Key Facts
The course represents a unique opportunity for graduate and professional engineer training within the UK, tackling
the shortage of suitably trained calibration and control engineers in the industry.
This course has been developed in conjunction with an industry steering panel, currently comprised of Jaguar Land
Rover, JCB, Ford, Delphi, ETAS and ATI.
This course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
Course Overview
You will develop the skills required to design and analyse components and systems within the automotive calibration and
control environment. You will also develop engineering skills including problem-solving abilities, practical competencies,
critical appraisal and communication skills.
The course introduces modern computer-based tools used within the industry and gives you the opportunity to apply them
to realistic problems.

Assessment
The learning resources will be presented in a number of ways. Some
materials may be accessed via the faculty website, some may be sent
to students as a resource pack, and some material may be available via
formal lectures, tutorials and hands-on sessions in purpose-built engine
laboratories, workshops and development vehicles. Learning support will be
provided through the use of tutorials and electronic communication methods.
Research, case studies and practical activities will play a significant part of
the learning process and assessment.
Entry Requirements
We would normally expect you to hold at least a Second Class Honours
degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline. However, we can also
consider your application without standard entry qualifications if you can
provide evidence of the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully
complete the course.
EMPLOYABILITY
Calibration Engineers are valued for their technical knowledge and ability
to solve engine control problems by the use of analytical techniques.Use of
integrated hardware-software packages for modelling, simulation, analysis,
control and design are now indispensible to this work.In order for the
industry to function efficiently and effectively, talented, ambitious calibration
engineers, versed in current technology, processes and their practical
application are keenly sought after.
