"INNOVATION IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING" TRAINING TUTORIAL

The "Innovation in English Language Teaching" Training aims to instruct 10 Access teachers and
teacher assistants on modern trends and methodology in teaching English as a Foreign Language
(EFLT), using content-/project-/task-based instruction through a learner-centered, activity-based,
communicative approaches.
This way, each of the participants will go through a
three stage instructional process: face to face
trainings, online instruction and mentoring,
working independently online with the instructor,
and later on through independent practice to apply
your knowledge, while teaching Access students,
develop projects/lesson plans, using up-to-date
teaching approaches and share your acquired
experience with other Access teachers and teachers
from your school.
The trainers and mentors will provide value-added content in the areas of technology and
information sharing.
The "Innovation in English Language Teaching training comprises the following 8 sections, which

1. TRAINING DESCRIPTION:

To follow the life-long learning philosophy,


the "Innovation in English Language
Teaching" Access teacher training will
strengthen the status of the 21st Century
Educator!!!

The "Innovation in English


Language Teaching" Training is
financially supported by
US Embassy to Moldova

The training will support a blended learning and will comprise


6 -week modules, accordingly:

This Teacher Training major goal


is to foster the
professional development of 10
novice Access teachers and
teacher assistants from 5 regions
of the country,
such as Ribnita, Grigoripol,
Causeni, Hincesti, and Edinet, for
an improved quality-based Access
students' instruction.
This way, both Access teachers
and teacher assistants will be
invited to discuss and express their
opinions on the up-todate EFLT methodological topics,
referring to
integrating technology, media and
interactive activities into Access
teaching-learningevaluation process.

The participants will have to work individually and


collaboratively with their Mentors on the Assignments tasks.

Discussion Forum is a virtual social space where Access


instructors will be chatting with each other on particular
Assignment topics, following 3 rules:
a. once a week ( by Wednesday) an appointed
Conversation Moderator will start a Conversation
Thread (discussion) on the instructive topic
presented in the same week. As a Conversation
Moderator , you will have the role to coordinate
and monitor the entire discussion, replying to
comments the other participants will post as a
response to your prompt/question. Your question
should generate an interesting discussion among
your colleagues, who will share their teaching
experience with you. The prompt should
include a general statement based on Assignment
topic and a question you would like your
colleagues to express their opinion.

Discussion Prompt Sample:

Planning a lesson involves the


teachers skill in the selection of the
material, the techniques or method or
approaches to be employed, the
activities to be taken up, and in getting
the pupils involved in the successful
completion of the lesson assignments.
It is a complete preview of the
difficulties likely to occur in the course
of the lesson, of introducing new
teaching approaches and strategies
while using various updated
technologies. What difficulties do you
meet in planning a lesson/activity for
Access classes, and what you usually
do to overcome each of them?

b. once a week (by Sunday) an appointed Conversation Wrapper will end up a Conversation thread,
making general conclusion of the colleagues' shared opinions as answers to the moderator's prompt.
c. each week by Saturday each participants will have to reply to Conversation Moderators prompt, and
comment on 3 prompt-comments of their colleagues.
The Convesation among all participants on each Assignment will be monitored on the following

During "Innovation in English Language


Teaching" Training the participants will be
mentored online by a group of professionals,
current experts in education, language didactics,
and extracurricular activities through an
individualized approach.
This way, each one will receive online support
while realizing Assignments' tasks. You will be
chatting with your mentor through Ask Your
Mentor for Advice (Online Mentorship
Forum), and your comments/answers to each
Assignment tasks.
