Provision of Health & Safety Information

The Head of Department has overall responsibility for the provision of safety information, but in practice this will
be available through the DSO, see also the noticeboard in the corridor outside Room 302.

4:2 Instruction
All new workers will undertake safety induction training before commencing work in the Department. This will
be carried out by the Laboratory Safety Supervisor or their appointee. The LSS must be informed when a new
worker, guest worker, postgraduate or project student is about to start work in their area. The induction
form must also be completed.

Safety and health levy

The Safety and health levy is a fee charged by the Queensland Government for safety and health
services provided by the State to mining, quarrying and explosives operations across
Queensland. The levy is charged to industry on a cost recovery basis. All mining, quarrying and
explosives operations that are regulated by the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999,
the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Explosives Act 1999 are required
to supply information to the department within 20 days of the end of each quarter. In accordance
with the legislation this information is to be supplied on the Queensland Mining and Quarrying
Industry Census Form or the Queensland Explosives and Fireworks Industry Census Form.

incentive payments to eligible professionals, eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals
(CAHs) as they adopt, implement, upgrade or demonstrate meaningful use of certified

arise from incorrect installation, reinstallation, deterioration or any other circumstances. The

network being killed or seriously injured. The users of a road include pedestrians, cyclists, motorists,
their passengers, and passengers of on-road public transport, mainlybuses and trams. Best-practice
road safety strategies focus upon the prevention of serious injury and death crashes in spite of
human fallibility[1] (which is contrasted with the old road safety paradigm of simply reducing crashes
assuming road user compliance with traffic regulations). Safe road design is now about providing a
road environment which ensures vehicle speeds will be within the human tolerances for serious
injury and death wherever conflict points exist. Furthermore, the highest possible degree of safety
shall be ensured when transporting goods by road. It is of vital importance to monitor and validate
the road transportation safety, including comprehensive checks on drivers, vehicles and safety
