BUSINESS SUMMARY
Computer shop business is one of the most in demand businesses here in
Rosales, Pangasinan. Nowadays, internet cafes are really in demand because of
the fast changing technology that the people embraced just like here in the
Philippines. Some have their own laptops and bring it to coffee shops so that
they could relax and at the same time prepare their assignments and paper
works. The people today are very busy and would want to do their jobs in a
beautiful and innovative environment that could satisfy their needs and lessen
their stress due to busy schedule.
We proposed name of our firm is The Flash Internet Caf .It is registered with
the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) . Our business is registered as
corporation.
The Flash Internet Caf is located along hi-way near to malls, and schools, were
our target customers are mainly students and nearby neighborhood especially
those people whose relatives or loved ones are at abroad and find it very
convenient communicating with them through chat and email. The two
hundred (200) meter radius requirements as provided in the existing Zoning
Code and other applicable rules and regulations wherein computer shops and
other similar establishments and places of amusements should be put up or
constructed at least two hundred (200) meters away from the church, schools,
hospitals, and other government offices shall be strictly complied with. On our
site survey we find out that the site has less than 5 competitors and its a good

sign of putting up the business. We choose the location, at #21 Brg. Carmen,
Rosales, Pangasinan beside Petron Gasoline Station. Its about 40 square
meters. It is the ideal place to establish an internet caf because it is accessible
to public because its along the highway and our target market is mostly
students, near to schools like Robert B. Estella Memorial National High School,
Carmen Elementary School.
We choose this site because we found out that competitors are minimal in the
place. Its an urbanized area were accessibility, competency and we study
niche/market, as our main objective while choosing this site. In accessibility,
the location is just along the highway, and its near to mall like SM City Rosales
and schools and people just strolling along the way and or passengers of utility
vehicle can easily see the Internet Caf. In competency and study of
niche/market, the proposed location is a commercial place, so the prospective
customers is almost everybody. Most of the Internet shop located in the area is
inside the malls while the competitors outside is just minimal, and for that we
are more capable of attracting customers because we will offer more affordable
rental fee in 15 pesos per hour. Our Internet caf will provide small private
booths for quiet chatting compare to the standard elbow to elbow computer
station.
We agreed that the shop should be well ventilated (air condition) to make our
customer comfortable, good music is well provided, the PCs is all well
organized and arrange properly according to their rows for the convenience of

our customer. Each computer has their own games, internet and surfing to be
chosen by our customer, what they want and need is mainly our concerns.
CONCLUSION
At times, there were bookstores and book stalls found within every mile. Now
'Internet cafes' have taken their place. The Internet on the one hand provides
us with great knowledge, a vast platform to exchange views with people from all
over the world, find a job etc. But it also has some drawbacks. The first and the
foremost effect are on the mental and physical activities and actual social life.
Students do use internet for education purpose. But in that also there are
several disadvantages. Students normally surf more on internet then teachers.
It happens several times that a teacher give some work to student and he get it
from internet, copy it and present to the teacher, who many times unable to
know that the matter is copied from internet. In this way students are giving up
habit of reading book. They just open sites get the information copy paste it
and make the assignment.
Page 46
Many times they do not even bother to read it. However a very good advantage
of internet for students is for those who want to seek knowledge, can get access
to data very quickly and can books of many foreign authors which are very
expensive to buy. Most of the cafes provide screened-off cubicles around their
computer terminals, giving users total privacy. We provide privacy to customers
because people come here and write personal e-mails to their friends and
relatives and nobody wants to show others when he or she is writing a letter.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The internet cafes are corrupting the minds of the younger generation in the
name of access to information technology. The government is planning to block
the porn sites but they are in millions and hundreds of them are launched
almost every day. Why can't a law be enforced prohibiting the cafe owners from
providing privacy through the secret cabins to the consumers? If the people
really need access to information technology, they do not need privacy.
