NARRATIVE TEXT
1. Queen of Arabia and Three Sheiks
Maura, who like to be thought of as the most beautiful and powerful queen of Arabia,
had many suitors. One by one she discarded them, until her list was reduced to just
three sheiks. The three sheiks were all equally young and handsome. They were also
rich and strong. It was very hard to decide who would be the best of them.

One evening, Maura disguised herself and went to the camp of the three sheiks. As
they were about to have dinner, Maura asked them for something to eat. The first
gave her some left over food. The second Sheik gave her some unappetizing camels
tail. The third sheik, who was called Hakim, offered her some of the most tender and
tasty meat. After dinner, the disguised queen left the sheiks camp.
The following day, the queen invited the three sheiks to dinner at her palace. She
ordered her servant to give each one exactly what they had given her the evening
before. Hakim, who received a plate of delicious meat, refused to eat it if the other
two sheiks could not share it with him.
This Sheik Hakims act finally convinced Queen Maura that he was the man for her.
Without question, Hakim is the most generous of you she announced her choice to
the sheiks. So it is Hakim I will marry.

2. The Smartest Animal

Once there was a farmer from Laos. Every morning and every evening, he ploughed
his field with his buffalo.
One day, a tiger saw the farmer and his buffalo working in the field. The tiger was
very surprised to see a big animal listening to a small animal. The tiger wanted to
know more about the big animal and the small animal.

After the man went home, the tiger spoke to the buffalo; you are so big and strong.
Why do you do everything the man tells you? The buffalo answered; oh, the man is
very intelligent.
The tiger asked; can you tell me how intelligent he is?. No, I cant tell you, said
the buffalo; but you can ask him
So the next day the tiger asked to the man; Can I see your intelligence?. But the
man answered; it at home. Can you go and get it? asked the tiger. Yes said the
man; but I am afraid you will kill my buffalo when I am gone. Can I tie you to a
tree?
After the man tied the tiger to the tree, he didnt go home to get his intelligence. He
took his plough and hit the tiger. Then he said; Now you know about my intelligence
even you havent seen it.
3. Blind Listening
A stupid man was sent by his father to sell salt. He first went to a mining area but
nobody there wanted his salt. When he returned home, his father told him that if he
had helped the miners to dig, they would have bought his salt.
The man next went to a house where a wedding was taking place. There he dug a
huge hole. This made the people angry and they chased him away. When he returned

home, his father told him that if he had beaten a drum and danced instead, the
people there would have bought salt from him.
Then, he went to a village where there happened to be a fire. Rushing to the place, he
started drumming and dancing, only to be thrown out by the people. His father told
him that he should have poured water on the fire instead, if he wanted to sell salt
there.
In the next place he went to, a couple were fighting with each other. The foolish man
poured a bucketful of water on them, again to be chased away. His father later told
him that he should have tried to settle the quarrel, in which case they would have
bought salt from him.
In the final event, the man saw two bulls fighting with each other. He stepped in to
stop the fight and was gored to death by angry bulls.
4. Money Isnt Everything
Donald, Daisy, Huey, Louie and Dewey all went to visit Uncle Scrooge one cold
autumn day. They knocked at the door and had to wait a long time before all the bolts
were undone. Even then Uncle Scrooge looked very suspicious, as if they were Beagle
Boys in disguise. The old miser was very surprised to see them all.

"Well, well. I suppose you'd better come in," he croaked at the door.
"Have you got a sore throat, Great- Uncle Scrooge?" chirped Louie.
"Don't be cheeky, Louie!" scolded Daisy.
"Stuff and nonsense!" croaked
Uncle Scrooge. "I have got a sore throat! The young lad's right."
"Sorry to hear that, Uncle," said Donald sympathetically. "Should I send Dewey out
to get you some cough drops?"
"No. They cost too much money nowadays," complained the old miser. "I'd rather
suffer the tickle in my throat."
"You don't seem very happy, Uncle Scrooge," soothed Daisy.
"Mind your own business!" snapped Uncle Scrooge.
"Poor old Great-Uncle Scrooge," chirped Dewey, who had jumped up to sit on his
Great-Uncle's knee.

"What do you meanpoor Great- Uncle Scrooge!" chuckled Uncle Scrooge. "I've got
more money than Fort Knox."
"What I meant," explained Dewey, "was that I had a sore throat too, and I hardly
have any money. But I bought some cough drops." With that Dewey pulled out his
box of cough drops and gave them to Uncle Scrooge.
"You can have my cough drops, Uncle," smiled Dewey, "because they cured my sore
throat."
Uncle Scrooge didn't know what to say. But one great big tear rolled down his face.
"Poor Great-Uncle Scrooge," echoed the triplets.
5. The Smartest Parrot
Once upon time, a man had a wonderful parrot. There was no other parrot like it. The
parrot could say every word, except one word. The parrot would not say the name of
the place where it was born. The name of the place was Catano.

