Corrective maintenance
The network maintenance is based on the network supervision, using the OAM graphical interface.
For more information, refer to Alcatel-Lucent 9353 Management System - User Guide
(NN-20500-032).
It is also based on the identification and replacement of equipment faulty items, using the alarms.
The process is divided into the two following steps:
locating and identifying the equipment faulty items, using the information provided in
Alcatel-Lucent 9300 W-CDMA Product Family - Node B Alarms Reference Guide
(NN-20500-018)
replacing the equipment faulty items, using the replacement procedures given in this guide

Intervention restrictions
There may be a lapse of time between the identification of the alarm at the Network Service Platform
Graphic User Interface (GUI) and the time you arrive at the site.
You must be synchronized with the access network controller or system administrator (by telephone)
before an on-site intervention, in the following cases:
isolating procedures
rules concerning the premises (see instructions posted on site or in the building)
The personnel working on the cabinet must be authorized to work according to security standards.
23
physical layer channels which are necessary to synchronize the downlink and also to perform cell
selection/reselection and hand over preparation
measurement information to the RNC for radio resource management (hand over, power control)
The 9311 Macro ID provides up to eight E1/T1 (only T1 for UMTS 850) with Inversion Multiplexing
ATM (IMA) or Drop and Insert capability (fractional E1/T1). The 9311 Macro ID also supports
multi-PCM without IMA.
Uu interface (UMTS User interface): this interface is used between the Node B and the UE. It is
dependent on the technology used on the radio (for example, it can be W-CDMA or TD/CDMA).
Iub interface (Interface Node B): this interface lies between the RNC and the 9311 Macro ID. It
allows to connect RNCs.

CAUTION
Impact on the equipment
Beware that if you do not disconnect the power cable at the
interconnection module, there is a risk of destroying the
equipment, because of a connected -48 V cable hanging down.
First, remove the power cable at the interconnection module (do not remove the data cable).
Then, in front of the faulty MCPA/SCPA module, disconnect the power cable that is connected to
the "Power IN" connector.
7. Untighten the four MCPA/SCPA module front panel screws using the Phillips screwdriver.

CAUTION
Impact on the equipment
Before connecting the power cable to the MCPA/SCPA module
connector, check the correct side of the D-sub connector.
Make sure the small side of the MCPA/SCPA module connector
is connected to the small side of the MCPA/SCPA module cable

General note on the procedure
If you have to leave the site, because it is not possible to obtain
an MCA backup file quickly, do not change the faulty MCA and
disconnect the PCM cable from the CCM front panel.
CAUTION
Service interruption
Disconnection of the PCM cable is going to cause a service
interruption of the Node B. Please notify the OMC administrator.
Open the Node B door.
2. Three cases can occur:
Case 1: The CCM is not faulty and was not replaced. Go to step 3.
123
Case 3: During the first site intervention, the MCA backup file was necessary but impossible
to obtain quickly.
For this second intervention, make sure the coordinator sent you the most recent MCA
backup file. If you have a PC (TIL), store the file in the <default
path>\BTS@223.254.244\MCABackup folder. The number after the IC_APPROVED prefix
must be the same as the serial number of the Node B. Go to step 4.
Note: If the coordinator did not send you the MCA backup file and if it is impossible to
obtain it quickly, do not change the faulty MCA, disconnect the PCM cable from the CCM
front panel, leave the site and come back when you have the appropriate MCA backup file.
3. Apply the "Creating the MCA backup file" procedure defined in Alcatel-Lucent Node B Commissioning & Fault Management User Manual: TIL (NN-20500-019).
4. Locate the MCA module. (See legend 9 in 9311 Macro ID cabinet layout.)
5. Disconnect the three cables connected on the MCA front panel.
6. Undo the two fixing screws on the MCA front panel (1).
7. Remove the faulty MCA module.
8. Insert the new MCA module.
9. Tighten the two fixing screws on the MCA front panel.
10. Reconnect the three cables on the MCA front panel.
11. Apply the "Updating an empty MCA module" procedure defined in Alcatel-Lucent Node B Commissioning & Fault Management User Manual: TIL (NN-20500-019).
12. If the message is MCA update forbidden, call the next level of support.
13. Close the Node B door.
14. <Following step 2. Case 2> Before proceeding, ask the coordinator to send you the most recent
MCA backup file. When you receive the file :
a. Check the file name. The number after "IC_APPROVED_" prefix must be the same as the
serial number of the Node B.
b. Ask the coordinator to save the file. If you have a PC (TIL), save the file in the <Default
path>\BTS@223.254.254.244\MCABackup folder. The <Default path> is the path defined
when you executed the TIL procedure.
Note: If it is not possible to receive the file quickly, you should leave the site and come back
