With the goal of promoting better corporate governance practices in India, the
Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, on 1st October 2003 set up
National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NFCG) in partnership with
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)
and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). In the year 2010, stakeholders
in NFCG have been expanded with the inclusion of ICWAI and the National Stock
Exchange.

About Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS)


"Making a difference." SIMS - the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies - has

Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies is an accredited Centre for Corporate
Governance of the National Foundation for Corporate Governance, the only in
Pune and Western Maharashtra. Its singular focus is to enhance knowledge on
important aspects of good Corporate Governance norms amongst the senior
management and boards of companies through dissemination of appropriate programs
in association with experienced persons practicing in the field.
The contest is organized to apprise student managers with a fact that good internal
control structures are a prerequisite for good business, safeguarding the shareholders'
investment and the company's assets and why the companys management should
identify, select and adopt an appropriate control framework taking into account the
size and complexity of the business and apply that framework appropriately,
consistently and effectively.

Contest Format:
The contest would be in the form of submission of paper, followed by an event where
short listed participants may deliberate on the papers before a select audience. The
judges may be Institute faculty, Subject expert and NFCG Board of Trustees. The
event would be under the aegis of NFCG.

Prizes:
1st Prize: Rs 25,000/-

2nd Prize: Rs 15,000/Note: No entry fees

3rd Prize: Rs 10,000/-

Guidelines for Paper Presentation


Format Style:
MS Word Doc, Times New Roman, 12 point, Double-spaced, maximum words: 15002000. All submissions (including graphs, pie charts and tables) to be made in black and
white only.
Specific writing guidelines:
Title: Internal Control Framework A Formal Process for Identifying Significant
Business Risks.
Only Single Author acceptable: name, contact details on first page below the title,
affiliation.
Abstract (max 200 words): An abstract is a summary of the entire paper. It should
be accurate, coherent, and readable.
References: List the most relevant sources and make sure that the references
confirm to standard editorial style and be written last. Use APA style of referencing.
Overall writing guidelines:
Use a clear language.
Be alert to wordiness make every word count.
Full paper accurate, readable, 1500 2000 words only.
Structure your paper clearly.
Be alert to coherence.
Note:
1. This contest is only for students
2. Abstract to be submitted on or before 22nd & full paper by 26th February 15
3. Power point presentation: 5 6 slides for final presentation if selected
4. Presentation time: 15 minutes including questions and answers
5. Any number of students can participate from one institute but individually and not
in a group.
6. Each participant will be given a Certificate of Participation.
