since our opening in Kota Kinabalu in 2013. The
Specialized Duathlon this year will be an exci ng and
drama c event which will be etched in Sabah's spor ng history.
Our Specialized Sponsored Ironman Choo Ling Er from Singapore
ew all the way to KK and to meet the par cipants for a clinic
recently. It is our hope that many Sabahans will follow suit and
develop their own passion in sports and adapt a compe ve

MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

elcome all par cipants and to those coming from far,


welcome to Sabah!

This is our second Duathlon event held with an extended distance


'rewarded' to all par cipants. This year we have a tle sponsor in
the name of Specialized bikes which we are very fortunate to
partner. Organizing events such as this has always been
challenging but if you have an equally passionate client that
shares the same values in compe ng and pushing the limits, we
are excited to pursue.
Thank you to all those involved in suppor ng our small team in
realizing our dream of nurturing mul sports athletes in our
hometown a reality. They are City Hall, The Police, Kinabalu
Running Club, Universi Malaysia Sabah, Sabah Amateur Radio
Society, sponsors, the medic team and all volunteers.

Race Numbering
The following will apply to all participants:

Race Bib number will be issued in your race kit along with safety pins. The race bib number
must be afxed to the front (Chest Area) of your running or biking jersey. You may also use race
belt if you wish, but please do remember to have the race number in front and visible during the
run & bike leg.
NOTE: The race marshalls reserve the right to remove participants from the race instantly if the
Race bib number is not attached on the shirt
Bike Number Must be afxed to the bicycle seat post before check-in at the transition area on
Sunday

RULES & REGULATIONS


GENERAL

All participants MUST abide by the rules and regulations of the event organizer.

The organizer reserves the right to amend the rules and regulations as it deemed t without prior
notication.

All participants are required to complete the race registration process with accurate and correct
information.

Once the registration process is completed, there will be no refund for those who are unable to show up for
the race. Race registration is only conrmed upon FULL PAYMENT is made.

Participants who partake in this event will compete in this event at their own risk. With all due safety and
reasonable precautions undertaken by the organizer, participants will not hold the organizer responsible
and liable for any injuries, loss and/or damage to property, whether personal or otherwise and howso ever
arising.

All participants must sign the waiver on the manual registration form before they are allowed to compete.

The organizer reserves the right to use any photographs or recording of the participants for any
commercial or advertising purposes.

All Participants must display their assigned race number clearly at all times

No mp3 or cell phones are permitted during the cycling leg.


Running Segment

All Runners must wear the race bib provided by the organizer during the race.

All runners are required to wear proper running attire and footwear during the run.

No support crew is allowed, any unfair assistance receive during the run will result in immediate
disqualication.

No one is permitted on the run course except for runners and ofcials.
Cycling Segment

Any bicycle in good working order will be allowed to race.

The bicycle must be worthy and in safe and good condition.

This include mountain bike, road racing bicycle as well as triathlon or time-trial bicycle.

Aerobars are encouraged, however for safety reason, cyclists are reminded to exercise good common
sense when using aerobars.

Cyclists are reminded to keep their bicycle at their designated bike race or area when not cycling.

Cyclists must wear helmet during the entire cycling course, any cyclist without a helmet will result in instant
disqualication.

Helmet must be securely fastened before leaving the transition area.

Cyclist may run or walk with their bicycle.

Cyclist are reminded to observe trafc rules at all times and to follow directions by race marshalls

Cyclist are to perform their own repair in case of breakdown. Cyclist cannot receive outside assistance
either from a fellow cyclist or support crew, doing so will result in instant disqualication.

No support vehicle or support crew is allowed on the bike route.

NO TEAM CAR or private vehicle is allowed on the cycling route

Only ORGANIZERS or OFFICIAL vehicle will be allowed to stop & provide assistance along the cycling
route

THE OFFICIAL SUPPORT VEHICLE WILL PROVIDE THE LABOR ASSISTANCE ONLY; CYCLIST MUST
PROVIDE OWN SPARES FOR SUPPORT CREW TO CHANGE

BIKE MECHANICAL SUPPORT PROVIDED IS ON A GOODWILL, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BEST
EFFORT BASIS.

BIKE MECHANICAL SUPPORT CANNOT AND WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR WIN OR LOSSES
INCURRED BY CYCLIST

CYCLIST MUST FINISH IN HIS OR HER OWN BICYCLE

CYCLIST MAY CONTINUE WITH THE RACE BY PUSHING OR CARRYING A BROKEN BICYCLE

CYCLIST WHO LOAN HIS OR HER OWN BIKE TO ANOTHER CYCLIST WOULD MEAN INSTANT
DISQUALIFICATION FOR BOTH CYCLISTS
Relay Team

Each relay team must consist of exactly 2 (two) members, one runner and one cyclist.

Relay disciplines are non-transferrable nor swappable.


Transition Area

All participants are required to place their bicycles at the designated bicycle rack with their race numbers
on their bicycle

NO CYCLING IS ALLOWED INSIDE THE TRANSITION AREA AT ANYTIME, ANY CYCLIST SEEN DOING
SO WILL BE GIVEN A 5 MINUTE PENALTY
