ACCOMMODATION

Adapting to life in a new place can be both exciting and

challenging. For international students, especially those
who come to Beijing University of Technology for the first
time, the universitys international student dormitory
might be a good place for you to settle in quickly.
The international student dormitory locates opposite
to the universitys west entrance, which is 3-minute
away by walk. The dormitory provides self-catered
accommodation, large and small single rooms, double
rooms and triple rooms, some of which are en-suite.
Altogether there are 195 rooms accommodating 375
students. If you are not good at cooking, dont worry,
because you will have plenty of choices from student
dining halls on campus.
Each room is equipped with internet (wired and Wi-Fi),
TV, telephone, air-conditioner, and some of the rooms
are cleaned regularly. We offer linen service, so you

dont need to bring linen and other bed clothes with

you, which might occupy a large portion of your luggage.
In the public area, there is a free internet bar, reading
room, multifunction room, student lobby, gym, kitchen
and launderette. Besides, on each floor there are shared
showers and toilets. The dormitory reception offers
international phone call service and fax.
According to Chinese laws and regulations, international
student dormitory only opens to the university s
registered international students. Friends and families of
the students during their visit are recommended to stay in
the university hotel or other hotels in the neighborhood.
Dormitory residents must follow related regulations.
Because of a limited number of rooms, we highly suggest
students to book in advance online at www.studyatbjut.

ACCOMMODATION

I am living in the international student dormitory of the university which is located in front of the university campus in
5- minute walk and connected to it by a walking bridge .During breaks we can easily come home for meals and be back
within time.
The dormitory is provided with all kinds of living facilities such has shared kitchens, dining room, laundry facilities
(washing machines and dryers), fitness centre with a variety of aerobic and weightlifting machines, study and computer
room. The sharing kitchens are equipped with electric hot plates and oven, a big fridge, a small locker where you can
keep your dishes and cooking utensils. Good points about the dormitory are its position near cafeterias, super market,
bank, post office, hospital and bus stop.
The management here is also very keen about safety and well-being of students that is why they have a duty schedule
of one teacher per night staying in the dormitory with the regular staff.
More than 280 students are living in the dormitory from all over the world; it makes a multicultural environment
and provides an opportunity to see the world with a whole new perspective. When I first arrived here, I was worried
because I knew absolutely no one but soon I find out that there were many new students like me, going through the
same experience at the same time that is why everyone was really friendly and it was easy to make friends with same
interests.
There are a lot of activities to do. I usually play badminton with my friends inside the dormitory in open air but
sometimes we also play it inside Olympic stadium of the university which was built for 2008 Olympic Games and it is
great that we can visit and play inside it, any time we like. For the celebration of special events such as Eid festivals,
Christmas and birthday parties, we have multifunctional room. In these special occasions we all friends cook together
and having lots of fun.
As an international student at BJUT, I am strongly convinced that the uniqueness and unlimited opportunities that
I got here are precious. It gave me a lot of unforgettable memories and memorable experiences. The management
and friends all together create a sense of family and provide an enjoyable cross-cultural living experience, making the
International dormitory feel like a truly international home.

How to find us

Beijing, the capital of China, is an international mega-city with a population of over

20,000,000. It is not easy, even for locals, to quickly locate a place. But if you know the
citys road structure, you will have a better idea.
Starting from Tiananmen Square, the citys geographic and Chinas political center, the city
is expanded out to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th ring roads. Beijing University of Technology
is located between the 3rd and 4th ring road, southeast of Beijing. The university is 30km
away from the capital airport, 10 km away from Tiananmen Square, 3km away from the
nearest subway station (Jinsong station, line 10). In 2015, Beijing University of Technology
station of subway line 14 will be put into use.
