DAILY NUGGETS FOR JOYFUL LIVING

Thursday, March 5, 2015
And Isaac spake untohis father, and saidbehold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt
offering? And Abraham saidGod will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offeringAnd Abraham stretched forth
his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the LORD called (interrupted)out of heaven, and
saidlay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God,
seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. Genesis 22:1-18 KJV
GOD SOMETIMES INTERRUPTS MEN
The word INTERRUPTION is a very interesting word. Often, people are terrified by it. Others feel
offended when interrupted. Still, others are so grateful that they were interrupted at a period they were about to
make expensive mistakes. Such was the case with David after Abigail pleaded over the foolishness of her husband,
Nabal. 1 Samuel 25:23-33 recorded: And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent
thee this day to meet me: And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me (interrupted me)
this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand. In todays nugget, we shall
consider the benefits of interruption. Interruption is not always something bad but the abuse of it (negative
interruption) is what makes the whole phenomenon look bad. In Nehemiah 2:19, we see negative interruption at
work, But when SanballatTobiahGeshemheard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, what is
this thing that ye do? Will ye rebel against the king? Interruption is to cause or make a break in the continuity or
uniformity of (a course, process, condition, etc.) It is to break off or cause to cease, as in the middle of something.
It is to stop (a person or a process) in the midst of doing something, or saying something, especially by interjected
remarks. In the two cases cited, first, David was interrupted by Abigail and Davids anger was diffused (positive
interruption) and he did not kill in anger as he initially planned. Secondly, Sanballat and his crew, tried to interrupt
Nehemiah and his colleagues from building the wall of Jerusalem but Nehemiah would not succumb to him (negative
interruption) but went ahead to do his God assigned venture while trusting in God for ultimate success.
God often interrupts His children so that they dont commit hideous acts. A Christian must be flexible in
his approach to life. Remember that only those that are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God; Romans 8:14.
The Spirit of God can lead you to change your mind on things that you have evidently heard from God before.
Abraham is a practical example. You dont have to be overly rigid in your heart to what you think God would have
you do. If that was the case with Abraham, he would have killed Isaac. The life of a Christian must be flexible and
thats why there is the leading of the Spirit of God. The workings of God are very dynamic. God does not work on
the principle of: As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall beAmen? Oh no, God is not static. God often
changes His mind to enrich and bless His people. Genesis 22 is a typical Scriptural example of an interruption that
was necessary to save a life. God had told Abraham to go and sacrifice Isaac. Abraham knew it was God who told
him to kill Isaac. Abrahams closeness to God was unparalleled that he would unquestionably obey God no matter the
demand. Then God interrupted Abraham at the very time he was to kill Isaac and told him not to kill the boy again.
Abraham obeyed! That was absolute obedience to God who earlier told him to kill Isaac. Abraham was a friend of
God indeed. He did not bind and loose refusing to obey on the ground that he was confused, and not sure if it was
God still talking to him. He was averred in his belief that God was leading him. He allowed God to be God to him.
That is the heart that Christians are supposed to posses. We must allow Gods interruption to our lives even if it

will cost us dearly. God interrupted Jobs live to prove to the devil that Job was worthy of being His son. Job 1:6-8
is a good record of this, Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD,
and Satan came also among themAnd the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there
is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? From Gods
boasting on Job came a verity of sufferings that Job went through fro then onward but the end paid him off.
Beloved, are you experiencing some form of interruption in life at the moment? Does it involve your career?
Or does it affect your relationship? Was your life going on fine until the interruption, and you lost everything to
the interruption, and began to wonder how you got there and why? Dont worry! It happened to Elijah, the man of
God. He was having great moments of his life; eating from ravens and drinking from the brook Cherith until the
interruption came. God had to interrupt him in order to remove him from there for an assignment in Zarephath.
Friend, always know that every disappointment is a blessing in disguise. Not all interruption is bad, you know! God
can interrupt you to take you higher. Now, is the interruption experience very painful and costly to you that you
feel you cannot bear it anymore? Hear me out my friend; it will pay off at the end. If it paid off for Abraham; if it
paid off for David; and if it paid off for Job; it will surely pay off for you! And no matter what yours have been
like, it will definitely pay off for you. Do you know that you need to sometimes interrupt yourself in order to take a
stalk of your Christian life and commitment to God? You have to cultivate the habit of interrupting yourself once in
a while so that you can also appreciate any interruption that may come from God to you. And dont you dare forget
that at the end, it will always pay off if you hold your life in expectation of Joyful Living Experience in Gods
presence as He interrupts you daily. Beloved, you must learn to periodically interrupt your life for His sake. Amen?