The man felt excited having the smartest parrot but he could not understand why the
parrot would not say Catano. The man tried to teach the bird to say Catano however
the bird kept not saying the word.
At the first, the man was very nice to the bird but then he got very angry. You stupid
bird! pointed the man to the parrot. Why cant you say the word? Say Catano! Or I
will kill you the man said angrily. Although he tried hard to teach, the parrot would
not say it. Then the man got so angry and shouted to the bird over and over; Say
Catano or Ill kill you. The bird kept not to say the word of Catano.
One day after he had been trying so many times to make the bird say Catano, the
man really got very angry. He could not bear it. He picked the parrot and threw it
into the chicken house. There were four old chickens for next dinner You are as
stupid as the chickens. Just stay with them Said the man angrily. Then he continued
to humble; You know, I will cut the chicken for my meal. Next it will be your turn, I
will eat you too, stupid parrot. After that he left the chicken house.
The next day, the man came back to the chicken house. He opened the door and was
very surprised. He could not believe what he saw at the chicken house. There were
three death chickens on the floor. At the moment, the parrot was standing proudly
and screaming at the last old chicken; Say Catano or Ill kill you.

1. "Giant Wombat Skeleton Found"

The fossil of a car sized mega-wombat has been unearthed in northern Australia, scientists
said Wednesday
A relative of the modern-day wombat, the diprotodon skeleton was dug up in remote
Queensland last week and scientists believe it could shed valuable light on the species'
demise.
Along with Australia's other mega fauna,which included towering kangaroos and gigantic
crocodiles, diprotodon became extinct around the same time that indigenous tribes first
appeared. "There's been a lot of debate about what killed the mega fauna and it's quite a hot
topic in paleontology," Sue Hand, a professor on the team that made the discovery.
There could be some very interesting data to be extracted from the find.The animal was two
metres tall (6 feet,six inches) and 3.5 metres (11 feet, six inches) long. It was the size of
arhinoceros or a car, pigeon-toed and with a backward-facing pouch.
"They basically looked a lot like a wombat, a very big beefed-up wombat,much bigger than
obviously anything that's around today," said Hand.
2. "People Killed and Injured in Blast at Nightclub"

Three people have been killed and eight others injured in a hand grenade blast at a packed
village nightclub.
The explosion in Idvor, north of Belgrade, occurred at 2:30 a.m. Sunday (0030 GMT Sunday;
8:30 p.m. EDT Saturday) when a man activated the grenade at the entrance to the club. About
150 customers were inside at the time.
Such incidents aren't unusual in Serbia since the wars in the Balkans in the 1990s when many
hand grenades and firearms were taken home from warfronts.
Serbia's state TV says the man was angry because he and three of his friends were refused
entry by the club's security. He and one of his friends were killed in the blast.

on Wednesday evening, A 4.1 earthquake rattled parts of Southern California. Yorba Linda
area bomame the senter of the temblor. The earthquake occurred at 8:17 p.m. The quake was
felt over by people in a wide area of Orange counties and Los Angeles.
The earthquake was centered about two miles north of Yorba Linda and about 28 miles
southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The main earthquake was 4.1 magnitude and followed
by, a 2.4 magnitude quake after few minutes after the main quake. In that time thousands of
people, celebrities, media and other invited guests, were being gathered at Disney's California
Adventure for an event celebrating the final piece of a $1.1-billion expansion of the Anaheim
park.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department said that there were no immediate reports of
damage.

