METHODOLOGY FOR DPR PREPARATION FOR

WATER SUPPLY PROJECTS.

Step- I (Primary Visual survey/RECONNAISSANCE)
1. Primary Survey of the area and study of layout.
2. Determination of supply source based on viability and feasibility of supply.
3. Interaction and discussion with client regarding requirements, cost
constraints, facilities, components, technical detailing etc.,
4. Inception report
5. Report on Initial Findings

Step-II (Field survey)

1) Field survey using auto levels, total stations and DGPS by our survey group
incorporating.
a) Location co-ordinates of source
b) Location Co-ordinates of treatment storage and distribution facilities.
c) Alignment co-ordinates of gravity mains, raising mains and distribution
pathways
d) Topography determination.
e) Determination of hindrances and other facilities like roads, surface
water drainages, power lines, underground utilities etc.,
f) Determination of location of plant building, storage sheds, personnel
areas like canteens, restrooms etc.,
g) Optimisation of supply pathways to accommodate the above.

Step III (Primary scheme report)

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

Approximate / Proposed scheme layout.

Proposed equipment details.
Proposed facilities to be created.
Approximate cost involvement.
Proposed key plan.
Approximate daily requirement of water
Proposed justification of source quantity and additional facilities to be
created if any to ensure unhindered 24/7 supply
8. Primary study of source depletion and recuperation.
9. Primary study and proposal of water quality and treatment options.

Step-IV (Freezing of Plan)

1. Discussion of primary scheme report with client.
2. Scheme plan editing / correction based on interaction with client.

3. Power point presentation of water flow, key elements of design and other
technical details and discussion on the same.

Step V (Detailed project report)

1. Translation of survey data in to final facility, equipment, distribution and
monitory plan using appropriate software (Water gem 2013)
2. Manual confirmation of design using analytical methods.
3. Formation of key plan listing equipment / facility/ piping / monitoring
details.
4. Detailed cost estimates and worksheets.
5. Gravity and raising main detailed drawings indicating.
a) Supply facilities.
b) Distribution facilities.
c) Storage facilities.
d) Structured and Civil works.
e) Technical information.
6. Distribution system drawings.
7. Operations and maintenance costs and procedures.
8. Trouble shooting details.
9. Design details of the project components ie, structural, pipelines,
determination of choice of equipment, control valves, metering devices,
and user facilities etc.,
10.Feasibility study.
11.Power point presentation.
12.Freezing of scheme report.
13.Detailing of project Materials sourcing and acquisition plan.
14.Bill of quantities (BOQ)
15.Formation of tender documents (Optional on client)
