are categorized in the tree view on a function basis. It
displays the respective DTM window on the tree view selection.
Offline Parameter window:
This window is used to set device parameters in the device DTM regardless of the
connection status of communication with a device. Thus, in the Offline Parameter
window, device internal parameters cannot be directly displayed, set, or modified.
Offline Parameter function
Parameters are managed without communication with the device. Device
parameters sets are loaded and saved from/to database offline.
Upload from Device:
Uploads device internal parameters to the device parameters in the device DTM.
Executing Upload from Device causes parameters displayed in the Offline
Parameter window to be replaced by device internal parameters.
Download to Device:
Downloads the device parameters in the Device DTM that have been edited in the
Offline Parameter window to device internal parameters. (Note)

Parameter Manager
Overview
Parameter Manager has the following functions. HART / Foundation Fieldbus H1
devices are supported.
1. Uploads device parameters.
2. Exports and imports parameters to/from TSV files.
3. Compares the parameters of the connected device with those imported from a file
and checks differences.
4. Selects the parameters for download and then downloads them to the device.
5. Enables parameters freely selected by the user from all the parameters to be
assigned to a Custom tab for up to 5 groups. The selection becomes a common
definition for identical device models. For Foundation Fieldbus H1 devices,
parameter assignment is possible across Foundation Fieldbus H1 blocks.
A DD (Device Description) file corresponding to the device is required to use these
functions. DD files are provided by device vendors. The "Device Files CD-ROM"
includes redistributable DD files obtained from the HART Communication Foundation
and Fieldbus Foundation.

Overview
The features of Advance are indicated below.
IMPORTANT
Advance includes all of the functions of Basic.
Cases of Use
FieldMate Advance is supposed to be used in the following two ways, and provides an
operation system and performs data management accordingly.
1. Setting and adjustment on a workbench, etc. before on-site installation.
Or setting and adjustment at installation site.
This way of use is common for both Basic and Advance.
2. Setting and adjustment remotely via network.
This way of use is only for Advance.
The uses described above are selected by switching between Built-in Connection and

z Device Maintenance Information Memo
This is a memo that the user can freely write to the device when inspecting devices for
instance. Multiple memos can be defined for a device.
F-13
Device Maintenance Information Identifier
The identifier that specifies device maintenance information is the Device ID (an item of
the device information (Basic Information) of the device maintenance information). A
Device ID is an ID that specifies each device. For PROFIBUS and BRAIN devices, set a
unique ID to Device ID to manage the device information.
F-14
F-1-1-3
Overview
There are several ways to register device maintenance information.
1. Offline registration
There are two ways to register offline; manual registration and import registration.
Offline registration means that FieldMate is not connected.
Manual registration
Registration is done in the Device Navigator.
Enter the device maintenance information to register.
Import registration*
Registration is done in the Device Navigator.
Import device files or device templates to register.
* See F-1-2-3 Importing and Exporting Device Maintenance Information
2. Online registration
Select the device in the Segment Viewer (Built-in Connection mode) and obtain
information from the device to register.
There are two types of registration; New registration and Overwrite registration (The
latter overwrites the existing device maintenance information with information
obtained from the connected device).
Overwrite registration applies to devices registered offline.
As for devices that are before delivery or actual installation, it is possible to register
manually or by import, and then register by overwrite after the connected device is
delivered.

maintenance information, go to 3.
If there is, go to A.
3. User will be asked Do you want to newly register the device? Or do you want to
overwrite to the existing device maintenance information?
4. If new registration is selected, information from the connected device is obtained
and the device maintenance information is created to complete the process.
5. If overwrite registration is selected, candidates to be overwritten will be shown. The
available selection has an empty Device ID (yet to be set), and the Communication
Type, Manufacturer ID, Device Type, and Device Revision must all match.
6. The existing device maintenance information that was selected and the Device Tag
and the Address of the connected device will be compared. If it is not the same, a
selection of which one to adjust to is made.
If the user wants to adjust to the existing device maintenance information, then a
process to change the Device Tag and Address of the connected device is
executed.

Overview
This function defines the user account (user ID, password) of FieldMate. By this
function, operation logs for each user ID can be recorded.
When users are not defined at all, it is taken as log in by the default user.
The user account (user ID, password) of FieldMate is effective only in FieldMate; thus
there is no relation between this user account and Windows user account.
User Accounts
Administrative user: User ID = Administrator, Password = FieldMate*
Default user: User ID = DefaultUser, Password = FieldMate*
* Logging in as an administrative user or default user after creating a user requires a

Figure F-5-17
F-79
F-5-2-2
The following describes the differences between the device DTM data in the FDT Project
and the DTM data in the device maintenance information in the database, and how to
assign the information.
Differences
y A FDT Project stores the Device DTM data, Comm DTM data, and Gateway DTM
data.
Also, device maintenance information stores only the Device DTM data.
y A FDT Project stores one set of DTM data for the device.
Also, device maintenance information can store up to five sets of device DATM
data.
Assigning
y You can assign the device maintenance information to the device DTM in the FDT
Project.
The device DTM data in the FDT Project and in the device maintenance information
are saved in different areas. Therefore, although the FDT Project is saved, the
device DTM data in the device maintenance information is not updated.
The device DTM data can be transferred between the FDT Project and device
maintenance information. For example, when the device DTM is selected in DTM
Works and saved to the database with Save to Database, the device DTM data in
the FDT Project is saved to the device maintenance information.
y You cannot assign different device DTMs in the FDT Project to the same device
maintenance information.
y The FDT Project is deleted, but the assigned device maintenance information is not
deleted.
The device DTM is deleted in DTM Works, but the assigned device maintenance
information is not deleted.
In both cases, only the relevant FDT Project item in "Device Info - Communication
Path" for Device Maintenance Info is deleted.
y Although the device maintenance information is deleted, the assigned FDT Project
is not deleted.
When DTM Works is running in the UDC mode, the device maintenance information
to which the FDT Project is assigned cannot be deleted, and also the device
information cannot be changed.

In either these cases, if the Device Maintenance Info window is opened afterward and
device tags and others are manually entered, the operation logs of Modify
Registration are recorded for all items that have been changed. In this case,
operation log of differences from the condition before change is recorded only when the
change is confirmed (saved). In other words, no operation log is recorded if an item(s) is
changed, but is returned to the original condition without confirmation.
Moreover, if a device detected using Segment Viewer is overwriting registered for the
maintenance information of the existing devices, the operation logs of Modify
Registration are recorded for all modified items such as device tags.
