Oliver Twist Chapters 1-11

Chapter 1.
21-22, Oliver was born in a workhouse. Oliver struggled to breath when
he was born.
23-24, Mother dies during childbirth.

Chapter 2.
25-26, brought up as a parish. Sent off to work on a farm where the
women running he place, Mrs. Mann, starve the children
27-28, Mr. bumble is introduced. Also known as the beadle. Alerts Mr.
Mann of an inspection so she can make it seem like everything is
running smoothly.
29-30,Mr.Bumble named Oliver Twist and takes pride in that rather
than Oliver the person.
31-32, Oliver is brought before a board of gentleman

33-34, Oliver asks for more food. He is then beaten and put in solitary
confinement for these actions.
35, 5 pounds is offered to any apprentice or man and women who
would take Oliver off there hands

Chapter 3.
36-37, during solitary confinement Oliver is denied the benefit of
exercise, the pleasures of society and the advantages of religious
consolation.
38-39, Mr. Gamfield is introduced. He is a chimney sweep. He has lost
four boys to the job.
40-41, Oliver is scared to go with Mr. Gamfield. Oliver cries at the
thought.
42-43, the man notices Olivers panic and doesnt sign him off with Mr.
Gamfield.
44, Oliver is lead back o the workhouse

Chapter 4.
45-46, Mr. Sowerberry is introduced. He is a tall, gaunt, large-jointed
man, attired in a black suit. Mr. Sowerberry is an undertaker.
47-48, Mr. Sowerberry wants Oliver and an apprentice and he is taken
before the gentleman for the final decision.

49-50, Oliver is now the apprentice of Mr. Sowerberry. He is taken to

the undertakers house.
51-52, Oliver is introduced to Mrs., Sowerberry and Charlotte. They
describe Oliver as very small.

Chapter 5.
53-54, Oliver is left alone in the shop where he feels chilled and
desolated.
55-56, Noah Claypool is introduced. He is known as charity boy.
57-58, Mrs. Sowerberry Suggests that Oliver will make a nice mute
because of his melancholy face.
59-60, Mr. Bumble comes in, angrily, to arrange a funeral for a girl who
died. Oliver keeps out of sight.
61-62, Oliver attends his first funeral. Man crying over dead girl who
was starved to death. They bury the girl. It is a shallow grave because
there are so many coffins inside
63, Mr., Sowerberry asks Oliver how he liked the funeral and Oliver
says that he does like it very much. Mr. Sowerberry says hell get used
to it over time.

Chapter 6
64-65,the months trial is over and Oliver is the official apprentice of
Mr. Sowerberry. Noah taunts Oliver during this month

66-67,Noah makes a cruel statement about Olivers mom and Oliver

attacks Noah. Noah uses the expression he is murdering me to get
Oliver into more trouble.
68-69, Charlotte, Mrs. Sowerberry and Noah beat Oliver and then lock
him in the basement. Noah is sent to go get Mr. bumble

Chapter 7
70-71, Noah runs to get Mr. Bumble with his eyes full of fake tears
saying Oliver tried to murder him
72-73, Mr. Bumble says its because Mrs. Sowerberry Over fed him and
thats why he was acting out.
74-75, Mrs. Sowerberry makes one last stab at Olivers mother who he
defends and calls her a liar. Mr. Sowerberry has to punish Oliver as his
wife is crying.
76, Oliver runs away. He runs into his childhood friend, Dick. Dick is
dying and Oliver Promises that he will see Dick again.

Chapter 8
77-78,

Oliver decides to travel to London

79-80, Oliver got food by begging on the streets on the way to London
81-82, Approached by a boy going by the nickname the artful
dodger who takes Oliver under his wing

83-84, Fagin is introduced. He is a Jew.

85, the boys welcome Oliver and offer him food, water and a place to
stay.
Chapter 9
86-87, Oliver awakes from a deep sleep to see the Jew cooking
breakfast. They talk about the benefits of capitol punishment
88-89, Charley bates is introduced. They talk about there work.
90-91, Unknown to Oliver the Artful dodger and his gang are pick
pocketers who steal things right out of peoples pockets to get rich.
92, they introduce this as a game to Oliver who is oblivious about what
is really going on.
Chapter 10
93-94, Oliver convinces Fagin to let him go to work with the boys.
The boys target an old man in a bookstall to steal his handkerchief.
95-96, Oliver soon realizes what is going on and runs.
97-98, everyone chases after Oliver and he is tackled and arrested by
the police.
Chapter 11
99-100, Oliver is brought before a trial, the old man believes him to be
innocent.
101-102, Mr. Fang is introduced. Mr. fang is a nasty person who doesnt
listen to anyone.

103-104, Mr. Fang is about to charge Oliver with three months hard
labor when the bookstall owner comes running in
105-106, the book stalls owner runs in and clears Olivers name.
Explains that a different boy stole the handkerchief and Oliver is
innocent. Oliver is discharged. After finding Oliver tossed into the mud
Mr.Borwnlow takes Oliver home with him.
