Do you have a desk/table that is large enough to allow freedom to position
the screen, keyboard, other equipment and paperwork?
Do you have a chair that is stable and does it have adjustment for seat
height, backrest height and angle?
Do you have enough legroom to allow a range of comfortable work positions
to be adopted?
Can you get into and out of the workstation easily?
Regarding your computer screen, is the text easy to read and is the image
stable and free from flicker?
Is the monitor free from reflections and glare?
Is the computer and screen free from dust and dirt?
Are the brightness and contrast controls properly adjusted to prevent
eyestrain?
Is the workstation set up to be ergonomically stress free (e.g. upper arms
approx. vertical, forearms approx. level, with the top of the monitor approx.
level with the eye. Foot rest used if needed to relieve pressure on thigh
behind knee) ?
Are you able to spot potential hazards in your work area?
Is the workstation free from tripping hazards (e.g. trailing cables)?
Is the workstation free from electrical hazards (e.g. frayed leads)?
Do you have sufficient and secure room/space for storage of files and/or
other documents?
Is the work area free from noise distractions? Is the area quiet enough to
hold a normal conversation?
Does the work area have natural lighting or if not, sufficient levels of artificial
lighting so that fine detail on the screen can be seen and read?
Do you have suitable fire detection arrangements?
Does the work area have a fire extinguisher or fire blanket, and are you
familiar with how to use it?
Is there a suitable arrangement for exit / escape in the event of a fire?
Does the work area have a first-aid box and are you familiar with the
contents?
Have you notified your mortgage provider or landlord that you will be working
from home?
Have you notified your home insurance provider that you will be working
from home?
Does the work area have acceptable levels of temperature and humidity and
can these be manually controlled?
Are you able to break up prolonged VDU work with breaks or other tasks?
Have you received information relating to VDUs and eyesight tests?
