DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW COVENANTS

as part of this course we need to discuss some of the pentecostal theology

that makes our movement powerful. There is a different covenant and a
different mindset between the Old Testament our relationship with God was a
servant to master. The anointing that was given an imparted or a appointed
anointing. This was for one a person to accomplish a ministry or purpose for
God. In the Old Testament people look for God to give them an external
anointing.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DELEGATED AUTHORITY AND

INHERITED AUTHORITY
John 15:15, Christ tells the people around them that God no longer considers
them servant but friends. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant
knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things
that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. In the New
Testament something happened that changed everything: the death,
resurrection, and accession of Jesus, we became reconcile to God. And in fact
gave us the ministry of being -workers building the Kingdom of Heaven. 2
Corinthian 5: 17-20, 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ,
and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in
Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto
them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then
we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we
pray you in Christs stead, be ye reconciled to God. So we see we are given
ministry of reconciliation through the grand commission. God put his spirit in
our lives and made our spirit alive. Before we were spiritually dead people
and now we have been born again. Remember all of us are tri-parte people.
We are a spirit and have a soul, and live in a physical body. When we
accepted Jesus into our lives our heart changed and we became baby
Christians. Ephesians 4:30, And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby
ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. When you accepted Christ into
your life the Holy Spirit took up continual residence in your body and now
has sealed until the day of redemption. No one can give you more of the Holy
spirit than you received the moment of your conversion. In the New
Testament we need to look at the tenses of what God has done for us. For

Example look at the Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly
places in Christ: this is a perfect example of looking for the tenses of this
verb. God has already blessed you with every and all blessings in Jesus Christ
of an spiritual nature. When the Holy Spirit took residence in you He brought
everything you needed in the spirit by the spirit of adoption. Look at 2 Peter
1:3, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain
unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to
glory and virtue: 1 Corinthians 1:7, So that ye come behind in no gift;
waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1 Corinthian 6:19-20, 19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in
you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought
with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are
Gods. Romans 12:1-2, 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies
of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto
God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what
is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Turn to 1 John 2:27, But the anointing which ye have received of him
abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same
anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it
hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. This anointing abides, lives
continually in us unless we walk away from the :ord. The Spirit does not
come and go. There are many people who want to sell the anointing they
cannot. No one can give you more of the Holy spirit than you have right now.
The best comparison I can think of is a pregnant woman. You cannot make
her more pregnant. The baby continues to grow until its birth.
It is the same for us we need to work with the Holy Spirit to grow the things
of the Spirit in your and my life. The problem is many in the church get
salvation and just sits there and they think if I go to someone who is strong
in the spirit and they pray for me they can give me more of the spirit. If that
assumption were true you would not read the bible or go to the service, fast,
or even pray. You would just go to conferences and have people pray for you
to receive more of the spirit. Those people never grow never mature.
Others can release revelation, petition on your behalf; they can even pray
something that they have seen in the spirit. But no one can give you more of
the Holy Spirit. The anointing lives inside of us and we have to stop looking

for something externally to change us or our ministries or empower us. The

same spirit Jesus put into your and my life.
You cannot get more of the Holy Spirit than what you have. The struggle is to
get less of you so more of Jesus can control your life.
So why is this important for the ministry we are going to start?
1)
We already have everything we need to move in the spirit by faith.
There is no other spiritual level we need to attain to do ministry and if you
feel that way you will never do anything by faith.
2)

1 John 4:17, in this world we are like Jesus

3)
John 14:12-13, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he
do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my
name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Christ told
us that he expects us to greater things than he even has done.
4)
Mark 16:17-18, And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my
name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They
shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt
them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. These are the
tools of ministry that Jesus has decreed our right and responsibility to use to
set people free. Notice in scripture the Holy Spirit is called to help, enable not
to do the work. These are ministries Jesus gives us. In fact we are not told to
chase signs and wonders but they should follow us as we move in faith. God
does not command us to do things he knows we cannot do, that would not
be a just loving God.
5)
We have many who have ministries in the body of Christ, but how
many move in the power of God? 1 Corinthians 4:20, for the kingdom of God
does not consist of word but in power.
