Enrollment and Cancellation Policy


Enrollment: To enroll or obtain scheduling information please contact ABB University
at 1-800-HELP-365 (Option 2, then option 4) or visit us on the web at
http://NAtraining.abb.com.
Enrollment Requirements: All training courses at an ABB Inc. facility require a
minimum enrollment of four students, with a maximum of eight students per class.
Training at the customer site is limited to eight students per class.
Cancellation by Customer: Cancellation of training classes at the customers facility
must be received 14 working days prior to the first day of class to avoid a 50%
cancellation charge. Cancellations of training classes at an ABB Inc. facility must be
received five working days prior to the first day of class to avoid a 10% cancellation
charge. Failure to cancel the course or a no show by a registered student will be
invoiced the full list amount of the course. Substitutions of students may be made at any
time.
Cancellation or Schedule Change By ABB Inc.: If the enrollment requirement is not
met, ABB Inc. reserves the right to reschedule, discontinue, or cancel a class up to five
working days prior to the first day of class. Please visit the ABB University web site at
http://NAtraining.abb.com for complete and up to date listing of scheduled classes, dates
and locations.

Customer On Site Training
Analyzer Utilities: The customer must provide all utilities. Specific requirements will be
determined at time of inquiry.
VistaNET/Vista Workstation Utilities: The customer must provide all utilities. These
include, but are not limited to, four AC electrical outlet receptacles each with a minimum
of 20 Amp power capacities. Specific requirements will be presented at time of
enrollment or inquiry.
Cancellation by Customer: Cancellation of training classes at the customers facility
must be received 14 working days prior to the first day of class to avoid a 50%
cancellation charge.
Special Note: Any PC supplied by Customer must run Windows NT or 2000, have an
Ethernet connection, which has been setup and tested, plus have a CD ROM and floppy
disc to facilitate loading VistaNET software.

Customer Training Facilities: The customer must provide a furnished classroom


environmentally suited for learning with a writing board, overhead projector, tables and
seating as required for students and instructor.
NO Audio or Video Reproductions: Audio or Video recording of any ABB Inc. training
classes is strictly prohibited.
Qualifications: Student must be an employee of participating customer. Any contract
employee must have prior approval from ABB

Training
Course Duration
The duration is 4 days.

Course Goal
The goal of this course is to teach students a practical working knowledge and understanding of the
ABB Inc. Vista II chromatographic analyzer.

Student Profile
This training is targeted to instrument / analyzer technicians, operators, or engineers responsible for
Vista II chromatographic analyzer installation, operation, maintenance and repair.

Prerequisites and Recommendations


Students should have completed the ABB Inc. Process Gas Chromatography Technology, Vista
3000 series, or six months prior experience with process gas chromatographs

Course Duration
The duration is 5 days.

Student Profile
This 5-day training module is designed for those who are responsible for accessing and using
analyzer network information. It is for those who either already have experience on GCC
maintenance or else do not require that type of experience to perform their job. The emphasis is on
GCC / VistaNET and not on the specific analyzers.

Prerequisites and Recommendations


Completion of ABB Inc. Gas Chromatograph Technology, Vista 3000 Series, Vista 2000 Series, or
six months prior experience with process gas chromatographs. Experience in operating Microsoft
Windows is helpful.

NA425: Advance Optima Continuous Gas Analyzer


(CGA) Course
Course Duration
The duration is 3 days.

Course Type
This is an instructor led course. Approximately 35% of the course is hands-on lab activities.

Course Goal
The goal of this course is to provide a basic understanding of the system electronics including I/O,
display properties and configurations for the ABB Continuous Emissions Monitoring System
(CEMS).

Student Profile
This training is targeted to Service Engineers and Maintenance Technicians.

Prerequisites and Recommendations


This is an entry level course that is designed for personnel new to this system as well as individuals
needing refresher training.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Maintain the analyzer system for optimal performance
Use functional blocks to be able to configure the CEM system
Calibrate the CGA analyzer
Interpret analyzer readings for desired system performance
Interpret status messages and alarms to help identify system conditions
Disassemble and reassemble system hardware.
Understand the SMT, TCT, and HMI software packages.

NA430: Advance Optima Multi FID Analyzer System


Course Duration
The duration is 2 days.

Course Type
This is an instructor led course. Approximately 50% of the course is hands-on lab activities.

Course Goal
The goal of this course is to provide a basic understanding of the Multi- Flame Ionization Detector
(FID) module for the ABB Continuous Gas Analyzer (CGA).

Student Profile
This training is targeted to Service Engineers and Maintenance Technicians.

Prerequisites and Recommendations


The NA425 course is a prerequisite for this course.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
