What is the Hungarian
residency programme?

How do you have to apply for the simplified

residency permit?

In January 2013 legislation came into force in

Hungary whereby it became easier for foreigners
who buy Hungarian Government Bonds to settle
in Hungary and obtain
residency permits. The
essence of the programme
is that foreign citizens from
outside the EU who invest
a minimum of 300 000
EUR in government bonds
receive
a
Hungarian
residency permit through
a simplified and expedited
procedure. The rules are

simple and clear, and the
programme is available to
anyone prepared and able to buy the required
amount of Hungarian government bonds and
keep them for at least 5 years.

The Financial Commission of the Hungarian

Parliament only granted the right to deal with the
simplified residency permit to a number of legal
firms. LAVECO Ltd. has the right to hold meetings

Who can participate in the Hungarian

residency programme?
There are no restrictions on nationality, and
provided that the applicant doesnt have a
criminal record and hasnt carried out any crimes
in Hungary, then the Hungarian authorities will
approve the application within a few weeks and
the residency permit will be issued. In this case, the
applicant can also apply for residency permits for
his/her spouse and underage children within the
expedited system.

How much does the acquisition of a

Hungarian residence permit cost?
Investment: the purchase of 300 000 EUR of
government bonds through an authorised legal
firm for a minimum of 5 years. This is a special type
of bond which pays no interest.