Monkey Forest gets Kalpataru Nomination
Ubud: The sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal in Ubud, Gianyar, has been nominated for
the Kalpataru Awards 2012 along with other 13 nominees across Indonesia.
Kalpataru Awards are the highest distinction for environment-related achievements by
individuals, businesses and places. The Awards are usually presented by President Susilo
Bambang Yudhoyono in conjunction with World Environment Day, which falls every June 5.
The Monkey Forest is owned by the village of Padangtegal and is currently under the
management of Padangtegal Wenara Wana Foundation. It is home to rare and endangered
flora and plants. It is also home to around 605 Balinese long-tailed macaques (Macaca
fascicularis).
Together with Udayana University, the foundation identified a number of rare plants in the
forest. There are around 115 species of plants, while some of the trees are considered sacred
and holy, only being used for spiritual and religious purposes.
Tas Diantoro Hadi, chairman of the Kalpataru Awards National Committee, said that the
Monkey Forest was the only candidate from Bali this year. We will categorize the Monkey
Forest as a forest conservation nominee, he said.
5. Teacher Killed in Car Accident
Wily (19) was very sad to know that his father Suharto (42) was killed bloody on Sudirman
Street, Natar, South Lampung, Lampung. His mother, Sarinah (40) which came a few
moments later was crying when she saw the body of her husband who is no longer alive in
Harapan Kita Hospital.
According to Andi (29), a witness in that place, Wednesday (07/01/2015) morning, Suharto
who is a teacher in Tegineneng, Pesawaran District, Lampung is a victim of hit and run in car
accident. I was sitting in the stalls. Suddenly I heard a truck that stopped all of sudden then I
saw a man was lying on the road. Afterwards, the truck was running he said.
Traffic Police officers who arrived on the Location at Pesawaran directly committed the
crime scene. Police also collected a number of witnesses to be asked for information. Until
now, the truck driver is still unknown.

1. Holiday

Last summer I had a nice holiday. I visited some great places. I went to the airport and will
fly to Cleveland. I spent three days there. I am glad to see some of the Cleveland Cavaliers
basketball game. Then I went to Hollywood.
Hollywood is a famous district in Los Angeles, California, United States. It has become
world famous as a center for the film industry. Four major film companies - Paramount,
Warner Bros, RKO and Columbia - had studios in Hollywood. I do not want to leave, but I
had to leave her. After that, I went to the city of New York. I visited the Statue of Liberty is
very beautiful.
I went from the bottom of Manhattan to the top of the crown. It was so amazing. The place
makes me feel at home, but I have to go home. Next time I'll get back to them very enjoyable.
2. Sunday The Terrible

Last week was a terrible day for me. My cousin and I were playing football in front of the
house to spend time with us. First, it was really fun until I kicked the ball too strong, so the
ball led me to the window and broke the window. When we want to escape, all of a sudden
we all heard a loud voice.
After that, the owner of the house came out of the fence, he yelled at us. We are very afraid
of her, but we do not know what to do. Then, one of my cousins told us to run, we all ran, and
suddenly we heard the sound of skin. Then we know that homeowners allow dogs to chase

us. And we were struggling to run as fast as her as we can. But, I fell down so the dog
managed to capture me and bit my leg. It really hurts me. Then the dog ran back into the
house.
My cousin took me to the doctor and told my parents. In the end, the doctor said that I was
exposed to rabies. Then I was hospitalized for one week more. That's a terrible day of the
week for me, may not happen to me again in his next week Sunday.
3. My trip to Borobudur Temple

Last week, I spent my vacation in Jogjakarta, the city is famous in Indonesia. I went to the
temple of Borobudur. My family and I went there in the morning we went to Borobudur
temple by private car family. I had prepared everything before we went to Jogja. While we
were driving, we get to see some beautiful scenery mountains, forests, and waterfalls as well
as cars pass by.
My family and I arrived at the Borobudur Temple at 4:30 pm. There, I saw a lot of tourists.
Borobudur temple is crowded on a holiday vacation. I can learn and practice speaking
English with a foreign tourist different language to me.
Dovi his name. He is very friendly. This is the first time I spoke English with foreign
tourists. We returned at 22:30 at night. It was a very interesting holiday for me and my family
was happy.
4. Morning, I go to school

My mom got me ready for school and then I had to wait for him to brush my hair and put
each piece in just the perfect position. I had to show her my shoes that I had cleaned the night
before by me and my school bag should be neatly placed on my shoulder before I could get
near the door in my room. Only after my mother was completely satisfied, whether I would
be allowed to rush out of my house.
I would leave home at 7 am at the point and make your way down the path. After walking
about 500 meters I could see the tower of my high school. Play will be full in the summer and
the noise would make me want to rush into the courtyard and into a good game of football
before the bell. That's how I now want to go to school.
5. Camping at Mount Ciremai

Last weekend, my friends and I went camping in the mountain Ciremai. We reached the
camping ground as we walked for about a half hour from the parking lot. We built the camp
next to the rocks and trees. It was getting dark and cold enveloped us, so we built a bonfire.
The next day, we spent our time observing plantation and insects while the girls were
preparing food for lunch together. In the afternoon we went to the river and catch a fish for
dinner. At night, we held a bonfire night. We sing, dance, read poetry, comedy, having fun,
playing magic tricks, and even some of us do stand up comedy and highly entertaining us all
to laugh. On Monday, we packed our bags and got ready to go home, respectively.
