Hixon Alarm System for Major Hazard Installation (MHI) Facility

A) Alarm System Installed at MHI Facility
Sirens:Few sirens will be installed on-site and off-site the facility. On-site sirens used to alert the
workers while off-site sirens used to inform the nearby community. Sirens will be
triggered immediately upon confirmation of emergency by the Emergency Response
Team (ERT) Leader or any authorised person to avoid false alarm which might potentially
create chaos if missed-used. Once siren is triggered, the local authority will be
immediately notified.
Pre-recorded Announcement:Pre-recorded announcement is used to avoid miscommunication during emergency due to
panic attack, which it will be immediately triggered with siren system. It is used to
explain types of emergency and its level. Short and precise announcement is important so
that it can be understood by on-site workers and surrounding community. This prerecorded announcement also will guide everyone on the evacuations steps whenever
necessary.
B) Extended Alarming System
Wireless Emergency Alert:With collaboration from telecommunication company and fire and rescue station,
message will be sent automatically to nearby community which comprise of emergency
situation and lead community the evacuations steps if needed. It will show the type and
time of the alert, any action you should take, and the agency issuing the alert. The levels
of emergency are differentiated with colour coding. The message will be no more than 90
characters and will include a special tone and vibration, both repeated twice.
Reachable Personnel and Alarm Facilities to Nearby Community:MHI facility will be equipped with helicopter (equipped with safe gaseous bomb facilities
and equipment) located at most safest place inside the facility. Upon emergency which
might affect the community, authorised person will use this facility to alert the nearby
community especially at night. Awareness education program will be provided to the
communities so that they will understand the situation whenever the smell the gas (safe
chemicals types and quantity which is just enough as a wake-up call)
Visible sticker during day and night:This type of sticker is invented to evacuate the special groups of community like elderly,
children, disabled person, pregnant ladies and etc. However, community must cooperate
with the agency to register this special groups (using online system) so that this specially
design sticker (highly durable with weather changes) will be place at most visible location
at their house like on roof top. They will be evacuated with help of MHI helicopter.
