(Degrees of Comparison of Adjectives)

I-Objectives: At the end of the 60-minute lesson, the MRPS-GT VI pupils will be able to do the
following with at least
80% level of proficiency:
a. Determine the one-syllable word rule on the degrees of comparison;
b. Identify the degree of comparison used in the sentence;
c. Complete the sentence with the appropriate degrees of comparison of adjectives;
d. Point out the importance of adjectives in their daily lives.

IV- Procedure:

A. Preparation (Time Frame: 10 minutes)

1. Preliminary Activities (5 minutes)

Good morning class! I am Ms. Razel Fernandez and I will be your teacher for today.
Before we begin with our lesson, let us ask the guidance of our Almighty God and as we
enlighten our minds to completely understand todays lesson.

Class, I want you to arrange your chairs before you take your seats. I can see pieces
of papers under your chairs too. Kindly pick them up. You may now take your seats.

Is there any absent from the group? I will divide the class into three. Count off from
one to three. Group one will stay here, group two will stay there, group three will stay at
the back of group one. Is that clear?

2. Motivation (5 minutes)

Class, tell me what do you see on the blackboard? Yes. Its a chart, an incentive
chart. Who can read the title of the incentive chart? Very good! Why do you think is there a
need for us to use an incentive chart? Good! This will help you monitor your performance
along the class discussion. Each group will race to fill the garden with flowers first. For every
correct answer your group will earn one flower. You can earn points too if you will exhibit
pleasant behaviors and lose points if you are disobeying the classroom rules.

B. Presentation (25 minutes)


1. Activity (5 minutes)
Class, I will be showing you a short video clip. Please listen and watch attentively
while the video is played. Later on, I will throw questions to see how much you have
absorbed while watching the clip. You ready? Good! (Video clip duration: 3 minutes)
Did you enjoy watching the clip? Were you able to find interesting points in the
video? Whose group can correctly answer most of the questions!
Guide Questions:
1. What is the video all about?
2. What is being unpacked in the clip?
3. What are adjectives by the way?
3. What are some of the given examples of adjectives?
2. Analysis (5 minutes)
Take a look at the words flashed on the screen. These adjectives were extracted
from the clip. I want you to focus on the given examples.

Let us try to put these words in a sentence. Ace has a small bag. Now let us try to
compare Aces bag with Leas.
Leas bag is smaller than Ace. Very good! Now, Ace and Lea noticed that Carissa owns a
bag which is way smaller than theirs. How should we state it? Carissa has the smallest bag
of all.

Based on the given examples on adjectives, what have you noticed? Very good!
There are comparisons. And when we say comparisons we are talking of what? Yes! We are
talking about the degrees of comparison of adjectives.

3. Abstraction (5 minutes)

4. Application (5-7 minutes)


Now it is time to test your knowledge. Each group will send one representative to get the
handouts. For five minutes, I want you to work silently on your tasks. Start working with
your group now.
