Crime stats for February 2015

This month has seen a reduction of offending in some areas but we
had a spike in Aotea because of some offenders targeting vehicles on
one particular night.
So apart from the one night, things are looking good and we hope the
trend continues.
Over the last couple of week I have had some good inquires about
Neighbourhood Support and general crime prevention advice.
This has been pleasing because it shows that our community is aware
of crime precautions and are looking after one another.
On the 1st of March I spent a few hours at the Aotea community day;
a few people came and chatted but not as many as I would have hoped.
Well I will keep it short this month so everyone has a good month and
you will hear from me next month.

When to call Crimestoppers

Crimestoppers is an independent charity helping police and other law enforcement agencies to find
criminals and solve crimes.
Crimestoppers provides a safe, secure and anonymous way for people to report crime.
Information is passed on to the police in such a way that they do not know who provided it. It's a simple and
secure way of bringing criminals to justice without anybody knowing who the information came from.

When to call Crimestoppers

You know about a crime that has happened

You suspect a crime is being planned
You have information about something you think is illegal
You don't want to talk directly to the authorities

Call Crimestoppers when you are afraid to come forward and report details of a crime because of the potential
repercussions of doing so.

How to call Crimestoppers

People who want to pass on information about crime anonymously can do so by

calling the national 24/7 phone line 0800 555 111

sending information via the Crimestoppers Contact Crimestoppers Online form

You don't have to give your name or any personal information and calls cannot be traced. Every call is treated
with absolute anonymity so that nobody will ever know the identity of the caller except you, the caller.

When you need immediate help

You should call 111 when you need immediate help with a life threatening or time critical emergency.

For non-urgent situations

For non-urgent situations, you can personally visit or phone your nearest Police station. If you are ever
Genuinely in doubt about whether to call 111, police would prefer you did.
