VPN Client Software Installation

To install the VPN Client software, you must first register your activation key on the
SonicWALL website at http://www.mysonicwall.com. Follow the instructions below to
activate your VPN client.
1. Log into your user account, and select the SonicWALL appliance to activate the VPN
Client. Click Activate next to VPN Client Upgrade in the list of Applicable Services.

2. Type the Activation Key in the Activation Key field, and click Submit.

3. Write down the License Key to use while installing the client software. Click Click here
to download the VPN Client software. You can also click on a link to download VPN
documentation.

Downloading the VPN Client Software

1. Click on the link to download the VPN client software. From the SonicWALL Download
Center, select your SonicWALL model from the Product menu, English from the
Language menu, and I agree with the above statements from the Do you agree
with the above statements? menu. Click Submit and download the VPN Client
software.
2. Click on the VPN Client hyperlink to download the client software.

Installing the VPN Client Software

To install the VPN Client software, locate the VPN executable file in the directory that it was
downloaded. Then follow these steps:
1. Double-click on the file to open it.
2. Locate the steup.exe file and double-click on it to begin the installation.
3. Type in the 16-digit Activation Key from the Activation web page and click OK. The
VPN Client Installation Wizard begins the installation.

4. Click Next to continue installing the software. The Software License Agreement
dialogue box appears next.

5. After reading the agreement, you must select Yes to continue the installation. If you
select No, the installation is cancelled.
6. Next, select the type of installation from the three choices in the Select Components
dialogue box: Typical, Express, or Custom. The Typical installation is sufficient for
most users.

7. If you select the Express installation, you do not need to select files to begin the
installation. Selecting Custom allows you to choose the specific files to be installed for
the VPN Client.

8. Click Next to begin copying files to your computer.

9. After copying is complete, the InstallWizard Setup Complete dialogue box is
displayed and has the option of restarting the computer now or at a later time. Select
Yes to restart now, and No to restart later.

After installing the VPN Client software, you can use the following documents to configure
your client and your SonicWALL:

Group VPN Configuration - describes set up and configuration of multiple VPN

clients using IKE (Internet Key Exchange).
IKE Configuration - describes the set up and configuration of a VPN client and a
SonicWALL using firmware version 5.1.1.0.
Manual Key Configuration - describes the set up and configuration of a VPN client
and a SonicWALL using Manual Key Exchange.
